Chapter 1046 Ask Him to Her Van
"The head of the finance department has given their assessment of the cooperation with Valoria. The detailed analysis is in the document to your left."
"OK, you guys take a break first, I'll go through this document."
Bernard nodded to them, and only then did the people below relax.
"Our president is great in every way, except he's too much of a workaholic."
"Yeah, no one is made of iron. Otherwise, how could he have lost focus from exhaustion? It's really rare for him to lose focus."
When Bernard first took over the company, he pulled three all-nighters in a row and was still the most alert one at the meeting the next day. The old employees were all thoroughly convinced.
"Time waits for no one..."
Even their young president couldn't handle it anymore, let alone them.
After the meeting ended, Bernard breathed a sigh of relief. Throughout the meeting, he found it unprecedentedly difficult to concentrate.
He kept feeling that the notification sound of his phone would ring any second.
But even after the meeting ended, his phone remained completely silent.
"Billy, what's the schedule next?"
"There's a meeting at 1:20 PM, and you need to make an appearance at a birthday party at 2:40 PM. That's all for the rest of the day."
After a brief thought, Bernard squinted his eyes and said, "Push the meeting back by half an hour. I have something to do now and will be back before 2 PM."
Billy was stunned at first, then quickly responded, "Yes."
Bernard extended two fingers of his right hand, and Billy promptly handed him his car keys.
The man walked hurriedly, as if eager to meet someone, even leaving his coat unbuttoned.
"How strange! This is really unusual," Billy murmured, watching Bernard's retreating figure.
Christina only scrolled through her phone for a while before continuing to read her script. The script that had been tampered with by someone had been replaced.
Curtis's face looked very bad when he saw that script.
"No wonder Griffin appeared in our crew so quickly; someone must have deliberately called him over."
He looked up at the innocent Christina, who still didn't know what kind of trap she had narrowly avoided.
His crew didn't tolerate any underhanded tricks, but now some people had even reached out to him.
"From now on, the female lead's script will be kept in rotation. If there's a problem, the person responsible will be held accountable."
This would also directly eliminate any tampering.
Christina vaguely sensed what had happened. If she hadn't memorized the lines, she would have made a fool of herself in front of everyone.
And what Griffin would have captured wouldn't be the praise she was receiving now.
One could imagine the online ridicule she and the movie would face.
She continued to scrutinize the latest script, squatting on the ground in a very unceremonious manner.
"Aren't there chairs? Why not sit?"
Bernard walked in and saw Christina squatting on the ground, looking pitiful.
Christina looked up, following his long legs, and met Bernard's condescending gaze. Why was he here at this time?
"I like squatting."
Oh, she had forgotten that this man was here to deliver food to Virginia.
That had nothing to do with her!
Seeing Christina's indifferent attitude, Bernard frowned. He had come specifically to see her, yet she was still so aloof?
"What is this? You're the female lead of a movie, squatting here so ungracefully. Don't you find it unsightly?"
Christina was baffled. "Before you came, no one thought it was ungraceful. Aren't you here to see someone? Go ahead!"
This woman knew he was here to see her, yet she was still so indifferent. Did she really think she was a big shot?
Bernard's lips curled into a mocking smile. "Ms. Russell, do you think you're famous just because you had a moment of popularity? You still have a long way to go."
His dismissive tone made Christina very uncomfortable.
It was as if all her previous efforts were in vain.
Christina wanted to curse him out, but considering their contractual relationship, she swallowed her words.
Once she earned enough money to pay off her debt to him, they would have nothing to do with each other!
"None of your business." After saying that, Christina turned and left without hesitation.
Bernard was left standing there, his expression as grim as a stormy sky.
"Go, tell Bernard to come see me. Tell him I have something important to discuss!"
Virginia had known since Bernard entered the film city. Seeing him argue with Christina made her even happier.
She didn't have time to scold her assistant; she needed her to run errands.
"Hurry, Bernard will be back at the company soon!"
Virginia sat in her RV, carefully touching up her makeup in the mirror, smiling seductively.
"I always said there would be no result between them because Bernard ultimately belongs to me. Christina, so what if you win over the audience? I will firmly hold this man's heart!"
Bernard looked indifferently at Virginia's assistant, "Can't she come over to talk? Why does she have to be in her RV?"
The assistant was trembling, not daring to look up at Bernard.
His height of nearly six feet three inches brought immense pressure.
Coupled with the long-standing authority of his family background, it was not something an ordinary person could bear.
"Mr. Mitchell, I-I don't know what Virginia wants to discuss with you. I'm just a messenger..."
He was trembling just to deliver a message, indicating how much he had suffered under Virginia.
Bernard didn't want to make things difficult for these lower-level employees. Even though his expression was stormy, he eventually walked over.
After discussing the plot with Curtis, Christina saw Bernard stepping into Virginia's RV.
She quickly lowered her head, biting her lip in frustration.
Even though she had a glimmer of hope when Virginia answered Bernard's call, thinking it might all be a facade, seeing it happen in front of her made her realize she wasn't as magnanimous as she thought.
She admitted she cared, but she didn't even have the right to care.
Curtis and the producer exchanged glances. Given the situation, how could they not understand?
