Chapter 1045 Waiting for Her News

Just like that, even before Christina's movie was released, she became famous!

Her fame was unexpected, yet also within reason.

Curtis, however, was not surprised. From the first time Curtis saw Christina audition, he knew she would definitely become a well-known actress.

It was just a matter of time.

This was good too; the movie's pre-release buzz could save a lot of money on promotion.

However, while some were happy, others were not. Virginia never imagined that she would be the one to elevate Christina to stardom.

She sat in front of the mirror, expressionless, sweeping everything off the table onto the floor.

Her assistant stood by, head down, not daring to make a sound.

"What's the current ranking?" Virginia's tone was uncontrollably irritable.

"Still, still at the top," the assistant replied timidly, not understanding why Virginia would do something so thankless.

In the end, all the anger was directed at them.

"Why does that bitch Christina get all the attention? She's just started acting and already has such high popularity. Does she even deserve it? Fuck!"

The shattered pieces on the floor weren't enough; she stood up abruptly and threw the chair, leaving deep scratches on the wall.

"Virginia, calm down. They're waiting for you to shoot the next scene. If you make such a fuss, it'll be hard to explain if someone posts it online."

"What are you afraid of? Who dares to spread news about me? Who in this crew dares to cross me? Do they think their acting careers are too secure?"

Virginia glared back, "Or do you think others can bully me too? This is your failure, and you all don't deserve to be on my team! While Christina's popularity skyrockets, you sit around doing nothing. What's the point of having you here?"

She was so focused on venting at the assistant that she didn't even notice her manager, Kaila Morgan, coming in.

"Enough! Virginia, throw your tantrum and be done with it! Haven't you made enough of a scene? People outside are waiting to shoot your news. Do you not want to act anymore? I've told you, stop wasting so much energy on Christina. Use that time to improve your skills."

Kaila was disappointed. She had brought Virginia into the industry, and now Virginia was her highest-status star.

But ever since Christina appeared, Virginia seemed obsessed, neglecting her own work to focus on Curtis's crew.

"Many people in the crew are already gossiping about you, Virginia. Don't you know an actor should cherish their reputation?"

Kaila looked displeased, "And what's with your recent scenes? You didn't even memorize your lines?"

"Why do you care so much? Do you also think Christina is a rising star and doesn't want to manage me anymore? When I become Mrs. Mitchell, won't you all be sucking up to me?" Virginia was in no mood to listen, finding everyone annoying.

"You're crazy." Kaila saw her like this and felt helpless. If Virginia wanted to ruin her career, so be it.

Who could stop Virginia from dreaming of becoming Bernard's wife?

If Virginia didn't care about the entertainment industry, there was no point in saying more.

Christina looked at the flood of praise in the comments on her personal account, feeling a bit unaccustomed.

Did these people like her just from seeing that clip?

Could so many strangers really like her?

Besides the confessions about her looks, there were many compliments on her acting.

Of course, there were also some harsh comments, mostly from Virginia's fans.

Curtis's fame combined with Christina's acting kept her personal account trending, and it was being promoted across all platforms.

The Mitchell Group.

Bernard also saw the widespread praise for Christina's acting.

Watching the clip of Christina's performance was a completely different experience from seeing her act live.

He felt like an audience member, captivated by Christina's every move. She had completely transformed into another person.

After a long pause, he sent Christina a message: [Congratulations, Ms. Russell, on your acting being recognized by the public. Keep up the good work.]

When Bernard's message popped up on her screen, Christina was scrolling through her phone. Her smile froze immediately.

Wasn't Bernard supposed to be bringing food to Virginia? How did he have time to notice her?

Was this Bernard's way of managing his time as a CEO?

Glancing at the news while delivering food to Virginia, then sending her a fake congratulatory message. He probably didn't even know what she acted in.

Christina took a deep breath and finally replied with a simple "Thank you."

She didn't want to deal with anything else.

Bernard, lazily crossing his legs, waited for Christina's reply, only to receive a "Thank you."

That's it?

She didn't want to share her filming experience with him?

Didn't she want to talk about her first big wave of popularity?

Bernard exited the chat, then went back in to check. Still just "Thank you."

Maybe she was typing, he thought, feeling a bit annoyed at the lack of a "typing" indicator.

"Mr. Mitchell, the finance director is here, waiting in the conference room. We're just waiting for you."

Billy knocked on the office door, finding Bernard lost in thought.

He was shocked.

Was Bernard actually daydreaming?

Even though Bernard only paused for a second or two, it was still unbelievable.

Usually, whenever Billy came to remind Bernard of work, he was always buried in documents.

Bernard kept waiting for Christina's reply, not even putting his phone on silent during the meeting, but his phone never rang.

"Last quarter's collaboration with Markovia saw a 1% increase in revenue. We can continue the partnership this quarter. But if this quarter's revenue doesn't increase by at least 2%, there's no need to continue next quarter, Mr. Mitchell. That concludes the finance department's report."

After the finance director finished, he noticed Bernard still deep in thought, not responding.

"Mr. Mitchell, Mr. Mitchell?" Billy called twice before Bernard snapped out of it.

He rubbed his temples, looking a bit tired, "Where were we?"
