Chapter 752 The Jerk Becomes the CEO
Sunny had made significant progress over the past three years. After graduation, he was sent to work at a branch office abroad, and now he could handle things on his own.
This made Bernard very pleased. Sunny was finally no longer the irresponsible jerk he used to be!
Tomorrow, Bernard would arrange a position for Sunny in the company to give him more experience.
The Mitchell Mansion.
After three years, Sunny was coming home for the first time.
There was no place like home. He lazily leaned on the sofa, resting his head on his arms.
He glanced at Edwin, who had just hung up the phone, and asked, "Bernard isn't coming back, right?"
Edwin put the phone aside and said to Sunny, "Bernard has something to do today. He'll come back to see you tomorrow."
Sunny, unsurprised and indifferent, said, "I knew Bernard wouldn't drop everything to come back for me!"
Despite his words, Sunny didn't feel any anger towards Bernard.
In the past three years, even though he hadn't come home or seen Edwin, Hellen, and Vincent, Bernard visited him at school every month, bringing him gifts and necessities. Of course, each visit came with a few scoldings, but Sunny knew it was all for his own good.
Despite being somewhat afraid of Bernard, Sunny had always had a good relationship with him. The only issue was the age gap, which sometimes created a bit of a generational divide.
After having dinner with Edwin, Hellen, and Vincent, Sunny grabbed his car keys and mentioned that some friends had invited him out to catch up. Then he left.
Nowadays, he had truly grown into a mature adult, and the family no longer controlled him as they used to. He had the freedom to go out whenever he wanted.
At a business banquet in Janetrick.
In the VIP section, Ambrosia swirled a glass of red wine out of boredom and asked Frank, who was sitting next to her, "What's the story with Sophia's husband? Have you found anything?"
Frank, casually crossing his legs but with a hint of worry on his face, replied, "It's tough to get any information. Sophia's being very cautious. All we know is that her husband is disabled and has to use a wheelchair, but we haven't been able to find a single photo of him."
A wheelchair? Disabled? Ambrosia squinted her eyes, recalling that the last image of Alex before he disappeared was of him in a wheelchair at the airport!
Could Sophia's husband really be Alex?
As she pondered, Frank suddenly nudged her with his elbow, almost causing her to spill her wine.
Ambrosia snapped out of it, glaring at Frank with displeasure, "What are you doing?"
Frank was looking in a certain direction and nodded towards it, saying, "Look who's over there? Ambrosia, your old flame is back!"
Ambrosia thought Frank was being ridiculous and looked in the direction he indicated, only to be stunned.
It was Sunny.
Sunny was over there, toasting and chatting with some business elders, exuding maturity and stability, a stark contrast to the reckless and immature person he used to be.
He looked very spirited and no longer the skinny man from three years ago. Now, he had become robust, with a physique that could easily attract women's attention.
As she watched him, Sunny seemed to sense her gaze and looked over.
The moment their eyes met, Sunny smiled and raised his glass to her as a distant greeting, then continued his conversation with those around him, handling everything with ease.
Frank marveled, "Incredible, from a jerk to a CEO!"
Ambrosia withdrew her gaze indifferently and took a sip of her wine, "Not cute at all anymore."
Frank complained, "You used to think he was too immature, and now you think he's not cute? Ambrosia, what exactly do you want?"
Ambrosia put down her wine, "I don't want any of them. I'm going to the restroom."
With that, she adjusted her gold-rimmed glasses and walked towards the restroom.
The restroom at this banquet hall had a shared sink area for both men and women. When Ambrosia came out of the restroom to wash her hands, she saw a man washing his hands at the sink.
From his back and the reflection in the mirror, she recognized it was Sunny.
But she didn't stop. She naturally walked over to wash her hands, her face showing no sign of emotion.
Sunny looked at her through the mirror, "Long time no see, Ambrosia."
Ambrosia responded while washing her hands, "Yes, long time no see."
Sunny smiled politely, "Ambrosia, you seem to have changed a lot."
Ambrosia raised an eyebrow, "Really? How so?"
Sunny smiled and said, "Your skin has gotten worse, and your face is a bit saggy. Time really doesn't spare anyone. You're not as attractive as you were three years ago."
Seeing her not respond, Sunny frowned in frustration, "Ambrosia, I was just joking. You're not really mad, are you?"
Ambrosia finished washing her hands and said indifferently, "No, you're right. For someone your age, I am indeed a bit old."
She didn't linger on Sunny, turning to grab a paper towel to dry her hands.
Just as she turned, her shoulders were gripped by a pair of strong hands and she was spun back around!
Ambrosia was startled, looking at Sunny who had turned her back, waiting for him to explain what he was doing.
Sunny held her shoulders, looking down at her face, "You know, when I look closely, you don't seem that old. You've got good features, and those few lines actually add to your charm."
As he spoke, he leaned in closer.
Ambrosia had to admit, Sunny had become even more handsome, adding a touch of masculine allure to his youthful good looks.
She couldn't resist the temptation and didn't feel it would be a loss to be kissed by him, so she slowly closed her eyes.
Unexpectedly, instead of what she anticipated, she heard a light laugh.
Sunny laughed heartily, "Ambrosia, why did you close your eyes? Did you think I was going to kiss you?"
Ambrosia's eyes snapped open, seeing the teasing look in the eyes of the once earnest and passionate boy.
She realized she had been tricked!
She didn't say anything, just adjusted her gold-rimmed glasses.
Sunny continued, "Sorry to disappoint you! I have a girlfriend now and would never kiss another woman. I'm very loyal, unlike you."
What a sarcastic remark!
Ambrosia, expressionless, praised, "Well, that's great. You're a good man. I can't compare!"
Seeing her lack of reaction, Sunny raised his hand and reached out.
