Chapter 257 What Goes Around Comes Around

Katherine grinned and said, "Wow, Mrs. Mitchell, you really have a great eye for fashion. You recognized the brand and outfit right away!"

With a poised and serious look, Mrs. Mitchell replied, "I attended the Comi dress launch, so it stuck with me. You've got great taste, girl. This dress looks amazing on you, even better than on the runway model."

Katherine accepted the compliment with a graceful smile. "Thank you, Mrs. Mitchell. That's very kind of you."

Impressed by Katherine's composure, Mrs. Mitchell said, "I'm Victoria Mitchell, editor-in-chief of 'Fashion Pyramid.' Ms. Galatea, would you be interested in modeling for us?"

Despite being only 5'5", Katherine had great proportions and striking features that made her stand out.

She politely declined, "Sorry, Mrs. Mitchell, I just started working as a secretary at Mr. Mitchell's company and I don't plan on changing jobs right now."

Mrs. Mitchell looked a bit disappointed. "With your looks, it's a shame to just be a secretary!"

Katherine maintained her smile, "It's an honor to be appreciated by you, Mrs. Mitchell. While I won't switch jobs, I can help with photoshoots in my spare time."

She then turned to her boss, Bernard, and asked, "Mr. Mitchell, would it be okay to take on a part-time job after work?"

Before Bernard could answer, Mrs. Mitchell interjected. "No need to ask him. Would he dare say no? An aunt borrowing an employee from her nephew's company—what reason could he have to refuse? Katherine, right? Give me your phone number, and I'll contact you later."

Feeling cornered, Bernard stayed silent.

Katherine took Mrs. Mitchell's phone and saved her number.

Mrs. Mitchell looked at Katherine with growing satisfaction, sensing a strange familiarity.

Meanwhile, Sophie's face darkened with jealousy as she watched Katherine win Mrs. Mitchell's favor so easily.

Mrs. Mitchell was a big name in the fashion world, and 'Fashion Pyramid' featured only top stars and elites.

How could a small-town girl like Katherine be fit to model for 'Fashion Pyramid'? Sophie couldn't understand what Mrs. Mitchell saw in her!

Just then, Scarlett stepped forward with a sweet smile. "Aunt, why didn't you tell me you needed print models? I've got plenty of free time since I came back. If you need a model, I can help out, so Bernard's secretary doesn't have to. Bernard's company is busy, and if Katherine takes on a part-time modeling job, she might be too swamped!"

Mrs. Mitchell gave her niece a cold look. "Scarlett, it's not that I don't want to ask you, but your look and style don't match 'Fashion Pyramid.'"

Scarlett's smile faltered, and she nodded, feeling hurt. "Alright, Aunt. I guess I was out of line thinking I could help."

Sophie, unable to stand seeing her best friend slighted, jumped in. "Mrs. Mitchell, isn't Scarlett beautiful enough? You forgot she made it to the Miss World finals! If not for health issues, she would've won!"

Mrs. Mitchell glanced at Sophie, then back at Scarlett with a hint of disapproval. "So what if she won Miss World? Scarlett is beautiful, but she lacks the free-spirited confidence and distinctiveness I need. 'Fashion Pyramid' values independence, freedom, and uniqueness, which she doesn't have. Scarlett should focus on her health."

Mrs. Mitchell had never been fond of Scarlett. Her niece always seemed unremarkable, especially around Mr. Melville, acting spineless.

She despised girls who couldn't live without a man. If Scarlett weren't her niece, she wouldn't even bother with her.

Sophie frowned, glaring at Katherine. "Is this Ms. Galatea really better looking than Scarlett? I don't think so!"

Mrs. Mitchell turned to Katherine, her eyes full of admiration. "Ms. Galatea is different. She may look sweet and cute, but there's a heroic spirit in her eyes and a steadfast confidence. Most importantly, she exudes an air of indifference towards men and authority, which is exactly what 'Fashion Pyramid' values!"

Sophie bit her lip in frustration. To her, Katherine was just a natural seductress, even able to charm a strong woman like Mrs. Mitchell!

Scarlett's expression darkened. It was humiliating to be both praised and criticized by her aunt in front of everyone.

Her aunt, always distant from the family, showed such appreciation for Katherine and even extended a sincere invitation. Scarlett was incredibly jealous!

Even Sophie's defense didn't change her aunt's attitude or give her a way out.

Scarlett was so embarrassed she couldn't find a way to escape. She looked towards Bernard, hoping he would defend her. As her eyes wandered, they suddenly lit up!

She saw a familiar figure in the crowd, the person she had been longing for!

Scarlett, excited, called out, "Alex, when did you get here?"

The man stood at the back of the crowd, his height and strong presence unmistakable.

Alex?

Alex!

Katherine's heart skipped a beat, and she looked over sharply.

Sure enough, Alex stood there like a cold, expressionless statue exuding a chill.

Why was he here? Wasn't it said that the Melville family wouldn't attend the Mitchell family's banquet?

Katherine's pupils dilated, and she unconsciously clenched her palms, her mind in turmoil.

In the end, she still ran into him!

Scarlett wove through the crowd and hurried toward the man she admired. "Alex, didn't you go on a business trip yesterday? You're back so soon?"
