Chapter 595 What If You Can't Find Her

Sunny always felt like a total dork whenever "The Enigma Club" came up. Scratching his head, he mumbled, "Most of the folks in The Enigma Club are high schoolers. There’s a ton of stuff I still don’t get. Ambrosia, can you give me a hand?"

Ambrosia pinched the bridge of her nose, wondering how she got roped into dealing with him.

Alex rolled back into Melville Manor super late. Most of the place was dead quiet, except for a few night-shift servants.

A maid came up to grab Alex's coat, knowing he’d just flown in and might be jet-lagged. She asked, "Mr. Melville, have you eaten? Want me to whip up something for you?"

Looking beat, Alex just waved her off and trudged upstairs without a word.

As he stepped into his room, the familiar scent hit him, making his emotions all tangled up. The air still had a hint of Katherine's shampoo, meaning she’d showered and dried her hair in here earlier that morning.

'Katherine took her sweet time showering before she left. Maybe it’s all part of her plan, ' he thought.

Just as Alex was about to cool off with a shower, he heard a noise from the bed.

There was a human-shaped lump on the bed, turning over like it was in deep sleep. Listening closely, he could hear faint breathing.

Alex froze, staring at the figure on the bed. The figure was curled up, hugging a pillow, wearing the nightgown that Katherine often wore.

'Is it her? Did she come back?' Alex wondered.

Forgetting to turn on the light, Alex quickly walked to the bed and called out in a low voice, "Katherine?"

The person on the bed seemed to hear him, moved a bit, and responded with a sleepy, hoarse voice, "Hmm?"

Alex immediately scooped her up from the bed and held her tightly, "You still know to come back?"

He held her tight, scared she’d bolt again. Turned out she’d just taken another shower, which was why her scent still lingered in the room. It was this scent he couldn’t get enough of.

Maybe he was holding her too tight that the woman in his arms woke up, struggling to breathe. "Alex? What are you doing?"

Alex’s body stiffened. Realizing something was off, he quickly pushed her away and turned on the bedside lamp.

The light flicked on, and there was Sophia's face. Alex felt a bit let down. Standing up, he asked in a deep voice, "Why are you sleeping here?"

Sophia, rubbing her sleepy eyes, didn’t seem to think she’d done anything wrong. "Sandra put me in Fiona's room, but Fiona kept crowding me in her sleep. I had no choice but to crash here."

"Get out." Alex's tone was cold and carried a hint of annoyance. "You can sleep anywhere, but not here!"

Sophia shrugged, spreading her hands in slight dissatisfaction. "Why not? Ms. Galatea isn’t home, and I’m not sharing the bed with you. Why can’t I? I think even if Ms. Galatea were home today, she wouldn’t mind me borrowing this bed for one night!"

Alex's face stayed impassive. "She might not care, but I do. Get off this bed and leave, now!"

Sophia frowned but got out of bed. The nightgown she was wearing was a bit tight, hugging her curves.

The nightgown belonged to Katherine. It was loose on Katherine, but for Sophia, who had a larger frame, it was pretty snug.

Alex's face remained stern as he coldly squinted his eyes. "Why are you wearing her clothes?"

Sophia helplessly shrugged, spreading her hands. "Because my luggage hasn't arrived yet. Alex, did you forget? I came with you in a hurry and didn't have time to pack. I wanted to borrow something from Fiona, but she doesn't seem to like me and refused. So, I had to find something in your closet to wear."

Sophia not only wore Katherine's clothes but also took a shower in this room. She had no choice; she wasn't allowed to shower in Fiona's room.

The nightgown, already small for her, rode up as she shrugged and raised her hands, revealing her sexy chest.

Alex remained indifferent, coldly saying, "Take it off!"

Sophia was stunned, then smiled seductively. "Are you sure you want me to take it off right now?"

As she spoke, she made a move to lift the nightgown. She wasn't wearing anything underneath.

Alex turned his back to her, facing the balcony. "Go get your own clothes and change. Return Katherine's clothes!"

Finding it uninteresting, Sophia agreed and went to change into her own clothes.

Alex stepped onto the balcony to cool off. The room's scent, though unchanged, now felt repulsive to him. With a stern face, he lit a cigarette.

Soon, he heard someone approaching from behind.

Alex exhaled a puff of smoke, not turning around, knowing who it was.

Sophia, now in her own clothes, came over to talk to Alex.

She frowned, deliberately sounding a bit reproachful, "Alex, we've been friends for so many years! Do you still need to avoid me like this? It's really hurtful!"

Alex glanced at her indifferently. "No matter how familiar we are, you're still a woman."

Sophia raised an eyebrow and said, "So in your eyes, I'm still a woman? All these years, I thought you saw me as a man!"

Alex smoked. "I have a wife now. It's different from before. I need to keep my distance with female friends."

Sophia laughed. "A wife? Your wife abandoned you today! Whether you keep your distance from other women or not, she can't see it."

Alex's face darkened, though he knew she was right.

'What is the point of keeping my distance from other women now? Does Katherine even care?' he wondered.

"Alex, you went out to find Ms. Galatea just now, didn't you? Looks like you didn't find her," Sophia continued.

Alex silently smoked, not wanting to talk.

"Alex, if you really can't find Ms. Galatea this time, what will you do?"  Sophia asked.

Alex's eyes deepened as he said, "Impossible! Even if she dies, I'll find her!"
