Chapter 268 That's Right, Katherine is My Wife

A chubby cat sauntered out of the bedroom.

Molly thought her owner was back and came out to be cute, but instead, she saw a strange man in the living room. Her fur bristled, and she charged at him, hissing like a little tiger.

Alex watched the cat coldly, unfazed by its aggression.

Katherine walked out of the kitchen with a cup of coffee, saw her cat intimidating Alex, and found it amusing but held back her laughter.

"Come here, don't be mean to the guest," she said.

"Meow~"

Hearing her voice, Molly immediately softened, rubbing against her legs.

Used to this behavior, Katherine stepped over the cat and placed the freshly brewed coffee on the table. "Mr. Melville, please have some coffee! We only have one type of coffee bean, so I hope it suits your taste. If not, please bear with it!"

She then walked around Molly once more.

She went to her room to change clothes, as moving around in a dress was quite inconvenient.

In no time, Katherine came out in comfy loungewear.

By then, Alex was already sitting on the sofa with the coffee cup, the chubby cat still hissing at him.

He showed no expression while sipping his coffee, but his eyes revealed a hint of displeasure toward the cat.

Katherine walked over and picked up her cat. "Mr. Melville, don't mind her. She doesn't like strangers."

Saying this, she sat on a nearby sofa, grabbed the remote, and turned on the TV.

With the TV on, the atmosphere in the room relaxed. She wondered when this man would finish his coffee and leave.

Alex took a sip of his coffee, looked at her holding the cat, and asked, "Where's your husband?"

A trace of unease crossed Katherine's face. "He hasn't finished work yet."

Alex squinted and questioned, "What kind of job keeps him working this late?"

Katherine frowned and glanced at him sideways. "Mr. Melville, don't you think you're being a little nosy?"

Alex smirked coldly and stated, "I'm just curious what kind of man lives in such a pink house."

Katherine felt a pang of guilt.

Alright, Ambrosia decorated this house mainly in pink, with a very girly style.

Although Ambrosia appeared mature and sophisticated on the outside, she had a girlish heart and loved pink.

Ambrosia mostly bought the furniture, sofa, and decorations, all in a soft, girly style.

As for Frank, although he was a respected Mr. Perez of the Crescent Group outside, at home, he had little say in front of her and Ambrosia. For instance, when it came to home decor, he could only decide on his room; he had no say in anything else.

Moreover, boys were generally not as neat and tidy as girls, so she and Ambrosia required him to keep his things in his room, not clutter the living room with his various collectibles and sports equipment, and put his shoes in the shoe cabinet as soon as he came home. Even his slippers had to be put away before leaving!

Frank grew accustomed to it under their watchful eyes.

Seeing Katherine dodge the question, Alex grew even more suspicious about her having a husband.

Just then, the sound of the door's keypad being pressed came from outside; someone was back.

Alex frowned and looked toward the door.

Katherine knew it must be Frank. She felt a bit troubled and helplessly rubbed Molly's head, sighing.

She had hoped Frank wouldn't return before Alex left, but unfortunately, they still ran into each other!

Frank walked into the entryway, placed the takeout he brought on the shoe cabinet, changed into slippers, and looked up. "Katherine..."

"Katherine, I'm back" was cut off after the first word!

Because he saw that douchebag Alex in their home!

What was going on? Wasn't Katherine avoiding this man? How did she bring him back?

Frank looked at Alex, and Alex looked at Frank, their auras clashing.

Unsure of the situation, Frank refrained from speaking rashly and silently questioned Katherine with his eyes.

Katherine looked at Frank, rubbing her temples in frustration. Things were getting more complicated, and she didn't know how to handle it.

Molly jumped out of Katherine's arms and went to rub against Frank, seeking attention.

Seeing that a man knew the house's password, could come and go freely, and was even familiar with the cat, Alex's gaze darkened completely. He squinted at Katherine and asked, "Is he your husband?"

Katherine vaguely responded with a noncommittal "hmm."

She couldn't deny it; denying it would make it even harder to explain her relationship with Frank. If they weren't married, how could they explain living together?

However, Katherine's brief "hmm" was like a sharp thorn piercing Alex's heart!

He knew Mr. Perez of the Crescent Group because they had interacted several times over the design contract for the Melville Group Tower.

Previously, Frank had shown interest in Katherine, asking for her number and even calling her in front of him.

So, they had been interested in each other and had been in contact privately back then?!

Frank quickly grasped the situation from Alex's question and Katherine's reaction.

So, Frank walked over, politely smiling. "Mr. Melville, long time no see. If you were coming to visit, you should have given us a heads-up so we could prepare a proper meal for you!"

Alex sat calmly on the sofa, slightly raising his eyes to look at him. He ignored the pleasantries and directly asked, "When did you two start?"

Frank, quick-witted, walked over and affectionately put his arm around Katherine's shoulder. "Us? We had a quick wedding less than a month ago. We haven't had the ceremony yet, but we will soon, and we'll definitely send you an invitation, Mr. Melville. You must come to our wedding!"

Alex's face remained impassive. He stood up in silence.

Frank cheerfully said, "Mr. Melville, are you leaving? Thank you for bringing Katherine home! It's late, so I won't be able to keep you. We'll invite you for a meal another day, and you must honor us with your presence!"
