Chapter 758 For Now, This Will Have to Do

Seeing Bernard's silence, Trevor squinted his eyes, seemingly understanding something, "If Katherine and I weren't married, why would I have stolen her child back then?"

Bernard snapped out of it, glaring at him angrily, "I'd like to know why you, you bastard, stole a child back then!"

Trevor looked at the agitated Bernard and calmly said, "Sir, may I know your name?"

Bernard coldly replied, "Bernard Mitchell."

Trevor asked again, "What's your relationship with Katherine?"

Bernard said, "She's my sister."

Trevor nodded, "Got it. Your anger towards me is because you think I wronged your sister."

Bernard said, "It's not just that I think you wronged her! The harm you caused goes far beyond that!"

Trevor calmly pondered and said, "Since I don't remember anything, I can't give you any explanation for your questions."

Usually gentle, Bernard couldn't help but grit his teeth, "So you mean I should just let you go and let you and Sophia live happily with the child you took from my sister?"

Trevor said, "That's not what I mean. In fact, I don't trust Sophia. If I believed everything she told me, I wouldn't have arranged to meet you here while she was out."

Bernard paused, scrutinizing him with a skeptical look, "You don't trust Sophia, so why don't you leave her and find out the truth yourself?"

Trevor glanced self-deprecatingly at his almost useless legs, "Do you think I can leave her in this condition? Mr. Mitchell, since you know Sophia, you must also know what her family is like in Markovia. I'm an amnesiac cripple; I can't run, and I can't find anyone to help me because I don't remember anyone I used to know."

Bernard looked at him sitting in the wheelchair, noting how he lacked the spirited demeanor of the former Alex, with a sickly pallor on his face. It was impossible to escape Sophia's control in Markovia.

Bernard said, "I can take you back to your original home. Will you come with me?"

He thought Trevor would nod, as it was a rare chance to gain freedom.

Unexpectedly, Trevor shook his head, "For someone with amnesia like me, what you and Sophia say are just one-sided stories. It's hard for me to fully trust either side."

Bernard sneered, "So, you still want to stay with Sophia!"

Trevor's eyes held deep contemplation, "Because your sister do have a son who looks exactly like mine, your words seem more credible. I won't rashly go back with you, but I don't plan to stay with Sophia either. If I leave with you now, Sophia won't let it go, and innocent people might get caught in the crossfire. She plans to take me and Julian to a private island she bought to live in seclusion after handling her father's assets. Before that, I hope you can help me with something."

Bernard squinted his eyes warily, "What do you want me to help with?"

Trevor said, "I need you to introduce me to a professional rehabilitation doctor. I need someone to guide me on how to train my legs correctly so I can stand again. Over the years, I suspect Sophia has been controlling my body with drugs and misleading me with the wrong rehabilitation methods through the doctors she found. Even though I later avoided her and spat out the drugs, there was no improvement. As for the emotional entanglement between your sister and me, I'll discuss it with you and your sister once I can stand again."

Hearing his reasonable request, Bernard nodded, "Finding a professional doctor is not difficult for me, but will Sophia agree to you receiving guidance from a doctor I introduce?"

Trevor said, "I only need online guidance. Sophia won't let me contact outsiders offline. This is my email. Find a hacker to send the doctor's contact information to me. My phone and other contacts are monitored by Sophia, so I can't contact anyone freely."

Bernard suddenly started to believe that Alex had indeed been controlled by Sophia all these years and had a hard time.

He nodded, "Okay."

Trevor continued, "Also, Mr. Mitchell, you should have the power to delay Sophia's handling of her father's assets, right? If possible, please try to drag it out as long as possible."

Bernard squinted his eyes and thought for a moment, "Alright, I'll have someone look into her progress and try to delay it."

Trevor nodded earnestly, "Thank you!"

By now, time was almost up. If Sophia returned early, it wouldn't be good!

Even though Bernard had prepared many questions to ask this bastard, seeing him now, clearly not remembering anything, made it pointless to ask.

So he got up, ready to leave and investigate Sophia's progress, and find a reliable doctor for this bastard.

Just as Bernard was about to take a step, he heard a voice from behind.

"Uncle Bernard!"

He stopped abruptly, looking back in disbelief, seeing a child who looked exactly like George, thinking it was the one Alex had stolen years ago.

But then he remembered the familiar voice just now, so he asked, "Are you George?"

George ran over and hugged Bernard's leg, "Yes, I am!"

Bernard was a bit confused, "How did you end up here?"

George blinked his big eyes guiltily, "Well, that day, Mommy and Aunt Fiona took us on a picnic, and something happened. Mommy picked up the wrong kid and left me behind! Then this handsome guy took me as his son and brought me back!"

Hearing George's explanation, Bernard suddenly understood and looked at Trevor, "So the one staying with Katherine is the child you stole back then?"

Trevor said, "Whether I stole him or not, I can't remember, so I can't admit it. But I can be sure that the one with Katherine is my son Julian.

Bernard felt a headache coming on, "Then..."

Trevor said, "For now, we can only leave it as it is and wait for a suitable opportunity to switch them back. If you take this child back now, Sophia will notice something is wrong."
