Chapter 321 Tampered Test Report
Scarlett sat in the wheelchair, a sly and triumphant grin on her face.
Lucky for her, she and Bernard were at the same hospital. She spotted Alex with Katherine in the OB-GYN department.
So, she bribed the obstetrician and had someone mess with the test results.
If Alex found out the baby was his, he'd never care about her and Charles again!
That was unacceptable!
Now, Alex thought the baby was another man's and would see Katherine as a cheater, losing interest in her!
Scarlett thought, 'Hmph, Katherine, trying to steal Alex from me again? No way!'
"Scarlett, why are you here alone?"
Sophie's puzzled voice came from behind.
Scarlett turned her wheelchair around, flashing an innocent smile.
"Just needed some air. How's Bernard doing, Sophie?"
Sophie frowned, heartbroken. "Bernard's got a minor fracture. He'll recover with time. Billy Parker's taking care of him now."
Scarlett sighed, pretending to care. "Hope he heals well. Didn't expect Alex to go after Bernard over Katherine."
Sophie gritted her teeth. "Alex always respected him, but today he attacked Bernard. Katherine must've stirred things up! She's nothing but trouble!"
Scarlett looked weak and helpless. "Katherine went too far, causing both Alex and Bernard to get hurt. Wonder if Alex saw a doctor."
Sophie snapped, "Don't forget your injury! Katherine's always causing chaos. Just wait, I'll deal with that bitch!"
Seeing Sophie's rage, Scarlett's lips curled up slightly.
Perfect. Let Sophie handle Katherine so she wouldn't have to get her hands dirty.
But thinking about today still made Scarlett uneasy.
Before the hospital, she, Bernard, and Sophie were chatting in the guest room.
Suddenly, Alex kicked the door open, stormed in, and grabbed Bernard, punching him!
Bernard, caught off guard, fought back.
They brawled, both getting hurt.
Though the Melville and Mitchell families didn't get along, they'd never had such a public fight.
The sudden brawl scared her and Sophie, and they called Billy to break it up.
Bernard wiped blood from his mouth, glaring at Alex.
He snorted, "For a girl who dumped you, you betray Scarlett and fight me? Alex, are you crazy?"
Alex's eyes were ice-cold. "No matter what Katherine does, she's off-limits! Touch her again, you and the Mitchell Group will pay!"
Alex stood up, adjusted his tie, stretched his neck, and without a word, walked away.
Leaving behind a room full of shock and a battered Bernard.
Scarlett always knew Alex had feelings for that witch Katherine, but she never thought Katherine meant so much to him that he'd lose his cool and come to her defense.
That's why Scarlett was seething with jealousy and wanted Katherine gone!
There was no place in this world for Katherine!
Meanwhile, Katherine took a cab home.
Her mind was a mess the whole ride. She kept thinking about Alex's injuries, the way he looked at her, and how he misunderstood her.
It was driving her nuts!
As soon as she walked in, Molly, her cat, rubbed against her feet.
Katherine changed into her slippers, picked up the chubby cat, and took a deep breath, feeling a bit better.
Frank was brewing coffee in the kitchen. Seeing her, he asked, "Why are you back so early? How was the Ayers family banquet? Did you get anything out of it?"
Katherine sat down with Molly, lazily leaning back on the sofa. "Yeah, a bit."
The Ayers family recognized her as a god-granddaughter. It wasn't voluntary, but it was still something. It would make it easier to gather info from them later.
Frank sensed something was off. "Hmm? If you gained something, why aren't you happy, Katherine?"
Katherine replied weakly, "I'm tired!"
Frank heated a cup of milk and brought it to her. "What happened? Did you dance like crazy at the banquet and get tired?"
Katherine took the milk, glared at Frank, and then sipped it while recounting the hospital check-up.
After listening, Frank frowned. "Someone tampered with your test results, Katherine. Who could it be?"
Katherine scoffed. "If I'm not mistaken, it should be Scarlett. Only she would keep an eye on me and pull these tricks!"
Frank thought about it and agreed. "Katherine, actually, Scarlett's meddling helped you this time. Otherwise, Alex would have known you were carrying his child!"
Katherine's eyes darkened. "Yeah, that's true."
Frank continued, "Since Alex already thinks we're married, letting him believe we have a child will solidify our lies and dispel his suspicions!"
That made sense.
Katherine lowered her eyes, the milk tasting bitter.
Frank noticed her mood and leaned closer. "Be honest, you still care about Alex, don't you? That's why you're upset that he thinks you're a loose woman."
Katherine didn't want to talk anymore.
There was a heaviness in her heart.
She'd been through a lot and never cared about others' opinions, except his.
Annoying!
Not wanting to dwell on it, Katherine changed the subject. "It doesn't matter anymore! Frank, get me something to eat. I'm hungry!"
"Got it!" Frank didn't press further and headed to the kitchen. As he walked, he remembered something. "Oh, Katherine, the World Hacker Conference this year is being held here. They say the Lion will be there! Do you want to go?"
Lion, the world's number one hacker, was Katherine's childhood idol, someone she always wanted to meet.
Lately, she hadn't been in a good mood. Meeting her idol would cheer her up.
If not, she could just go to relax!
Katherine answered, "I'll go! Where is it being held?"
