Chapter 250 What Is Alex Doing Sitting There?

Katherine never bought clothes that were a hassle to wear, so her wardrobe lacked formal dresses.

Even though she started the Crescent Group, social events were usually handled by Ambrosia and Frank. As the behind-the-scenes boss, shefocused on the company's tech matters, big decisions, and development plans.

Ambrosia knew Katherine hated clothes that restricted movement. Closing her laptop, she asked curiously, "Hmm? Why do you suddenly need to borrow a dress?"

Katherine yawned and said, "I'm going to a banquet with Bernard tomorrow, and he wants me to wear formal attire."

Ambrosia nodded and said, "After dinner, I'll go with you to a high-end store to buy a new dress. My clothes would be too big for you, and they might not fit properly."

Katherine thought for a moment, then reached out and pinched Ambrosia's ample chest. "You're right. Your bust is a size bigger than mine!"

Ambrosia didn't hold back either. She reached out and felt Katherine's size, comforting her, "Don't worry, Katherine. When you have a baby, you'll develop more!"

Katherine shook her head and said, "No! I'm very satisfied with my B-cup. Big breasts look better on others; if they're too big, I find them cumbersome!"

Ambrosia agreed, nodding. "You're right. Your figure is already great. It's a golden ratio, not too big, not too small, just perfect!"

At this moment, Frank, sitting in the front row, had a dark expression and twitched his mouth. "You two really don't see me as a man, do you? Consider my feelings of being left out, OK?"
Ambrosia glanced at Frank indifferently. Not only did they not see him as a man, but sometimes they didn't even see him as a person because they were so familiar with each other, and there was no need to avoid anything.

Ignoring Frank, Ambrosia asked Katherine again, "What do you want to eat tonight?"

Katherine said, "Let's go to that barbecue place we always go to. I've been away from Janetrick for a month and haven't eaten there for a long time."

Ambrosia frowned and advised, "Katherine, you're pregnant now. You should eat more nutritious food. Barbecue isn't healthy!"

Frank was more accommodating to Katherine. "What's the big deal? Eating barbecue occasionally won't hurt her! Katherine's been having severe morning sickness lately, and it's rare for her to crave something! Let's go for barbecue, let's go!"

Ambrosia had no choice but to agree, thinking Frank had a point, so she didn't stop them.

Frank started the car and quickly drove to the barbecue joint.

Katherine smelled the aroma of grilled meat and couldn't wait to get out of the car to order.

Ambrosia suddenly grabbed Katherine, who was about to open the door. "Katherine, wait."

Frank parked the car, unbuckling his seatbelt, and complained, "Ambrosia, I told you not to be so nagging. I said eating barbecue occasionally won't hurt!"

Ambrosia adjusted her gold-rimmed glasses and said seriously, "No! Katherine, look over there. The guy sitting there looks like Alex!"

Hearing Alex's name, Katherine paused and squinted in the direction Ambrosia pointed.

It really was Alex sitting there!

He was sitting alone at a small table on the edge, with a bottle of beer and a plate of skewers on the table.
But he wasn't eating or drinking; he was just sitting there, expressionless, with a kingly demeanor.

The owner of the barbecue stand brought him a bottle of soda, chatting cheerfully.

He didn't smile but nodded slightly in response to the owner's words.

Katherine and the others couldn't hear the conversation between the owner and Alex from their position, but they all found it odd for a man like Alex to be sitting alone at a roadside barbecue stand.

Frank clicked his tongue and remarked, "Katherine, I didn't expect Alex to come here. He actually goes to a roadside stand to eat skewers and drink beer. But why is he alone? Drinking alone is so boring!"

Katherine also found the scene strange. Didn't that man at the hospital in the afternoon say he was catching a flight? Why was he still in Janetrick now?

She remembered the time she came to this roadside stand for dinner, and Alex saw her and joined her to try the skewers. When they left, she was too full to stand up, and Alex held her hand.

Thinking about it now felt awkward!

"Who knows? Maybe he's waiting for someone." Katherine felt disappointed and lost her appetite. "Forget it. Let's go somewhere else."

Frank raised his eyebrows and said, "Waiting for someone? Do you think Alex might be waiting for you, Katherine?"

Katherine rolled her eyes at him. "Nonsense! Drive!"

Exchanging a glance with Ambrosia, Frank drove away from the barbecue stand.

At the barbecue stand, Alex sat at a small table that didn't match his aura, constantly attracting side glances and whispers from others, all guessing his identity.

Because of his strong and oppressive presence, people didn't dare look openly; they only sneaked glances.

After sitting for a few more minutes, Alex got up and left without touching the food on the table.

He walked steadily, ignoring the curious or admiring glances from others.

Leander opened the car door for Mr. Melville, who quietly sighed after getting in and having the door securely closed.

In the past month, Mr. Melville had occasionally visited this small stand and ordered food but never ate, lost in thought.

While others were unaware, he knew it was because his missing wife, Katherine, used to dine here and loved the food.

Before her disappearance, he would sometimes send Leander to buy takeout for her despite his dislike for the grilled meat. He compromised because she enjoyed it.

Initially, Leander believed Ms. Mitchell was Mr. Melville's most important woman because of his constant attention to her.

It was only when Katherine arrived that Leander truly saw Mr. Melville's feelings when he fell for a woman.

Scarlett was someone Mr. Melville felt indebted to for saving his life.

With Katherine, Mr. Melville's emotions were gentle, tolerant, and loving, showing he had fallen deeply in love.

Leander got in the car, sat back in the passenger seat, and reported, "Mr. Melville, there's still no trace of Mrs. Melville."

"A living person can't just disappear into thin air. Keep looking." His voice was calm but carried an unshakable determination and obsession.

"Yes, sir!" Leander nodded, signaling the driver to start the car.

A top-of-the-line Mercedes business car slowly disappeared at the end of the road, driving in the opposite direction of the car that had just briefly stopped by the roadside.
