Chapter 382 Sweet Love
Katherine bolted out of the coffee shop, worried Alex might leave without her.
Teresa glanced out the window and followed her.
"Alex!"
Alex was about to get in the car when he heard a familiar voice. He turned and saw Katherine running toward him. She jumped into his arms, hugging him tightly.
Alex instinctively held her steady. "Why are you here?"
Katherine wrapped her arms around his neck. "I was bored at home, so I came to pick you up!"
Alex's stern eyes softened. "You came to pick me up? That's sweet."
Katherine rested her head on his shoulder. "You don't like it?"
Alex laughed. "You rarely do this. Of course, I like it. But you shouldn't be running around like this. Just wait for me at home. I'll come straight home after work."
Katherine tightened her grip. "I'm just pregnant, not sick! The doctor said staying active is good for the baby. It'll make our child healthy and strong!"
Alex frowned. He wasn't worried about her being active but about potential dangers outside. Many people were watching the Melville Group, and he feared for her safety.
He ruffled her hair, deciding not to argue now. He'd talk it over at home.
The security team was stunned. They'd never seen Alex so gentle. It was a rare sight.
Alex looked at Leander nearby. "Leave the car. You and the driver can go home."
"Yes, sir."
Leander, feeling a mix of emotions, nodded and opened the passenger door for Alex. Then he called the driver, and they left.
Alex carefully placed Katherine in the passenger seat and fastened her seatbelt. "Didn't you say you wanted to treat me? Where are we going?"
Katherine raised an eyebrow. "I sent you the address. Just go there!"
Alex closed her door and got in the driver's seat.
As the car started, someone suddenly got in the back seat.
Teresa crossed her arms, frowning. "Alex! It's not fair you made up with Katherine without telling me!"
Alex saw Teresa in the rearview mirror. "Do I need to tell you everything?"
Teresa laughed. "No, I was just worried you'd do something foolish without Katherine. If I'd known you two got back together, I'd have felt better sooner!"
Alex's face darkened. "Now that you know, if you have nothing else, get out and go home!"
Teresa had no intention of leaving. "I heard you're going to eat with Katherine. I'm hungry too, so take me along!"
Alex snapped, "If you're hungry, go home and eat. Get out!"
Teresa pouted and turned to Katherine. "Katherine! Alex doesn't want to take me. You will, right?"
Katherine sighed. She knew Teresa probably wanted to talk about Frank. Seeing Teresa's pleading face, she couldn't refuse. "Alright, come along."
Teresa beamed. "I knew you'd take me, Katherine!"
Alex's face darkened. "Weren't you only inviting me to dinner?"
Katherine shrugged. "It's just one more person, Alex. Don't be so stingy."
Teresa leaned forward. "Exactly! I'm your niece. How can you be so stingy with me?"
Alex glared at her. "If you're coming, sit properly!"
Teresa immediately sat back.
Alex hit the gas, and they sped off from the Melville Group Tower.
At Savor Haven, Katherine ordered a few signature dishes and handed the menu to Teresa.
Teresa, being outgoing, added a few more dishes and some drinks.
Katherine then handed the menu to Alex. "Anything else you want?"
Alex glanced at the menu but didn't take it. "Do I still need to order?"
Katherine forced a smile. "Alex, you're the main guest today. Of course, you need to order!"
"You still know I'm the main guest? I thought I was just the driver today!"
Alex pretended to be angry but finally took the menu and ordered some light dishes and soups.
The girls had ordered heavy, spicy dishes, and since Katherine was pregnant, she couldn't eat too much of that.
Despite being upset, Alex was still concerned about her health.
Why was he upset?
On the way, Katherine had been chatting and laughing with Teresa, leaving him out. At the restaurant, she walked in with Teresa, not looking back at him once. Now, she let Teresa order first and only thought of him last.
Katherine knew the light dishes were for her and noticed his displeasure. She smiled wryly, not expecting Alex to be jealous of his niece.
Ignoring Teresa, Katherine cupped his face and playfully squeezed it. "Alex, you're overthinking! How could you be a driver? Where would you find such a handsome driver?"
Alex's stern face softened into a smile. He gently patted her head. "You little rascal, who taught you to be so slick?"
Teresa, resting her chin in her hand, watched them enviously. Thinking of her single status, she sighed. "When will I find a sweet romance like that?"
