Chapter 925 Having Another Child
Although Katherine was no longer a little girl, she still blushed deeply at Alex's words and punched him in frustration. "Can you be serious for once?"
Alex chuckled, "Why should I be serious in front of you?"
Katherine's eyelashes fluttered as she pushed against his chest. "Stop it! Don't make me worry about you."
Alex raised an eyebrow. "Worry about what?"
Katherine was a bit embarrassed to say, "Your leg has just recovered not long ago, so... it's better not to engage in intense activities."
Alex squinted his handsome eyes and brushed aside the hair on her forehead with his long fingers. "Don't you want me?"
Katherine, being human, had her own desires. "I do, but we have plenty of time."
Alex stared at her for a while, but in the end, he didn't push her. He moved over and lay down beside her, pulling her small hand into his, interlocking their fingers.
"Alright."
Dinner at the Melville Manor was lively and harmonious for the first time in a while, with Nathan staying as the prospective son-in-law to join the family meal.
No one knew about the twisted expression on Sophia's face in the black car parked outside the Melville Manor.
That night, Alex was busy in the study until late, and by the time he returned to the bedroom, Katherine had already put their four children to sleep.
Luckily, the bed was big enough; otherwise, there wouldn't have been enough room for her and the four kids.
Alex walked to the bedside, bent down to cover the children with the blankets they had kicked off, and then sat by the bed, watching the sleeping Katherine. He reached out and gently brushed her cheek.
These three years had been tough for her, that much was clear.
He had a lot to make up for!
Sensing Alex's presence, Katherine furrowed her brows and opened her eyes, looking at him sleepily. "Are you done?"
Her voice was hoarse, like a child who had just woken up, incredibly cute.
Alex couldn't resist pinching her cheek. "Yes, go back to sleep."
Katherine seemed a bit reluctant and wrapped her arms around Alex's neck. "The kids still need me right now. Can you sleep in the study for a while?"
She was coaxing him.
Even though Alex had a strong possessive streak, he wouldn't compete with his own children for attention.
He leaned down and pecked her lips lightly, then sighed in mock regret. "We barely had any time alone before the kids came along! What should we do?"
Katherine laughed at his teasing. "Who do you blame for that?"
Alex couldn't help but kiss her again. "It's my fault. I'll go sleep in the study, okay?"
Katherine kissed his cheek. "Good boy! Go on!"
Despite his reluctance, Alex let her go, tucked her in, said goodnight, and quietly left, closing the door behind him.
The next day, the sun was shining brightly.
When Katherine woke up, she was alone in bed; the children were nowhere to be seen.
She rubbed her eyes and looked at the clock on the wall. It was already ten in the morning. Why hadn't anyone woken her up?
She quickly got up, washed, and changed her clothes.
Downstairs, she saw through the floor-to-ceiling windows that Fiona and the house staff were flying kites with the four children.
Seeing the kids behaving well, Katherine felt relieved.
"Katherine, you're up!"
Hearing Sandra's voice, Katherine turned to see her smiling from the kitchen. "Katherine, come have breakfast! We saved some for you!"
Katherine nodded and walked to the dining room to sit down. Sandra instructed someone to bring the freshly made breakfast to her.
Then, Sandra sat down next to Katherine. "Katherine, eat up!"
Sandra looked radiant today, undoubtedly because Alex had returned.
"Sandra, why didn't anyone wake me up this morning?" Katherine asked curiously as she obediently ate her food.
Sandra couldn't stop smiling. "Alex didn't want anyone to disturb you. He said you needed more rest after yesterday. Katherine, eat more and replenish your energy! You and Alex have been apart for three years; you must miss each other a lot!"
Katherine blushed as she ate.
Alex's words had made Sandra misunderstand what had happened between them!
"Sandra, last night, we..."
They had slept separately!
However, Sandra interrupted her before she could finish. "I understand! I get it! Don't be embarrassed!"
Katherine thought, 'How awkward, forget it! Better not explain.'
"Sandra, I need to go out later. Could you and Fiona help me look after the kids?"
Sandra nodded. "Are you going to the company to see Alex?"
Katherine nodded. "Yes, I need to brief him on what happened at the company during the three years he was away."
Sandra nodded. "I get it. Go ahead! Don't worry about the kids; there are plenty of people here to watch them."
Katherine felt uncomfortable under Sandra's knowing gaze, which seemed to be hoping for another great-grandchild.
She didn't want to have more children!
Katherine quickly finished her breakfast, politely said goodbye to Sandra, and left.
Driving from the Melville Manor to the Melville Group, she arrived just in time for the lunch break.
She had told Alex yesterday that she would take him somewhere!
The atmosphere at the Melville Group was particularly tense and quiet today, more so than usual, because their decisive leader, Alex, had returned!
All the employees were very curious, holding back a lot of questions they wanted to discuss, but they didn't dare slack off because Alex was personally overseeing the company today.
When Katherine stepped out of the elevator, she was met with the curious gazes of all the employees.
Katherine had come too!
They decided to focus on their work and save the gossip for after hours!
Katherine made her way to the CEO's office without anyone daring to stop her.
The secretary brought in a cup of coffee for her. "Ms. Galatea, Mr. Melville is still in a meeting. Please wait a moment; it should be over soon."
Katherine acknowledged and sat in the CEO's chair, flipping through some documents on the desk.
The secretary quietly left.
Katherine took a sip of coffee and saw that the documents had already been signed by Alex, so she closed them and set them aside.
She didn't have to wait long before Alex returned!
Seeing Katherine sitting in his chair, sipping coffee, Alex's cold eyes softened with a hint of a smile. "Why are you here so early?"
Katherine sipped her coffee. "It's almost lunchtime! Did you forget I said yesterday that I would take you somewhere?"
