Chapter 757 Once a Married Couple

Sunny shrugged. "Alright! I'll go explore the area on my own. I'll be back around noon to join you for lunch!"

Katherine gave him a disapproving look and set down her coffee cup. "I knew that was your main goal!"

Sunny grinned, got up, and strolled out, not disturbing Katherine's work anymore.

Katherine sat alone for a while, her expression somewhat complicated, lost in thought. After a moment, she got up and went back to work.

Sunny left the Melville Group to hang out with some friends in the same neighborhood, and soon it was noon.

His friends invited him to lunch, but he didn't go with them. After having enough fun, he decided to go back to find Katherine.

While playing games with his friends, someone handed him a low-alcohol drink, so now he couldn't drive himself.

He had to call a cab to head back to the Melville Group. On the way, they passed by his own company, the Mitchell Group. Sunny remembered something and asked the driver to stop for a moment, then took out his phone to call Bernard.

"Bernard, where are you? Let's have lunch together? I'm about to go find Katherine for lunch!"

Bernard replied in a deep voice, "I have something to do this afternoon, can't make it. Don't upset Katherine."

Sunny laughed heartily, "Bernard, do you still think I'm that immature jerk from ten years ago? I've grown up now, I won't make Katherine angry!"

Bernard replied, "I hope so!"

"By the way, Bernard, what's keeping you so busy that you can't even have lunch during your break?"

"That's not your business. Don't pry into everything."

Sunny felt a bit annoyed at being scolded for his concern, "Never mind, if you don't want to tell me, I won't ask. I'm going to find Katherine! Bye!"

After hanging up, Sunny was about to tell the cab driver to continue to the Melville Group when he suddenly saw Bernard walking out of the Mitchell Group's main entrance. Bernard walked towards a black business car, told the driver to get out, and drove off himself.

Bernard driving himself? Was it a private meeting?

Sunny got curious, wondering if Bernard was sneaking off during lunch to meet a woman.

After thinking it over, Sunny found Bernard's "romance" more intriguing than having lunch with Katherine. So he told the cab driver, "Turn around and follow that car!"

Bernard drove to the hotel he had checked into yesterday. He hadn't checked out and used his card to enter the same suite.

The hotel wasn't close to the Mitchell Group, and they encountered a traffic jam caused by an accident, taking over an hour to get there.

Billy had been staying in the suite, watching the movements across the hall through the peephole.

Bernard was wary of a possible trick, suspecting that Alex's promise of meeting at 2 PM the next day was a delaying tactic, so he had Billy stay and keep watch.

However, there had been no movement from across the hall, and they hadn't moved out.

As soon as he entered the suite, Bernard took off his coat, sat on the sofa, and checked his watch.

It was a little past 1 PM, and soon it would be 2 PM, the time he had agreed to meet Alex. Once Billy saw Sophia leave, Bernard planned to go over and find out why Alex had disappeared for three years.

"Mr. Mitchell, Sophia has left!" Billy reported to Bernard after seeing through the peephole that Sophia, dressed and carrying her bag, had walked out of the door across the hall.

Bernard squinted his eyes; she was leaving earlier than expected.

He stood up and said, "I'm going over to talk to that bastard now. Keep an eye out, and if Sophia comes back, notify me immediately."

Billy nodded. "Yes, sir!"

Bernard opened the door and walked out. The hallway was empty, with no sign of Sophia. He went up and knocked on the door across the hall.

After about a minute, the suite door opened.

Just like yesterday, Bernard had to lower his gaze to see Trevor sitting in the wheelchair.

Trevor looked up at him, his calm eyes showing no surprise at Bernard's early visit. He simply said, "You're here."

Bernard responded coldly, confirming, "Sophia won't be back soon, right?"

Trevor nodded. "Come in."

At Trevor's invitation, Bernard stepped into their suite, which had a layout almost identical to his own across the hall.

Trevor gestured with his chin towards the sofa, "Have a seat. I'll get you something to drink."

Bernard raised his hand, "No need, I'm not here for a drink."

Trevor, who had been about to head to the kitchen, stopped and turned back, "Alright, go ahead and ask what you need to ask."

Bernard sat down, looking Trevor in the eye, his gaze lingering on Trevor's legs, which could no longer stand. After a moment, he asked, "How did your legs get injured?"

Trevor replied, "Car accident."

Bernard let out a sarcastic laugh, "If I'm not mistaken, your amnesia is also because of that car accident?"

Trevor nodded, "That's what they say."

Bernard's eyebrows twitched, "They?"

Trevor's face remained emotionless as he answered, "Because of the amnesia, all my background and experiences were told to me by others."

Bernard scrutinized him, trying to determine if he was lying.

Seeing no signs of deceit on Trevor's face, Bernard asked, "And the child with you, you don't remember how he came to be?"

Trevor replied, "I don't remember. They say Julian is my child with Sophia. He's been with me since I can remember."

Seeing Trevor's apparent lack of memory and thinking of the suffering Katherine had endured over the years, Bernard clenched his fists in anger, "You've conveniently forgotten everything and are living carefree! You don't remember, so let me tell you! That child was stolen by you from the delivery room while Katherine was giving birth, under the guise of being her husband!"

Trevor was taken aback, and then a look of doubt crossed his face, "Katherine? Are you saying I was married to a woman named Katherine?"

Bernard wanted to nod affirmatively, but Katherine and this bastard Alex had never registered their marriage!
