Chapter 1015 I Am a Regular
"Well, there is something, but let's eat first."
Being able to pay off the debt soon made Christina extremely happy. She instinctively linked her arm with Bernard's and pulled him inside.
Bernard glanced at his arm being held by her, feeling a bit complicated.
When they arrived at the dining room and saw the table full of dishes, Bernard's suspicion grew. "This looks like more than just a little something."
"We'll talk later, let's eat first." Christina smiled playfully, pushing him to sit down and serving him a bowl of soup. "I spent a long time making this soup, and the meat is really tender."
Since she didn't want to talk, Bernard didn't press further. He took the bowl of soup from her and drank it.
As she said, the soup must have taken a long time to make. It tasted good and showed a lot of effort.
After drinking the soup, Bernard looked up and met her eyes, which were full of anticipation.
"How is it?" For the first time, Christina eagerly awaited someone's praise, wanting to know how her cooking was.
Seeing her expectant eyes, Bernard nodded, "It's good."
Hearing Bernard's satisfied response, Christina was happy and sat down to have dinner with him. "Grandpa and Grandma said they have a gathering with old friends tonight, so they won't be coming home."
"Okay." Hellen and Vincent's whereabouts were never something Bernard was informed about, so over time, he stopped caring and just arranged for their protection.
Christina patiently waited until he almost finished dinner before she spoke up, "I received a call today, it's a job offer."
"You're still looking for a job?" Bernard put down his fork and looked at her calmly, "Didn't I tell you, you don't need to find a job?"
Christina had her own persistence, "I think I still need to train myself."
"What kind of job?" Before marrying her, Bernard had Kevin investigate her background.
After graduating, Christina had been kept at home with no formal work experience.
For someone with no work experience and no background, how could a job find her on its own? She must be getting scammed.
"Didn't I help the Rojas Group shoot an ad before? A director saw my ad, his name is Curtis, and he wants me to play the lead role in his movie."
Christina smiled joyfully, holding up three fingers, "The pay is three million dollars!"
Bernard didn't know much about the entertainment industry, but because of Virginia, he was familiar with some famous directors.
This director had indeed made many good films and had a good reputation.
If Christina could really act in his film, it would indeed be a good opportunity.
Christina had good looks, and entering the entertainment industry might be a good path for her.
However, Bernard didn't want his wife to work outside.
"Bernard, can I go?"
Seeing her expectant face, Bernard couldn't bring himself to say no. He didn't want to disappoint Christina, so he just asked, "When will you sign the contract?"
"Tomorrow. He just sent me the time and place." Christina took out her phone, showed him the message from Marsha, and handed it to him.
Bernard looked at the time and place, nodded slightly, and then got up to go back to his room.
"Bernard." Christina stood up and called him softly, "He didn't say yes or no, what does that mean?"
Christina pursed her lips. Since she had told the truth, and Bernard didn't say anything, it should mean he didn't oppose it, right?
Thinking of this, she smiled brightly again, "Whatever, I'll go sign the contract tomorrow!"
This was Christina's first job in her life, and she was so excited that she couldn't sleep all night.
To make a good impression on Curtis and to make him not regret his choice, Christina put on a face mask, applied light makeup, and dressed up carefully before going out.
Who knew, Bernard had already arranged a car to take her to Curtis's company, where the signing ceremony would be held today!
Christina was in a great mood the whole way.
This was the first job she got on her own, and it was a testament to her abilities.
When she arrived at Curtis's company, Christina got out of the car, tidied her clothes, and walked in.
"Hello, I'm here to sign a contract with Mr. Caldwell today."
The receptionist smiled and asked her to wait a moment, then checked the appointment book, "Are you Ms. Russell? Please follow me."
Following the receptionist to the elevator, the receptionist pressed the button and let Christina in. "Mr. Caldwell is on the fifth floor."
"Thank you." Christina thanked her and took the elevator to the fifth floor.
The receptionist watched her go up, then returned to her desk, only to see Virginia walk in wearing sunglasses, "Hello, is Mr. Caldwell in?"
"Are you... Virginia?" The receptionist, though used to seeing many celebrities at work, was meeting Virginia for the first time.
She was a big fan of Virginia, and being close to her idol made her a bit excited.
As a popular artist in the entertainment industry, Virginia was used to such scenes, "Yes, I'm Virginia. I'm here to see Mr. Caldwell. Can I go in?"
Normally, without an appointment, she wouldn't be allowed in, but a big star like Virginia visiting their company to see Curtis was certainly welcome.
"Of course." The receptionist led Virginia to the elevator and pressed the fifth floor, "Mr. Caldwell is on the fifth floor."
Virginia was about to enter the elevator when she suddenly thought of something and turned to ask, "I heard Mr. Caldwell's new movie has already confirmed the lead actress. Do you know who it is?"
"She's a new actress, she just went up. You should be able to see her." The receptionist didn't reveal too much information.
Virginia smiled and entered the elevator, "I'll have my assistant send you a signed photo later, thank you."
The receptionist was thrilled and jumped back to her desk after the elevator doors closed.
On the fifth floor, Virginia stepped out of the elevator and saw Christina standing not far from the elevator.
What was she doing here?
While Virginia was feeling puzzled, Christina also saw her.
Christina hesitated for a moment but decided to greet Virginia, "Ms. Pearl, what a coincidence to run into you here!"
Virginia smiled, though her eyes remained cold. "This is a film company, Christina. As an actress, I'm here quite often. Mr. Caldwell is prepping a new movie and has mentioned several times that he wants me for the lead role. Unfortunately, my schedule is pretty packed. I'm here to see if we can work out the timing."
