Chapter 437 She is a Complete Liar
Scarlett was thrown off by the question. No one had ever asked her for these details before, so she hadn't prepared a story. Making something up on the spot could expose her.
"Katherine, it seems like you don't believe me. I told you from the start that it happened so long ago, I can't remember the specifics, and Alex can't either."
Katherine smiled. "No, no, why are you getting upset? Scarlett, I was just thinking how dangerous it was for you to go into the mountains alone at such a young age. It's a good thing you didn't run into any bad people! Just thinking about it worries me for you!"
Scarlett felt Katherine's words made her seem petty, which she didn't like, so she smiled understandingly.
"Katherine, I'm not angry. I just thought you didn't believe me! Actually, you don't need to worry about me as a kid. Our summer villa was nearby, and I'd sneak out for short walks and come back. I wouldn't go far! It was during one of those times that I met the injured Alex."
Katherine nodded. "I see! Can you describe what Alex looked like back then? Was he very young?"
Alex thought, 'Was he very young back then?' That made it sound like I'm very old now! Does she really think I'm old?'
Scarlett pretended to blush and nodded. "Well... Alex was about nineteen, very young and innocent."
Katherine asked eagerly, "Was he much cuter than his current aloof demeanor? Can you describe him in detail?"
Alex's forehead veins bulged, and he was at a loss for words.
Scarlett replied dismissively, "Sorry, Katherine, I'm not very good with words."
Katherine raised an eyebrow. "A rough description will do. For example, what color clothes was he wearing that day?"
Scarlett's face stiffened, and she was momentarily speechless. She had never actually saved Alex, nor had she seen him when he was injured, let alone the color of his clothes!
In fact, she had only passed by the place after Alex had left and was mistaken for Alex's savior by one of his men who had been ordered to stay there. They gave her the bracelet as a token.
Through questioning that man, she learned about Alex's identity and the general situation of how he was injured and saved. So she went along with it and took the place of the real savior.
The first time she actually met Alex was when she went to the Melville Group with the bracelet to claim his promise.
She originally just wanted to use the opportunity to get some benefits from the Melville Group.
Still, when she saw Alex coming out of the office after a meeting, she was deeply attracted to him. He was a young CEO who was youthful and stylish.
With handsome features, like a perfect model, even more dazzling than Bernard, whom she had thought was the most attractive man in the world!
It was that day she fell for Alex at first sight and swore she would marry no one but him!
But she really didn't know what color clothes Alex was wearing when he was injured.

Katherine's face was close to hers. "Hey! Scarlett, what are you thinking about? Why aren't you saying anything?"
Scarlett snapped back to reality and smiled awkwardly. "Nothing, just trying to recall the situation back then."
Katherine smiled. "I see! So, do you remember? What color clothes was Alex wearing?"
This question really stumped Scarlett. But it was so simple that if she said she didn't remember, it would be hard to believe. Alex rarely wore colored clothes, so the answer was likely either black or white. She decided to pick one.
"...It seemed like he was wearing black clothes..."
Hearing this, Alex narrowed his eyes slightly, his gaze inscrutable.
Katherine asked again, "Do you remember where on Alex's body the snake bit him?"
Scarlett's face stiffened again; she really didn't know the specific location of the injury. "Uh... it was on his arm!"
Katherine pressed on. "Left arm or right arm?"
Scarlett was even more clueless. She pretended to be annoyed. "Katherine, why do you keep asking these details? It's like you're interrogating me!"
Katherine laughed. "Because I'm curious! Scarlett, you can't possibly have forgotten such an important detail as whether you sucked the venom from Alex's left arm or right arm, can you?"
Scarlett frowned. "I've already said it was a long time ago; I really can't remember clearly."
Katherine smirked and asked again, "Do you remember what else you did for Alex after sucking out the venom?"
Scarlett looked displeased. "What else? Katherine, I was just a child back then. What else could I have done?"
Katherine furrowed her brow. "Didn't you bring him some food? Just sucking out the venom wouldn't be enough; he would starve even if he didn't die from the poison!"
Scarlett suddenly realized that she had misunderstood Katherine's intentions. Thinking she was jealous, she suspected Katherine of doing something intimate with Alex!
"Of course, I brought food!"
"Oh? What kind of food did you bring Alex?" asked Katherine.
Scarlett didn't dare to be too specific, fearing Alex might catch on to something.
"Just the food I ate at home, saving some each day to secretly bring to Alex."
Katherine deliberately asked for specifics, "Like what?"
Scarlett couldn't avoid the question. "Like some... dry food, bread, ham, things like that. I don't remember clearly, just things that were easy to carry."
She thought Alex’s real saviour probably brought similar food. What else could it be? It couldn't have been gourmet meals every day!
At this moment, Alex's face had darkened, and his gaze at Scarlett had become extremely cold and fierce, with no trace of gratitude for his supposed savior.
Katherine stopped questioning Scarlett, turned to Alex, raised an eyebrow, and smiled, "Alex, listen to how well Scarlett treated you back then! In such a poor place, she still brought you bread and ham every day!"
Alex furrowed his brow deeply; he had understood Katherine's intention. Scarlett hadn't just lied today; she hadn't just fabricated her infertility. She was a lie herself; she had never saved him from the beginning!
