Chapter 682 When You're Done Playing
Hearing Teresa's words, Anthony felt a bit helpless. After hesitating for a moment, he nodded, "Alright then, I'll head back to work. Just remember to call me when you get home."
Teresa nodded. "Okay, don't worry, I'll call you as soon as I get home."
Anthony reluctantly pulled Teresa into a hug, and after giving Frank a meaningful glance, he hailed a cab and left.
Because of Anthony's hug, Teresa's body felt a bit stiff.
She had been dating Anthony for a while, but there had never been any particularly intimate gestures. Every time Anthony tried to get close, she would instinctively pull away.
It wasn't that she wasn't serious about dating Anthony. She genuinely thought Anthony was great. But she couldn't explain why she just couldn't accept his intimate gestures, and she felt embarrassed about them.
Lost in thought, she heard Frank's gentle voice. "Wait in the car, it's chilly at night."
Teresa snapped back to reality, and as she looked at Frank, she met his beautiful eyes. She instinctively looked away.
She nodded, then got into his car and sat in the back seat.
Frank didn't return to the front seat but instead sat in the back with her.
Seeing Frank in the back made Teresa feel a bit awkward, but spotting Ambrosia in the front passenger seat eased her discomfort.
Unexpectedly, Ambrosia very "considerately" raised the partition between the front and back seats.
Suddenly, Teresa regretted getting into this car.
Sensing Teresa's unease, Frank chuckled, "Why are you so nervous?"
Teresa awkwardly said, "I'm not nervous, I'm just worried about Alex."
Frank scooted closer on purpose. "Really? Not because of me?"
Teresa was startled as she nervously looked at the suddenly closer Frank. "What are you doing?"
Frank looked at her with a smile. "Still saying it's not because of me?"
Teresa turned her face away in embarrassment. "Don't do this. If you keep this up, I'll get out of the car."
Frank stopped teasing her as he moved a bit farther away, then he sighed somewhat sadly, and asked, "How many times have you two hugged like that?"
Teresa didn't understand. "What?"
Frank said, "I mean, how many times have you and Anthony hugged like that?"
Teresa frowned, feeling his question was a bit odd. "Why should I answer a question like that?"
Frank looked at her and gave a bitter smile. "You don't have to answer, but I can't help but ask because I'm jealous."
Teresa paused for a moment, quite shocked. What did he say?
Frank laughed self-deprecatingly. "It's the first time I've been jealous because of a woman. So this is what it feels like. It's quite unpleasant."
Teresa looked at Frank, her heart racing.
She couldn't tell from his handsome face whether he was sincere, but she was indeed moved.
And she knew she shouldn't feel this way. This mindset was wrong.
She shouldn't have feelings for Frank right after Anthony left.
Frank said, "Do I really have no chance?"
Teresa paused for a moment, then she forcibly turned her head to look at the police station gate outside the car window. "This is not the time to talk about this. You better not say anything. I just want to wait for Alex and Katherine to come out."
Frank didn't say anything more.
Up in the front seat, Ambrosia had raised the partition between the front and back, but the soundproofing was terrible, so she heard everything.
Frank deserved it.
She pulled out a box of fancy ladies' cigarettes from the console, grabbed one, and was about to light it when the car door suddenly opened. Sunny slid in with a fierce look and snatched the cigarette from her hand.
Ambrosia frowned. "What are you doing?"
Sunny said seriously, "I don't like you smoking."
Ambrosia ignored him, pulled out another cigarette, and Sunny snatched that one too. "You can't smoke."
Ambrosia was getting impatient. "It's none of your business."
Sunny said earnestly, "It is my business. I'm your boyfriend."
Ambrosia laughed, "I just didn't reject you. I never agreed to you being my boyfriend."
Sunny frowned. "What nonsense are you talking about? I am your boyfriend. We even had sex."
Ambrosia adjusted her gold-rimmed glasses. "I've had sex with many men, not just you. Are they all my boyfriends?"
She pulled out another cigarette, put it in her mouth, and this time, dodged Sunny's hand while lighting it. She took a puff and blew smoke at him. "If you can't handle it, don't play with me. It's no fun if you take it seriously."
Sunny frowned tightly. "I'm not playing with you."
Ambrosia took another puff and smiled, "But I've always been playing with you."
Sunny, not believing it, gritted his teeth. "You're lying. You clearly said you liked me."
Ambrosia said flippantly, "I do like you. Who doesn't like a young body? And I not only like you. I like all young boys."
Sunny was furious. "You..."
Ambrosia, holding her cigarette, looked at Bernard's car not far away. "Did Bernard not stop you from coming over?"
Sunny said, "It wouldn't matter if he did. I can listen to Bernard about anything, but when it comes to you, I won't listen to him. Ambrosia, you don't have to worry about my family not agreeing to us being together. Katherine is my sister, and she'll help us. Katherine holds a lot of sway with Bernard. If she agrees, Bernard won't oppose."
Ambrosia took a drag of her cigarette and said casually, "Even if your family agrees, I won't marry you. Don't overthink it."
Sunny was very angry but more hurt. "Why won't you marry me?"
Ambrosia looked at him through the smoke, not very seriously. "Because I'm not done playing yet."
Sunny, never having endured such frivolous treatment before, gritted his teeth.
But in the end, he didn't explode, and after taking a deep breath, he said, "Then I'll wait until you're done playing. It's okay, I'm young, I have plenty of time to wait."
Ambrosia paused for a moment, then looked thoughtfully at Sunny. "What do you like about me?"
Sunny replied, "I don't know."
Ambrosia sneered, "You don't know what you like about me, yet you're so sure? I think you're the one who's not clear-headed."
Sunny angrily said, "I'm very clear-headed."
