Chapter 658 You're Fluffy
Sunny snapped, "Even if you're my sister, butt out!"
Katherine munched on her toast. "I don't give a damn about you, but I know Ambrosia inside out. She'll do whatever I say. If I don't give the green light, you two are toast."
Sunny's mood did a 180. "Katherine, don't be like that."
He knew Ambrosia treated Katherine's words like gospel!
Not just Ambrosia, even Bernard was Katherine's puppet now!
He'd been sweating bullets thinking Bernard would block him and Ambrosia, but if Katherine vouched for him, it was a done deal!
Katherine lazily stretched out a hand. "Hand me a tissue."
Sunny jumped to it and handed her a tissue with all the respect in the world.
Katherine popped the last bit of toast in her mouth, wiped her hands, and headed for the door.
Sunny trailed after her. "Hey! Where you off to?"
Katherine didn't even glance back. "Taking a stroll in your garden."
Sunny scratched his head. "What about me and Ambrosia?"
Katherine yawned. "Depends on how you play your cards."
Sunny straightened up. "I'll do great! The sun's blazing out there. Let me grab you a parasol!"
He dashed off to find an umbrella, but Katherine didn't wait and strolled to the garden solo.
She reached the flower field where she'd once met her real dad, Edwin Mitchell. Sadly, the flowers had all wilted.
Seeing her mom's favorite flowers gone, Katherine felt a pang of disappointment.
She sighed and kept walking until she spotted a swing chair nearby. She plopped down and started swinging gently, feeling totally at ease.
Just then, her phone buzzed with a new message.
She pulled it out and saw it was from Alex: [Meeting's done. What'd you have for breakfast?]
A text from that liar totally ruined this sunny, chill morning.
She was about to pocket her phone when it buzzed again.
Another message from Alex: [No reply? I'll torch the painting.]
Katherine quickly typed back: [Fried eggs, toast, bacon, broccoli, nuts, and milk.]
Seconds later, Alex replied: [Quite good.]
Katherine rolled her eyes and scoffed, "Is he worried about me? Or just the baby in my belly?"
She didn't reply, and Alex sent another message: [What are you up to now?]
Katherine grumpily replied: [Swinging.]
Alex shot back instantly: [Let me see!]
Katherine sighed and typed: [Nothing to see! Mr. Melville, focus on your work, and don't bug me unless it's urgent!]
But Alex went ahead and started a video call.
Katherine didn't want to pick up, but thinking about her mom's painting, she took a deep breath and told herself to hang in there until she got it!
She answered the call and saw Alex lounging in his big office chair.
Katherine spoke first, "Mr. Melville, have you never seen a swing before?"
Alex grinned. "Oh, I have."
Katherine was even more ticked off. "Then why the heck do you wanna see it?"
Alex got all serious. "But I've never seen a little chubby pig on a swing."
Katherine's face went dark. "Who are you calling a pig?"
Alex dodged the question. "Who's on the swing?"
No woman likes being called a chubby pig, and Katherine was no different!
Even if she was just a bit rounder because of the baby!
Her face had filled out, and her belly too, but her arms and legs were still slim.
Katherine was a bit miffed, "Mr. Melville, if you don't know how to talk, then zip it!"
Alex chuckled, "Alright, you're not fat, you're fluffy!"
Katherine huffed, "Shut up!"
Alex stopped teasing, his gaze softening, and he spoke in a coaxing tone, "I won't say it anymore. You were too skinny before. I like you a bit chubby, cute and beautiful."
Why was he using this tone with her?
She had made things crystal clear yesterday, but why was Alex still being so inappropriate while saying such ambiguous stuff?
Katherine felt really annoyed now!
She didn't look at the camera because her face was red, and she didn't want him to notice.
After a while, Alex didn't say anything more.
No more words. Could she hang up now?
Katherine looked again and saw that the camera was now empty, just a phone on the desk, capturing an empty office chair.
Where did he go?
Leaving without a word and not hanging up, what a weirdo!
Just as Katherine was about to click to hang up, she suddenly remembered Alex's threat from last night's video call, saying he'd burn the painting if she hung up.
She hesitated, not daring to risk her mom's painting.
After thinking for a moment, she decided not to hang up and put the phone aside, as she had nothing else to do anyway!
At this moment, Sunny came running over, panting heavily, and opened the parasol. "So you were here. I've been looking for you everywhere!"
Katherine looked at his sweaty face and thought he was silly yet kinda cute.
No wonder Ambrosia liked Sunny.
Nowadays, there weren't many pure and foolish guys like him!
Sunny held the parasol to shield Katherine from the sun. He then caught his breath and tentatively asked, "Katherine, can I go out at noon? During lunch break, I wanna have lunch with Ambrosia."
Katherine slowly swayed on the swing. "What do you like about Ambrosia?"
Hearing her question, Sunny paused for a moment, as he hadn't really thought about it before.
