Chapter 61 You Got It Coming
Upon hearing Sherry's surprised voice, Joshua and Lillian both looked out the car window together...
Lillian rolled her eyes and said, "Joshua, look, that's really Katherine! Is the man next to her as her boyfriend? Katherine, a girl, how come she's still out with a man so late? Isn't that inappropriate?"
Joshua frowned unhappily, partly because his daughter Katherine coming out so late with a man alone didn't seem like a good girl and partly because Joshua saw Katherine and the man walk into the subway entrance together.
From their angle, they could only see the man's back or side, they couldn't see his face at all.
But they all had the same judgment about that man!
That was poor!
Sherry sighed pretentiously and said, "Dad, how come Katherine found a boyfriend who still needs to take the subway? She's getting dumber and dumber. The men my mom introduced to her before at least had houses and cars!"
Lillian, in collaboration with her daughter, sighed in grievance, "Forget it. Katherine's preference is the most important! I see that the young man is tall and strong. He should be quite handsome. I'm just afraid he's too poor. It wouldn't be good if he wanted to stay at our house as a son-in-law."
"No matter how handsome he is! I don't have spare money to support her boyfriend, and our Galatea family can't afford to lose that person either!" Joshua snorted in anger!
Today, Joshua had just signed a contract with a big company with Sherry, and Joshua was flattered by the manager and had a few shots. He felt very prestigious, but now Joshua saw Katherine's disappointing and embarrassing appearance, which made Joshua feel disappointed!
Sherry and Lillian exchanged a smile. They were complacent. In their minds, Katherine, that little wench, was only suitable for finding a poor guy who took the subway!
Inside the subway station.
Alexander stood behind Katherine when she was buying a ticket from the vending machine, looking down to see how she was operating it.
After Katherine bought her ticket, she turned around and walked away without even looking at him.
Alexander stood in front of the machine and frowned slightly after following the prompts a few times.
Although it was his first time in such a place, he was not clueless about how to operate the vending machine. The main issue was that he was unfamiliar with the route. He didn't know which line to buy.
Turning his head to look around, he saw that Katherine, that little girl, had disappeared without a trace. She had already slipped away somewhere.
The people queuing behind him were getting anxious, urging, "Hey! Have you bought the ticket yet? Can you buy it or not?"
Alexander turned around. His indifferent expression scared the aunt urging behind him. She didn't dare say a word, so she conscientiously went to queue up on the other side.
Not wanting to delay others, Alexander stepped aside, took out his phone, and called Leander, "Which line should I buy?"
Leander fell silent. He also didn't take the subway. He didn't know either! "Alexander, just wait a moment. I'll check right away!"
Alexander replied with a calm face, suppressing his impatience and annoyance, which he kept hidden.
At this moment, laughter came from behind.
He turned his head and looked over at the sound. Katherine was lazily leaning against a sturdy pillar, watching him with a smile, laughing as she said, "Alexander, is this your first time at the subway station?"
Alexander remained expressionless, neither confirming nor denying.
Katherine raised an eyebrow, grinning as she said, "Well... since you covered the tab for our classmates' get-together, I'll treat you to the subway ride! Let's go!"
With that, she tossed a subway card to Alexander. Alexander caught it and gave the card a quick glance, smiling. Wait, did Katherine just buy his ticket too? Was she teasing him on purpose?
Alexander wasn't upset, just amused. He smirked slightly and followed Katherine inside.
Shortly after, Leander called back, "Alexander, I found out what you should buy..."
"No need," Alexander cut him off before hanging up.
Leander was left on the other end of the line, clueless about what just happened.
As Katherine led Alexander towards the waiting area, she couldn't help but chuckle when she saw him end the call with Leander.
Alexander heard it and shot her a cold look, "What's so funny now?"
Katherine raised her eyebrows and smiled, "Hmm... I was thinking, if rich people like you go bankrupt, wouldn't you even have the basic ability to survive?"
Alexander furrowed his brows, "Are you making fun of me?"
Katherine didn't give him any face, nodded honestly, "Yes! You were standing stupidly in front of the ticket machine, not knowing what to do. I even took a picture of you. I'll show it to Sandra Melville when I get home!"
A vein popped on Alexander's forehead, "Katherine!"
Katherine took out her phone and pulled up the photo, holding it up and deliberately shaking it in front of him. "Alexander, look, you looked so funny just now! I didn't expect you to have a day like this, hahaha..."
At this moment, a teenager on a skateboard zoomed past...
"Watch out!"
Before Katherine could react, she was pulled by someone. She fell into a warm and strong embrace, avoiding being hit by the teenager.
The skateboarder swerved and glanced back, then quickly slipped away without stopping to ask...
Alexander, with a composed demeanor and handsome brows, looked down at the little girl who had just been cocky in his arms, teasingly lecturing, "Ms. Galatea, you're busy making fun of others. Didn't you even look where you were going?"
Katherine fell silent. Okay, she had been negligent!
Alexander added, "No playing with your phone while walking. Stay on the inside."
"Oh!" Katherine put away her phone and obediently walked inside, quite appreciative. "Alexander, thank you, but I won't delete the photo!"
Alexander snorted and glanced at her. He didn't really care about that photo. Alexander's face was cold, his eyes warm, and there was even a hint of a subtle smile at the corner of his mouth.
There were few people in the subway at night, and the seats were full.
Katherine and Alexander found a quiet spot to sit down. Perhaps because Alexander's appearance was too outstanding, and he was wearing a top-notch designer suit, his strong presence made it impossible for people to ignore him, and he became the center of attention in the carriage.
Women occasionally cast admiring glances at him. Even men couldn't help but look a few more times...
Alexander seemed oblivious to the attention of others, acting as if no one else was around.
After a few stops, there were few people left in the carriage.
With the spacious environment and the quiet atmosphere, it was inevitable that the two would feel awkward.
Katherine's phone ran out of battery, and she didn't have a prop to ease the awkwardness. She turned her head and found Alexander looking at her, wondering what he was thinking.
Katherine felt a bit awkward under Alexander's gaze...
"Alexander, let's discuss something!" Katherine tried to start a conversation.
Alexander raised his eyebrows slightly, "Go ahead."
