Chapter 577 You're Already Doing Great

When Katherine plopped back down on the couch, only Ambrosia was still hanging around.

She slid in next to Ambrosia and asked, "Hey, where's Frank?"

Ambrosia pointed out the living room window.

Katherine followed her finger and spotted Frank out on the lawn, playing with Charles and Teresa.

Katherine squinted a bit. "Since when did Frank start liking kids?"

Ambrosia adjusted her gold-rimmed glasses. "Katherine, do you really think he likes kids?"

Katherine looked confused. "What else could it be?"

As she spoke, she saw Frank reach out to brush a leaf off Teresa's head, all gentleman-like.

Teresa took a step back, thanked him, and then focused back on Charles, keeping her distance from Frank.

Katherine frowned. "Frank still hasn't given up on Teresa?"

Ambrosia, with a knowing look, said, "I guess he might never give up."

Katherine looked at Ambrosia. "What do you mean?"

Ambrosia said, "We've seen Frank grow up. He's always been a flirt, never serious about any girl. Because of that, no girl has ever taken him seriously either. Like attracts like, and he hasn't met a genuinely pure-hearted girl in years! But Ms. Harris is both innocent and honest. She used to bring him lunch every day, treating him with respect like a gentleman. He's never been seriously pursued before, so he fell for Ms. Harris! If you hadn't told him to stay away from her, I bet he would've seriously dated her."

"Seriously?" Katherine's eyes showed a hint of complexity. "Does he really want to marry Teresa?"

Ambrosia replied without hesitation, "Of course not, you know he's against marriage."

"Then it's pointless. Even if he takes it seriously, it's just a game!" Katherine now had a rather pessimistic view on relationships. "Teresa was hurt by a guy she almost married. She dates someone she wants to marry and can't afford to be hurt again. That's why I won't let Frank date her."

Ambrosia nodded thoughtfully. "A relationship without a future can be deeply damaging to a woman, affecting her mindset for a lifetime."

No matter how strong a woman was, she couldn't avoid being defeated by love.

Out in the Melville Manor's yard, Frank was playing games with Charles. At first, Charles was a bit scared, but he gradually relaxed and started laughing gleefully.

Seeing Frank, who was gently making a child happy under the sunlight, Teresa found the scene beautiful. "Mr. Perez, I didn't expect you to like kids so much!"

Frank said, "You think I like kids?"

Teresa nodded. "If you didn't like kids, how could you have the patience to make Charles happy like this?"

Frank said, "I saw you were tired holding Charles, so I came over to help."

Teresa was stunned, thinking, 'Frank said he came to help because I looked tired. I can't overthink it, Frank is just being friendly, nothing more!'

Teresa said, "Thanks! But I still think you like kids, Mr. Perez. If you didn't, you'd find it annoying! My ex-boyfriend hated kids and was always a jerk to any kid who came near him."

Hearing her mention her ex, Frank squinted a bit. "And you still with him?"

Teresa sighed. "He was good to me! He was so good at sweet-talking that I thought once we had our own kids, he'd be different! Later, I realized even his kindness was an act, just to use me and my connection with the Melville family."

As she spoke, Teresa's face showed a look of sorrow.

Frank took Charles's hand and poked her face, snapping her out of it. She felt a bit embarrassed.

Frank said softly, "Alright, don't dwell on the past, especially don't blame yourself. You're great; it was all your ex-boyfriend's fault!"

Teresa was stunned, thinking, 'Is Mr. Perez comforting me? I'm great, but Frank doesn't like me either! This kind of comfort only makes me more self-doubting.'

At that moment, Teresa's phone rang with a cheerful tune.

She took out her phone to answer, "Hello, Anthony? What's up?"

Anthony's voice was gentle yet slightly nervous. "Teresa, are you done with Mr. Perez and Ms. Hawthorne? It's lunchtime. Do you want me to order takeout for you? Skipping meals can cause you to have low blood sugar."

Teresa felt a bit embarrassed by Anthony's excessive concern. "No need! I'm at my uncle's house now, and I'll have lunch soon!"

Anthony asked in confusion, "Your uncle's house? Teresa, are you saying Mr. Perez and Ms. Hawthorne are at your uncle's house too?"

Teresa knew she shouldn't reveal the whereabouts of Frank and Ambrosia, so she said, "No, I came to my uncle's house after finishing things with Mr. Perez and Ms. Hawthorne."

Teresa didn't say much because she didn't want Anthony to know Alex's identity. She thought, 'No one at the company knows I am the niece of the Melville Group's president. Knowing too many people will be troublesome. It was the same at the Melville Group before. Everyone knew my identity and would come to me to pry into Alex's private life, which is very annoying!'

Anthony, being considerate, didn't ask further and instead nervously and shyly asked, "Do you have time tonight? There's a new movie out. Would you like to see it with me after work?"

"A new movie? I didn't know that!" Teresa asked.

"I'll send you the movie poster, and you'll see. If you're interested, we can watch it together tonight?"

"Okay, send it to me!" After hanging up, Teresa immediately received a movie poster from Anthony.

There were no specific characters on the black poster, only a blood-red word [Curse].

"Horror movie!" Frank's voice suddenly sounded very close to her.

Teresa snapped back to reality and looked up to see Frank leaning over to look at her phone.

She felt a bit embarrassed and instinctively put her phone away, complaining, "Mr. Perez, it's not cool to peek at someone else's phone!"
