Chapter 615 Settle It

Ambrosia wasn't in the mood to chat about this petty stuff with Sunny. "Alright, you head out and wait for me. Got some important biz to handle."

Sunny crossed his arms, looking all grumpy. Since Katherine was in the office, he didn't see himself as an outsider and didn't feel like leaving.

Katherine ignored Sunny and looked up at Ambrosia. "What did the Melville Group's head honcho say?"

Ambrosia shot straight. "We set up a meeting for tomorrow afternoon to hash out the collab details."

Katherine gave a slight nod and stood up. "Got it. No need to kick him out; I'll bounce first so I don't cramp your style."

Ambrosia glanced at Sunny and sighed. "Katherine, you're not in the way. Don't rush off; I'll get him outta here!"

Katherine raised her hand to stop her. "No worries. I'm not leaving 'cause of him. I'm done here and kinda beat. Gonna head back and catch some Z's. You two go ahead and chat."

Ambrosia asked, "Want me to have the driver take you home?"

Katherine waved it off. "Nah, I haven't had a walk in a while. I'll stroll around and grab a cab."

With that, Katherine walked to the office door and left.

Ambrosia, still worried, followed her out and told her secretary to tag along with Katherine and then take her home.

Katherine, finding it a hassle to move around alone, didn't turn down the secretary's company. But she never expected to bump into Alex at the entrance of Crescent Group.

Alex was chilling in his car, window half down, showing off half his face.

Beside the car, Teresa was introducing Anthony to Alex. "Alex, this is my new boyfriend I told you about. His name's Anthony."

Alex's narrow eyes gave Anthony a once-over.

Anthony, all nervous, said, "Alex, I'll take good care of Teresa."

Alex didn't give a hoot about the guy's promises. He just said, "Alright, get in the car."

Anthony was so nervous he didn't move for ages.

Teresa, half amused, half annoyed, nudged him. "Anthony, what are you waiting for? Alex said get in the car!"

Anthony snapped out of it, flustered and scratching his head. "Thanks, Alex!"

As Teresa was pushing Anthony into the car, her eyes landed on Katherine, who was being helped down the steps by Ambrosia's secretary. She was momentarily stunned and then instinctively checked Alex's reaction.

Alex's gaze was also on that side, so he clearly saw Katherine, but his face stayed stone-cold.

Teresa thought Alex would be stoked to see Katherine. Seeing his icy reaction, she was puzzled and tentatively said, "Alex, Katherine's back!"

Alex responded coldly, "I see."

Teresa frowned and asked, "Can I call Katherine over to join us for dinner?"

Alex said, "Do whatever."

After that, Alex rolled up the car window.

Teresa, still trying to figure out what Alex meant, thought for a moment and then dashed over to Katherine. "Katherine, Alex wants you to join us for dinner!"

Katherine had just stepped off the last step. She had seen Alex earlier but quickly looked away.

"Thanks for the invite, but I’ve got other plans," Katherine politely declined.

Teresa was a bit frustrated. "Katherine, what's up with you? Why don't you want to have dinner with Alex?"

Katherine didn’t answer, just gave a slight smile. "Teresa, I think you should address me more formally considering the nature of our relationship."

Teresa was reluctant. "Katherine, haven’t I always called you that? Why..."

"Don’t push it if she doesn’t want to be called that." Before Katherine could respond, the rear window of the black car rolled down again, revealing Alex’s stern face. The previous sentence had come from him.

With Alex having spoken, Teresa reluctantly pouted. "Alright then. Ms. Galatea, please come with us for dinner. Or if you need to go somewhere, I can have Alex give you a ride."

"No need." Katherine shook her head and turned to leave.

Alex’s emotionless voice rang out again. "Get in the car, Ms. Galatea. It’s time to settle things between us, right?"

Katherine stopped, feeling heartache. She thought, 'He’s right; it’s time to settle things. Seems like Alex isn’t obsessed with me, nor does he plan to cling on. The past six months of hiding were pointless; just my wishful thinking.'

Katherine turned to look at him. "Alright, let’s settle it then."

She then instructed Ambrosia’s secretary to head back and walked towards Alex’s car.

Teresa, being perceptive, called Anthony, who had already gotten into the car, to sit in the front passenger seat, and then went to help the heavily pregnant Katherine into the car.

Katherine refused Teresa’s help, letting her get in first.

The back seat could only fit three people. With Alex already in the car, whoever got in first would have to sit in the middle, next to Alex.

Katherine’s intention for Teresa to get in first was clear, and Teresa had no choice but to get in first. No one noticed the change in Alex’s expression.

After getting in the car, Katherine kept her head turned towards the window, watching the scenery pass by.

She had agreed to get in the car because Teresa and Anthony were present. Otherwise, she wouldn’t want to face Alex alone.

The atmosphere in the car was super tense. Even Teresa, who was usually chatty, didn’t know what to say in such an awkward situation. But not speaking made the atmosphere even more suffocating.

Teresa tried to lighten the mood, smiling as she asked, "Katherine, where have you been all this time?"

Katherine replied, "I went to a quiet place."

Teresa was curious. "Were you alone?"
