Chapter 613 What He Said
Teresa mulled it over for a sec and then said, "Alright. Thanks, Katherine."
Teresa still had her Crescent Group badge, so she could just waltz in like she still worked there. She never officially quit; she just ghosted the place.
She didn't wanna go upstairs to wait for Anthony 'cause she was trying to dodge Frank. But bumping into Katherine, who'd been MIA for six months, made her forget all that.
Teresa tagged along with Katherine and hopped in the elevator.
Teresa was so zoned in on Katherine that she ended up right next to Frank in the elevator. She only noticed when she caught a whiff of his cologne. It'd be super awkward to move now, so she just stayed put. It was not like the ride would take forever.
"Katherine, where the heck have you been for the past six months?" Teresa asked, all curious.
Katherine dodged the question and said, "Teresa, you can think of me as a friend, but don't consider me your aunt anymore."
Teresa was shocked. "Why? Katherine, are you really done with Alex?"
Katherine replied, "Alex and I were just business partners. That deal's done, and so are we. Considering me your aunt just complicates things for me."
Teresa was confused. "But you and Alex have a kid together."
The elevator doors opened, and Katherine bolted out before Teresa could get an answer. Ambrosia was right on her heels.
Teresa frowned, thinking, 'What's Katherine's deal? She vanishes for six months and comes back all weird.'
"If you can't figure it out, don't stress. And stay out of Alex's drama," Frank's voice came from right behind her, making her heart race. She snapped out of it and rushed out of the elevator, ignoring him.
Frank, hands in his pockets, just shrugged and chuckled as he strolled out. But once he was out, he saw Teresa chatting and laughing by Anthony's desk.
Anthony noticed Frank's stare and got all nervous, asking, "Mr. Perez, need something?"
Frank took a few steps closer and smiled. "If I need you, I'll let your manager know."
Teresa caught Frank's tone with Anthony and rolled her eyes, feeling a bit miffed for Anthony. 'Who cares about a CEO? If push comes to shove, I can get Alex to hook Anthony up with a job at Melville Group!'
Frank seemed to read her mind and his smile grew. "Ms. Harris, can you come to my office for a sec?"
Teresa was caught off guard, thinking, 'Did I hear that right? Frank wants me in his office?'
She didn't wanna deal with Frank, so she turned her back and avoided eye contact.
Without much thought, she shot back, "Mr. Perez, I'm not an employee here anymore, so it's not cool for me to go to your office."
Frank's tone was serious but chill. "Until you officially resign, you're still on the books. So, let's cooperate, okay?"
Teresa snapped, "Sorry, I can't. I've already quit!"
She still didn't look at him, so Frank moved around to face her, bending down a bit to catch her eye. "Come on, be good. Let's sort out your resignation. It'll make job hunting easier, right?"
The way he said "be good" was super suggestive.
Anthony was obviously not thrilled about another guy talking to his girl like that, but he couldn't do much since Frank was his boss.
Teresa was ticked off by Frank's attitude, but if she kept refusing, nobody knew what he'd say next.
Ignoring Frank, she told Anthony, "I'll handle the resignation, then we can grab some food!"
Anthony looked worried, not wanting her to go to Frank's office, but he just nodded.
Teresa followed Frank to his office. "Mr. Perez, what do you need? Make it quick; my boyfriend's waiting!"
After closing the door, Frank took off his jacket, tossed it on the sofa, loosening his tie, and sat at his desk. "Now that you have a boyfriend, even talking to me is torture?"
Teresa shot back, "I'm not like you. You can flirt with all the girls, but I can't. I gotta be loyal to my boyfriend."
Frank chuckled.
His laugh made Teresa feel insulted, and she frowned. "What's so funny?"
Frank leaned back, looking at her. "So, you're really planning to marry Anthony?"
Teresa frowned and said firmly, "Of course. I date to marry. I don't mess around with feelings."
Frank squinted and asked, "So when you were chasing me, was that for marriage too?"
Teresa was caught off guard and blushed. "Even though I hate to admit it now, yeah, I wanted to marry you! But now I know you aren't into me. Forget marriage, you wouldn't even date someone as boring as me! So don't worry, I won't bother you anymore!"
Frank watched her, noticing she avoided eye contact. That was a sign she still cared. If she didn't, she wouldn't avoid his gaze.
Frank squinted and said, "What if I say now that I'm willing to try a serious relationship with you?"
Teresa's heart skipped a beat upon hearing it.
