Chapter 92 After Tonight, You Belong to Mr. Melville
After Katherine and Leander agreed on the time and place, Katherine hung up the phone, pulled out a chair, and sat down. She was a bit hungry and wanted to eat something.
Sherry suggested the hotel they had just agreed upon.
Sherry had later leaned in to listen to the response on the other end of the phone. When she heard that Mr. Melville had accepted the dinner invitation, she started whispering in Katherine's ear to arrange the meeting at the hotel. Katherine had no objections and relayed the message as it was.
Just as Katherine picked up her utensils to start eating, Sherry suddenly snatched them away!
"Stand up! Who told you to sit down? Who told you to eat?" Sherry shouted.
Katherine frowned, then asked, "Sherry, I've already solved the problem. Shouldn't I be able to eat now?"
Sherry glared at her with disdain, then retorted, "What problem have you solved? Mr. Melville still didn't come back for this meal! Although it's rescheduled for tonight, you haven't compensated me for the loss I incurred on this meal!"
Katherine looked down at the table full of dishes, then advised, "But you've already ordered the food. You can't finish all this by yourself, can you?"
Sherry scoffed, "If I can't finish it, I'll pack it up and take it home. It's not your place to eat it! Do you think you deserve to eat such expensive food from Taste of the Clouds? Do you even know what it means to savor fine cuisine? If a country girl like you eats this, Taste of the Clouds would be ashamed to have you lower their average guests!"
Katherine let out a cold laugh, obediently stood up, and replied, "Alright then, I'll leave."
Sherry glared and sneered. "Leave? Where are you going?"
"I took the afternoon off, and you agreed. So now I'm going home to rest!" she then responded.
"I agreed before, but now I don't! Katherine, how dare you leave? Stop right there!" Sherry called out.
Seeing Katherine walking out, Sherry called after her but to no avail. She was so angry that she stood up to chase after her, but her phone rang at that moment. It was a call from Lillian.
Sherry had no time to deal with Katherine and answered the phone, "Hello? Mom."
On the other end, Lillian urgently asked, "Sherry, how's the endorsement deal with the Crescent Group going?"
Sherry, glaring in the direction Katherine had left, replied to Lillian, "The endorsement deal is almost settled, but now there's another issue! Mom, come to Taste of the Clouds and find me. I ordered a table full of food, and I can't finish it alone!"
"Taste of the Clouds? Why are you eating at such an expensive place by yourself?" Lillian inquired.
"Ugh! It's all that damn Katherine's fault! Mom, come over. I'll explain everything. Just don't let Dad know!" Sherry said.
"Alright, wait there. I'll be right over!" Lillian answered.
Twenty minutes later, Lillian arrived at Taste of the Clouds.
"Sherry, what happened? Tell me everything!" Lillian sat down in a hurry, eager to know what was going on.
Sherry recounted everything that happened after meeting Alex, including the plan to meet him at the hotel that evening.
After hearing everything, Lillian was very excited and supportive, then she said, "Sherry, you're right to meet him at the hotel tonight! Make sure to seize this opportunity and win over Mr. Melville!"
Sherry felt uneasy and said, "Mom, I do like Mr. Melville a lot, but he's already married. That's why I'm hesitant. What if..."
Lillian dismissed her concerns and then remarked, "So what if he's married? Back in the day, I pushed your dad's useless wife out of the picture to get where I am today! If a woman can't keep her man, that's her fault. Everyone relies on their abilities! Sherry, let me tell you, being the lover of a man like Mr. Melville is far better than being the wife of an ordinary man! Besides, there's plenty of time. You won't lack opportunities to become his official partner in the future!"
Sherry thought Lillian made a lot of sense, but she still felt a bit scared. Sherry then responded, "But Alex is so aloof. I'm a little afraid to get close to him."
"He's a member of the Melville family, a man who has had everything at his fingertips since childhood. It's normal for him to be a bit aloof. Sherry, don't worry. After dinner, I'll take you to get something special!" Lillian said lightly.
"What special thing?" Sherry asked.
"You'll find out soon enough!" Lillian answered.
Sherry found her mother mysterious. Knowing Lillian always had more tricks up her sleeve, she figured it must be something special.
After a big meal at Taste of the Clouds, Lillian took Sherry to the market.
Sherry, wearing a hat and sunglasses, couldn't hide her disgust.
She felt that the market was beneath her status as a big star, so she asked, "Mom! Why did you bring me to a farmers' market?"
Lillian smiled cunningly. "Aren't you cooking dinner for Mr. Melville tonight? We need to buy some ingredients in advance!"
Sherry pouted, "I don't know how to cook. I'll just order some dishes from a restaurant and pretend I made them!"
Lillian pulled Sherry to a secluded spot and whispered, "You don't understand. These mushrooms I'm buying have a nickname: lover's mushrooms. They are great for enhancing male libido! Once Mr. Melville eats them, he won't be able to resist you! Tonight, I'll help you cook at the hotel and then leave. After tonight, you'll be Mr. Melville's woman!"
Sherry blushed, looking at the bag of vegetables and mushrooms with a mix of surprise and anticipation. She thought Lillian was truly a wise woman to come up with such an idea!
Meanwhile, Katherine had just taken a cab back to the Melville Manor. As she got out and was about to enter, a white van approached.
The driver rolled down the window and waved, asking for directions, "Miss, can you tell me which building the Melville Manor is?"
Katherine stopped and looked at the chubby driver wearing sunglasses, asking, "What business do you have with the Melville Manor?"
The driver grinned and answered, "I have a delivery for the Melville Manor and the address isn’t clear. I only know it's around here, but I don't know the exact house!"
She raised an eyebrow warily and said, "What kind of delivery?"
"Just some daily supplies, fruits, and vegetables. They're all in the back!" The driver said cheerfully, pointing his thumb towards the back of the van.
Katherine glanced towards the back of the van.
Suddenly, the side door of the van slid open from the inside, and a masked man leaned out, spraying something from a canister into Katherine's face. She instantly lost consciousness!
Before she could collapse to the ground, the unconscious Katherine was roughly pulled into the van. The door slammed shut, and the white van sped away, disappearing from the entrance of the Melville Manor.
