Chapter 1023 If You're Tired, Go to Sleep First

Undeniably, when Christina asked this question, she had some expectations in her heart.

She was wondering, what exactly did she mean to Bernard?

Bernard also looked at her quietly and sighed helplessly, "Virginia and I grew up together, but we are not lovers, just ordinary friends."

He was explaining to her.

Christina's heart skipped a beat. Did his explanation mean that he cared deeply about her feelings?

Realizing this, Christina thought to herself that this was not good.

If this continued, she was really afraid she would fall for Bernard!

But, that was simply impossible.

They came from two completely different worlds—he was born with a silver spoon, while she had always struggled to get by.

How could two such different people possibly have a future together?

"Okay, I understand." Christina didn't say much more, walking forward, "Let's go, Grandpa and Grandma must be waiting."

Bernard was somewhat dissatisfied with her reaction.

He had explained to prevent Christina from being unhappy, but she didn't seem to care much about the explanation.

The two walked one after the other towards the front. As soon as they reached the door, Christina saw Hellen and Vincent tending to the flowers in the yard.

She immediately stopped and took Bernard's arm.

Bernard was puzzled by her actions and turned his head to look at her, "What's wrong?"

"Grandpa and Grandma are in the yard." Christina had already put on a sweet smile, completely different from before, "In front of them, we are a loving couple."

Bernard snorted, "A loving couple? So loving, yet you ignored me today?"

"Uh, we can't let Grandpa and Grandma know we had a fight because of Ms. Pearl, right?" Christina immediately shook her head and took his arm, "Play along, Mr. Mitchell."

Christina pulled him inside, showing a bright smile to Hellen and Vincent, "Grandpa, Grandma, what are you doing?"

Seeing them return, Hellen smiled and waved at Christina, "Christina, come here and look at the flowers I planted."

Christina let go of Bernard's hand and walked over, "Grandma, these flowers are beautiful."

"Yes, they are especially beautiful this year. Probably because you and Bernard got married and my wish came true. I'm in a good mood, and it seems the flowers are, too." Hellen handed the trowel to Vincent and took Christina inside, "Seeing you and Bernard happy makes me happy."

Christina smiled and nodded, glancing at Bernard, "Don't worry, Grandma, we will be fine."

She had said many such things to deceive Hellen before, purely to maintain the image of a loving couple, without any real feelings.

But now, saying the same words again, Christina felt a completely different feeling in her heart.

Perhaps, she actually had a slight hope of continuing well with Bernard.

Back in the room, Christina sat on the balcony, looking at the scenery outside, feeling restless.

She used to have no feelings for Bernard, treating this as a job she could do with a clear conscience, acting without any psychological burden.

But now, she realized she had different emotions for Bernard and could no longer treat this entirely as a job.

But they couldn't have any other relationship. Even if Christina had other thoughts, it wouldn't lead to anything.

After sitting on the balcony for a long time, Christina finally took a shower. Lying in bed, probably because she had been running around too much today, she quickly fell asleep in a daze.

The next day, she got up, and the family sat together for breakfast, nothing had changed.

After breakfast, Bernard went to the company, and Christina opened her computer to find a friend request from Curtis. She clicked accept: [Hello, Mr. Caldwell.]

Curtis: [Christina, I asked my assistant Marsha to send the script to you. Give me your address.]

Although she knew Bernard had intervened with Curtis for her, she didn't know if Bernard had told Curtis about their relationship or to what extent.

If he didn't know about Bernard and her relationship, Christina having Marsha send things to the Mitchell Mansion would expose everything.

Christina hesitated for a long time before replying: [Mr. Caldwell, I happen to be going out today, I'll pick it up myself.]

Curtis: [Okay, just ask for Marsha.]

Christina: [Alright.]

After replying to Curtis, Christina changed clothes and prepared to go out.

Hellen knew she was going out and helped her contact a driver, "Christina, do you have a driver's license?"

"Yes, Grandma, why?"

Hellen smiled and shook her head, "Nothing, just asking. You can go."

Christina didn't think much of it, said goodbye to Hellen, and left.

At the company, Christina explained her purpose to the receptionist and soon met Marsha.

Marsha handed her a file, "This is the script for the entire play, Ms. Russell, remember to keep it confidential and not to leak it."

"Okay, I understand." Christina took it, the cover of the script read "Valeria Song" in large letters, "Marsha, when do we start filming?"

Marsha took out another piece of paper, "This is our tentative filming schedule. Everything is almost ready, and we will start filming in a week."

"A week, so I need to read the script and memorize the lines?" Christina, having no acting experience, could only ask patiently.

Marsha nodded, "That's basic, and Mr. Caldwell hopes you can do it."

"Okay, don't worry, I will definitely do it well." Christina valued this job very much and would naturally take it seriously.

After everything was settled and confirming there was nothing else, Christina left.

Back home, she started reading the script in her room.

Curtis's vision was indeed accurate. The female lead of this play matched Christina's image well, and their personalities were somewhat similar. Christina even felt she didn't need much acting; sometimes just being herself was enough.

Originally, she had no confidence at all, but after reading the script, Christina had some confidence in this movie.

"Grandma mentioned that you've been really focused on reading the script lately," Bernard suddenly walked into the room and sat on the bed.

He had been very busy these days and hadn't been home much.

Today he came back early, and since Hellen and Vincent hadn't slept yet, he couldn't go to the study and had to come to the room to sleep.

"Yes, I've been reading it lately." Christina put down the script, feeling a bit uneasy, "Grandpa and Grandma haven't slept yet?"

Bernard, who had been working overtime and was very tired, lay down on the bed, "No, they are still downstairs."

"Oh." Seeing him so tired, Christina felt an inexplicable heartache, "If you're tired, you should sleep first."
