Chapter 956 The Wedding Day
Having finalized the plan to propose at the end of the wedding, Sunny happily ran off to make preparations.
Katherine watched Sunny run off and nudged Alex beside her with her elbow, "Alex, did you hear that? Sunny is getting a diamond ring the size of a pigeon egg for his proposal! What did you get for me?"
Alex looked down at Katherine, "Why don't you check your assets?"
Katherine wasn't really interested in diamonds; she just wanted to tease Alex. She didn't expect that he had actually prepared something!
So, she quickly checked her assets and found that just this morning, she had acquired the largest diamond mine abroad!
Katherine's mouth twitched, "Alex, you..."
Alex affectionately brushed her face, "I know you never liked wearing jewelry, so I got you something different. It's a small mine where you can dig for fun. I bought this wedding gift with my private savings, and besides that, I have no money left. I've given it all to you!"
Katherine pouted, "You actually had private savings!"
"Not anymore!"
On the wedding day, it caused a sensation in Janetrick. Alex from the Melville family married an unknown bride. The two promised a lifetime of never parting in front of the priest.
Business elites from all over the country attended the wedding to offer their blessings.
What the guests didn't expect was a surprise at the end of the ceremony. Sunny from the Mitchell family went on stage to propose to Ambrosia, the CEO of the Crescent Group.
Ambrosia wished she could disappear into the ground, or rather, shove Sunny into the ground!
Amidst the guests' applause and blessings, Ambrosia had no choice but to accept Sunny's proposal, put on the pigeon egg-sized diamond ring he offered on one knee, and quickly pulled him off the stage!
She liked Sunny, but she didn't like such high-profile displays of affection. The excessive attention made her uncomfortable.
Moreover, he proposed at Katherine's wedding, knowing she wouldn't refuse in front of Katherine.
Sunny, that cunning bastard, had indeed changed. He was no longer the simple, easy-to-bully person he used to be!
Off the stage, Sunny happily followed Ambrosia to a quiet place, embracing his future bride like a man who had just received the greatest gift in the world. "Ambrosia, this is great! You finally agreed to marry me!"
Ambrosia was about to complain, "Sunny, you..."
Before she could finish her complaint, Sunny kissed her passionately, leaving no room for objection.
After what felt like an eternity, the kiss finally ended.
Sunny, still unsatisfied, said, "Ambrosia, Katherine and Alex are going on a honeymoon around the world with their kids. Why don't we go too?"
Ambrosia, slightly out of breath from the kiss, blushed and angrily said, "Haven't you disturbed them enough? I'm not going, and I don't have time!"
Sunny hugged her and whined, "Even if we don't go, Katherine and Alex won't be alone! Those four kids are more of a disturbance than us! If we go, we can help take care of the kids! Come on! Just let Frank handle the company. You trust him, don't you?"
"No, I..."
Before she could refuse, Sunny kissed her again!
He wasn't asking for her opinion; he was informing her.
On the other side.
The Mitchell family now knew that Katherine was their long-lost granddaughter, Laura. Because of a wrongful conviction years ago, Claire and her granddaughter Laura suffered a lot. Now, the Mitchell family didn't dare ask Katherine to return to the family, nor did they dare hope that Katherine would marry from the Mitchell family. Being allowed to attend Laura's wedding today was already a great privilege!
As for the long-standing feud between the Mitchell family and the Melville family, they decided to let it go. They couldn't bear to disrupt the hard-earned happiness of Katherine!
Laura was willing to marry into the Melville family, but if the Melville family ever dared to bully Laura, the Mitchell family would not stand for it. They would be Katherine's strongest support!
After being discharged from the hospital, Claire returned to her maiden home. Today, she and her family from her maiden home attended Katherine's wedding. When she went on stage to give a speech, she was in tears, offering all the blessings she could think of to Katherine, hoping she would have a happy and smooth life.
Katherine gave Claire a hug, wiped her tears, and reassured her.
Not wanting to affect Katherine's mood on her wedding day, Claire quickly stepped off the stage. Her good friend Nora came over and handed her a tissue to wipe her sweat and tears and touch up her makeup.
"Alright, stop crying! Katherine marrying her beloved man is a good thing. You're crying so much that your makeup is ruined!"
Claire looked up at Nora, smiling through her tears, "Nora, I'm not sad, I'm moved! My Laura has finally found happiness!"
Nora nodded, "Yes, it's wonderful! These two lovers are finally together!"
Claire took a tissue to wipe her tears and remembered to ask about Nora's situation, "Nora, how have you been lately? Does Brent..."
Nora smiled with relief, "He was sentenced! Ten years, not too long! It's okay, I can wait for him. Hopefully, this time in prison will help him change his bad temper. When he gets out, we'll live a stable life!"
Claire was stunned, then smiled bitterly and appreciatively, giving Nora a big hug, sincerely hoping she would have a good future.
While hugging Nora, Claire inadvertently saw Edwin from the Mitchell family stand up and walk towards her.
What was Edwin coming over for?
Claire quickly jumped away from Nora, "Nora, I just remembered something, let's meet for afternoon tea another day and chat then!"
With that, she turned and ran as if she had seen something terrifying.
Linda, standing next to Nora, tilted her head in confusion, "Mom, what's wrong with Ms. Ayers? She's running so fast!"
Nora had a guess, turned her head, and saw Edwin walking in the direction Claire had gone.
Edwin nodded politely to Nora, as a greeting, then quickened his pace to follow Claire.
Nora sighed and answered Linda, "Claire is also troubled by love!"
Linda scratched her head, not quite understanding.
Claire ran to the garden behind the church, sat down, and caught her breath, clutching her chest.
"Claire, how long are you going to avoid me?"
