Chapter 80 Mother's Reputation Ruined by Them
Katherine returned to the Galatea Family.
"Joshua, I'm back," Katherine said lightly.
Just as Katherine spoke, Lillian rushed over and stopped her at the entrance, pretending to be concerned. She said, "Katherine, maybe you shouldn't go in just yet. Joshua is still mad at you."
Katherine raised an eyebrow lightly, and then asked, "Lillian, what's going on? Why is Joshua mad at me?"
Lillian raised her voice intentionally, "Joshua already knows that you offended the investors of your sister's new movie yesterday. Katherine, maybe you should stay away for now. It's for your good. I'm afraid Joshua might end up hurting you in his anger."
Katherine watched Lillian's performance quietly, smiling without saying a word. If Lillian truly cared for her, she could have simply called to advise her not to come home for the time being instead of waiting for her to enter the house to say these pointless words. These tricks of pretending to kind-hearted were only effective on Joshua.
At that moment, Joshua's irritable voice came from inside, "Has that clueless daughter returned? Tell her to come in right away!"
Lillian, who had just been stopping Katherine, no longer stood in her way and hurried inside to persuade Joshua.
"Joshua, don't be angry. The die has been cast. Even if you beat Katherine to death today, it won't help Sherry recover her losses," Lillian said.
Lillian's persuasion only made Joshua angrier. Originally without any tools in hand, he grabbed a broom nearby and raised it, saying, "If I don't hit her today, it won't ease my burning resentment, nor will it do justice to the grievances you and Sherry have suffered."
Katherine walked into the living room from the entrance. She saw Joshua who was waving the broom to hit her and Lillian who was pretending to stop him but actually fanning the flames. Sherry was sitting on the sofa, crying into her hands, with her shoulders shaking from the sobs, making her appear much wronged.
As soon as Joshua saw Katherine, his anger flared up again, and he cursed loudly, "You troublemaker, come here, kneel down to apologize and take your punishment!"
Katherine remained calm, looking at her father calmly, and asked, "Why do you want to hit me, Dad?"
"Don't you understand?" Joshua's voice rose in anger, "Did Sherry not care for you, helping you find a job as her assistant and even giving you a high salary?"
Katherine furrowed her brows in confusion and answered, "Well... I guess so."
Joshua questioned with frustration, "Then how did you repay your sister?"
Katherine replied earnestly, "I worked diligently to repay Sherry for taking care of me."
Joshua stared and repeated, "Work diligently? Have you really been working diligently? Your sister just recently signed with a new company and got a role in a movie by the famous director Kenny. Yesterday, she asked you to accompany her to a social event, and you ended up burning the hand of the movie's investor. Katherine, what were you thinking?"
Katherine admitted, and then explained, "Okay, I admit I did that, but it wasn't intentional."
Joshua raised the broom in his hand, pointing at her angrily, "That's it? Because of your mistake yesterday, your sister's new movie lost its funding and can't start filming. This was Kenny's new project, and any artist who stars in Mr. Reid's films becomes an international superstar. Do you realize you've ruined your sister's future? She is the only one in our family who has made a name for herself. Her career has finally managed to climb to the next level , but now it's all ruined because of you!"
Lillian lamented, "Katherine, this time you've really messed up. I know you might feel jealous seeing your sister outshine you, but you shouldn't ruin her career over it. Alas!"
Sherry, tears streaming down her face, looked up and said, "Katherine, I've been good to you. I kindly ask you to be my assistant and advance you four thousand dollars in salary. Who else would pay their assistant such a high wage in advance? Why did you have to harm me? "
Lillian hurried to comfort her daughter and said, "Sherry, don't cry. We know how you feel. Katherine might be jealous of you and ruin your career, but she's still our family member. Just consider it a moment of confusion on her part; don't hold it against her."
Joshua felt even more distressed hearing this, looking at Katherine with disappointment and anger, and then continued, "Look at this! Look at how good Lillian is to you, still trying to convince Sherry not to blame you! And you?"
Katherine smirked slightly.
Joshua wanted to hit her with the broom but seemed to remember something that held him back. In the end, he didn't strike her, angrily throwing the broom aside and saying, "I won't hit you today. Pack your things and go back to the countryside immediately. Don't come back to Janetrick for anything. Also, because of the losses you caused this time, you can forget about your share of the inheritance. I'll give it to your sister as compensation."
After Joshua's words, Katherine saw Lillian and Sherry exchange a sly smile.
In reality, even if she hadn't accidentally gotten Alex's hand burned yesterday, they wouldn't have invested as well.
Surely, Sherry was well aware of this fact.

Sherry disdainfully snorted, "Katherine, you speak so lightly of it. How can you recover my losses? Can you invest millions in Mr. Reid's new movie for me?"
Katherine shook her head and replied, "No, I don't have the money."
Sherry provoked, "Then how do you plan to recover the losses? At this point, are you still in the mood to play games with us?"
Joshua frowned, showing annoyance.
Katherine said, "I don't have the money, but I know someone who does."
