Chapter 372 Virgin
When Fiona was being sarcastic, Katherine was already on the living room sofa, ignoring her and ordering takeout.
Seeing her words weren't affecting Katherine, Fiona got even more frustrated. She raised her voice, "Taking forever to order takeout. Some people probably can't even afford more than a $20 or $30 meal!"
Scarlett wanted to laugh but pretended to advise, "Fiona, don't say that. We should respect other people's lifestyles."
Fiona rolled her eyes and sneered, "I'm just telling the truth! She's a country bumpkin, not from our world! Even if she seduces Alex now, their values are different, and it won't last! She has no self-awareness, insisting on staying in our house!"
Ignoring Fiona, Katherine placed her order and paid. Meanwhile, Alex got a notification about the charge.
Last night, in a moment of passion, Alex had given her all his passwords and several bank cards to show his commitment.
Though Katherine wasn't short on money, it felt nice to spend her boyfriend's money occasionally!
Fiona kept saying nasty things, but Katherine acted like she didn't hear a thing. She lounged on the sofa, turned on the TV, and waitied for her takeout, completely unfazed by Fiona's barbs.
Suddenly, Scarlett handed her a glass of milk.
Katherine raised an eyebrow and saw it was Scarlett.
Scarlett smiled gently, "Katherine, your takeout might take a while. Have some milk so you don't get too hungry!"
Katherine noticed a lipstick mark on the rim, indicating Scarlett had drunk from it.
Offering someone milk she had already drunk, Scarlett was really something!
Katherine wasn't upset. She gently pushed the glass away and smiled, "Thanks, but I'm not that hungry yet. You can keep the milk."
Scarlett sat beside her with a disappointed look, "Why won't you drink it, Katherine? Is it because I drank from it? I thought you wouldn't mind, considering you even took over a man I used."
Katherine raised an eyebrow, "A man you used?"
Scarlett smiled brightly, "Yes, Alex. The man I used for years, and you didn't mind taking him. So why mind the milk?"
Katherine furrowed her brows, "He touched you?"
Scarlett nodded, "Of course. Did you think Alex was a virgin before you? How could a guy like him, with so many women around, remain celibate until almost thirty?"
Katherine stared at Scarlett for a long moment, making Scarlett think she believed and was angry.
Suddenly, Katherine burst out laughing, "You lied about having a child with Alex, and now you're lying about him sleeping with you? Do you think I'll believe you?"
Scarlett's face stiffened, then she forced a twisted smile. "Even if it wasn't with me, do you think a guy like Alex, full of energy, has only been with you?"
Katherine smiled. "I've checked. He's only been with me."
Scarlett frowned. "You checked? How? I know women can be checked, but how do you check a man? Katherine, stop fooling yourself!"
Katherine chuckled. "How I checked is private. But I'm sure my man is clean and was a virgin!"
Katherine's confidence and sweetness made Scarlett's face darken. She gripped the milk glass tighter, wishing she could crush it and tear Katherine apart!
Scarlett remembered pretending to be drunk and standing naked in front of Alex, but he hadn't even glanced at her. He had coldly said, "Put your clothes on!" and left her alone.
She knew Alex had self-control and strict principles. But why did he lose control with Katherine?
Suddenly, a call came in from an unknown number. Katherine thought it was the takeout and answered, "Hello?"
There was silence on the other end.
Katherine frowned. "Hello, who is this? Can you hear me?"
"...I can hear you."
It was a man's voice, cold and low, with a hint of awkwardness.
Katherine immediately recognized it as Bernard's voice. She was surprised he would call her personally.
Looking at Scarlett, who was glaring at her, Katherine wondered if Bernard was calling because of his sister.
Katherine narrowed her eyes. "Yes, what do you need?"
Bernard said, "Do you have time to meet today? I have something to tell you in person."
"Not convenient."
Katherine refused without thinking. She wanted to stay away from the siblings. They always caused trouble and wasted her time.
"Wait, don't hang up!"
Bernard guessed she was about to hang up and quickly stopped her.
Katherine's finger paused over the hang-up button. "If you have something to say, just say it over the phone."
Bernard sighed. "I've felt very sorry for misunderstanding you recently. Katherine, can we meet in person? I have something important to tell you, and it won't take much of your time."
As Bernard invited her, Scarlett sat beside her, glaring.
Katherine thought for a moment. "Fine, then come to the Melville family to find me."
Bernard hesitated. "It's not convenient for me to go to the Melville family. Can you come out?"
"Then forget it!"
This time, Katherine hung up directly.
In the morning, Billy had called, saying Bernard wanted to meet her. Now Bernard called personally to invite her out. Something was off!
When something unusual happened, there was always a reason!
