Chapter 909 You Won't See Him
Back then, in a moment of desperation, Claire found him and begged him to take care of her child, promising to return for her daughter in three months.
Because it was his crush asking for help, he couldn't bear to refuse and agreed.
However, three months later, Claire did not come back as promised to take her daughter. The household was in turmoil because of Katherine's presence, so under Lillian's instigation, he sent the child to the countryside.
Who would have thought that just a week after sending Katherine away, Claire would show up, demanding her daughter!
Facing the object of his affection, Joshua was too ashamed to admit that he had sent her daughter to the countryside, fearing it would damage his image in Claire's eyes. So, to save face, he lied that her daughter had contracted a strange illness and died.
Claire was heartbroken and asked for her daughter's urn before leaving.
That urn actually contained the ashes of a pet dog that his daughter had once kept.
Years had passed, and Joshua never expected that Claire would discover the truth and come back to hold him accountable.
Seeing Joshua remain silent, Claire grew even more resentful. "Say something! Why, why did you separate us like this?"
Joshua couldn't come up with a reasonable explanation and fell to his knees by Claire's hospital bed. "I'm sorry, Claire, I'm sorry. It's all my fault. I apologize, but please, since I didn't actually cause your daughter's death, spare me! Don't let those men outside make things difficult for me, okay?"
Claire looked at him begging for mercy, feeling nothing but disgust and having nothing more to say.
She must have been out of her mind to trust Katherine with him back then.
Claire was well-mannered and couldn't say anything harsh, but Linda, being straightforward, stepped forward with her hands on her hips and started scolding Joshua.
"How dare you say you didn't cause Katherine's death? We've investigated; you never took care of Katherine. All these years, Katherine survived on her own resilience, strong spirit, and a bit of luck! She was fortunate to meet a kind person who kept her from starving! What right do you have to say you took care of her? Shameless!"
Joshua didn't get angry even after being scolded by a child, because he had already learned from those outside that the girl and the woman sitting by Claire's bed were not people he could afford to offend.
So he sensibly listened and kept kneeling and begging for mercy.
"Yes! I wronged Katherine. It's all my fault. I know I was wrong. Please, let me go. Or call Katherine over, and I'll apologize to her in person! Katherine is the most understanding; she will surely forgive me."
"How can someone as cowardly as you exist? Compared to you, my dad, clueless as he may be, is still a brave man. Get lost, don't be an eyesore in front of my teacher. Seeing you makes us sick!"
Joshua quickly got up. "Okay! I'll leave right now."
Saying this, he hurriedly walked towards the door.
Claire was a good-tempered person, but thinking about the grievances Katherine had suffered over the years, even her good temper was gone!
Taking a deep breath, she said, "Linda! Please!"
Linda was quick-witted and understood without Claire needing to say more. "Ms. Ayers, don't worry, I'll get justice for Katherine!"
After saying this, she quickly followed Joshua out.
Joshua thought he was safe once he ran out of the hospital room, but he was stopped by the men in black guarding the door!
Without instructions from Linda or Nora, they couldn't let this man leave!
Linda came out and said, "Teach Mr. Galatea a lesson he'll never forget, the kind that will haunt him in his nightmares!"
The leader of the men in black nodded. "Ms. Coleman, we understand!"
After responding, the leader forcefully dragged Joshua out to deal with him outside the hospital.
Linda watched Brent's men take Joshua away, feeling assured. Brent's men never showed mercy!
She turned her gaze back and was about to return to the hospital room when she noticed a strange look directed at her.
She looked up and saw a beautiful woman with gold-rimmed glasses, whom she seemed to have seen in the hallway earlier.
But why was this woman staring at her like that, standing at Claire's hospital room door without leaving? It was very suspicious!
Linda frowned and took a couple of steps forward, asking, "Who are you? Why are you staring at our hospital room?"
Ambrosia squinted her eyes and looked down at her. "Nothing, just passing by."
After saying this, she turned and walked towards the elevator with steady steps.
What a strange woman!
Linda wanted to follow her, but Brent's men guarding the door wouldn't let her run around and stopped her.
Helpless, she returned to the hospital room and complained, "So strange! I just saw a woman staring at our hospital room for a long time. When I asked her what she was doing, she just left without saying anything!"
Hearing this, Claire reacted, "What kind of woman?"
Linda described, "A beautiful woman with gold-rimmed glasses, very elegant!"
Claire recalled and her pupils shrank. Nora seemed to have thought of something too and looked up at her friend.
Wasn't that the woman who was just with Edwin?
That girl was indeed striking, leaving a deep impression with just one glance.
Had the Mitchell family found them? So quickly?
Claire panicked and couldn't sit still. "Nora, he's found me. We can't wait any longer! Quick, help me get discharged."
After several emotional ups and downs, the already weak Claire felt even more drained and dizzy.
Nora had been considering whether to help Claire get discharged, but seeing her weak state, she thought her health was more important.
So she advised, "Claire, calm down. It might not be the Mitchell family who found us! Maybe that woman was just passing by?"
Claire weakly said, "It must be, Nora, take me away... quickly... I don't want to see him... I can't..."
Nora gently patted Claire's shoulder. "Alright, alright! You won't see him! I promise you won't have to see him."
