Chapter 1014 Do You Need Something
Regardless of the option, Christina couldn't accept it. She believed in not taking credit where it was not due.
"No need, Grandma. With my excellent qualifications, I can definitely find a job on my own!" Christina pretended to be relaxed and declined Hellen's help.
Since she was unwilling, Hellen didn't force her and instead changed the topic to talk about her and Bernard watching a movie. "By the way, how did you feel about watching the movie with Bernard?"
Mentioning the movie, Christina couldn't help but think of the kiss earlier, her eyes lowered, and her expression became a bit unnatural. "It was good, Grandma. But Grandma, why didn't you tell me it was his birthday that day? I didn't prepare a gift."
"Marrying him would be the best gift." Hellen seemed to realize something as she looked at her, and her smile became even brighter.
As they were talking, the phone rang. Christina picked up the phone; it was an unfamiliar number. "Grandma, look, isn't this a job coming right away? I'll take the call!"
Christina stood up, walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, and answered the phone. "Hello."
"Hello, is this Ms. Russell?" The voice on the other end was a girl, sounding particularly respectful.
"Yes, it is. Who is this?"
The girl on the other end briefly explained her purpose. "Ms. Russell, I am Marsha Marie from Starlight Entertainment Group. Our company has a movie and we would like to invite you to play the lead female role. Are you interested?"
"A movie?" Christina was a bit puzzled, "You must have the wrong person."
"Of course not. We saw the advertisement you shot for the Rojas Group and felt that your image perfectly fits the lead female role in our movie. It took us a long time to get your contact information."
Hearing that someone wanted her to play the lead female role, Christina's first reaction was that they had the wrong person. But now, hearing Marsha explain how they found her, Christina no longer doubted that they had the wrong person.
Originally, she shot that advertisement to repay Ruben's favor, but she didn't expect such a follow-up.
"Sorry, thank you for liking my advertisement, but I'm not a professional actress and have no plans to become one. I can't participate in your movie."
Hearing the refusal, Marsha looked a bit troubled and glanced at the director, Curtis Caldwell, sitting next to her. "Mr. Caldwell, Ms. Russell said she has no plans to become an actress."
"She refused?" Curtis was a bit surprised. He had directed many movies and won numerous awards, and there were countless actors who wanted to be in his films.
But the Christina he had his eye on directly refused, and it was for a lead role.
Marsha smiled helplessly and nodded. "Yes, Ms. Russell refused without hesitation."
This refusal made Curtis anxious. He had spent years preparing for this movie. Now everything was ready except for the most suitable actress.
After looking at so many actresses, he found Christina to be the most suitable, but she refused.
"I'll talk to her." In a hurry, Curtis took the phone and said, "Ms. Russell, I'm Curtis, the director of this movie."
The voice on the phone changed to a man, and Christina was slightly startled. "Director? Are you guys scammers?"
"Of course not. I have auditioned many actresses for this lead role. You are the one who best fits the character's temperament. I sincerely invite you to play the role."
Curtis's tone was so sincere that Christina hesitated for a long time before she could bring herself to say. "Sorry, director, I have no acting experience and don't know how to act. I don't want to waste your time."
"Ms. Russell, don't be in a hurry to refuse. Listen to our terms first." Curtis didn't give up and started talking about the benefits of playing the lead role, "If you play our lead role, your salary will be three million dollars. I will arrange an assistant for you, and you won't have to worry about anything in the crew."
Three million dollars?
Wasn't that exactly what Christina needs right now?
Unexpectedly, the three million dollars Christina had been racking her brains to earn could be obtained by just shooting a movie.
If she shot this movie and got the three million dollars, she could directly repay Bernard.
Once the debt was repaid, Christina wouldn't have to be in debt anymore.
It was just a movie. At worst, she could try it, and if she couldn't do it, she wouldn't.
"Alright." After hesitating for a long time, Christina decided to act for the money and experience the life of an actress, "But, let me make it clear first, I really haven't acted before. If I don't do well, you can't blame me."
Hearing her finally agree, Curtis was particularly happy. "Don't worry, I trust my judgment. I will teach you well! Ms. Russell, I'll have Marsha send you the time and address so we can sign the contract and finalize this."
"Okay, send it to me, and I'll be there."
With that settled, Christina hung up the phone and started to worry again.
She agreed for the three million dollars, but how would she explain it to Bernard?
Bernard never wanted her to work outside, let alone become an actress. If it was revealed that Mrs. Mitchell of the Mitchell family was acting for money in the entertainment industry, who knew what people would say about the Mitchell family?
Never mind, she had already agreed, and she was determined to earn this money no matter what.
To create a good atmosphere to tell Bernard about this, Christina specially went to buy groceries nearby and let the maid rest while she cooked a table full of dishes herself.
After cooking, Christina looked at the delicious dishes on the table with satisfaction. "Although I'm not confident in other things, my cooking skills are getting better and better."
She sat down in the dining room and took out her phone. It was already six in the evening, and there was no sign of Bernard coming back. She took out her phone and sent a message: [Bernard, are you coming home today?]
She got a reply shortly after sending the message: [On my way, what's up?]
Hearing that he was on his way home, Christina was delighted: [Nothing, just asking.]
After sending the message, Christina put her phone aside and waited in the dining room.
About half an hour later, Christina heard the sound of a car parking outside. She excitedly rushed out and opened the door to see Bernard walking towards her.
Christina happily waved at him. "Bernard, you're finally back."
This lively and cheerful Christina was something he had never seen before, and Bernard found it a bit novel. "What's up? Do you need something?"
