Chapter 391 He Doesn't Like Soda

Bernard was deep in thought, staring at the photo.

"Jonathan, were you just taking pictures?" Scarlett's soft, curious voice came from behind Jonathan.

Jonathan, sitting on a single sofa and looking at his photos, turned and smiled. "Oh, hey Scarlett! Yeah, we were just taking pictures. Want to join us for a group photo?"

Scarlett shook her head. "Nah, I didn't put on any makeup today. I'll look awful in photos."

Jonathan, ever the gentleman, replied, "Nonsense, Scarlett. You look great without makeup."

Teresa rolled her eyes and muttered, "She says she's not wearing makeup? That 'no-makeup' look is perfect—who is she kidding?"

Katherine sipped her juice, unfazed. She was used to Scarlett's act.

Scarlett heard Teresa and glanced at Katherine and Teresa, then noticed Bernard sitting there.

"Bernard, you're here too?" she asked.

Seeing Scarlett, who should've been home, Bernard's expression turned serious. "When did you get here?"

Scarlett walked over and snuggled into Bernard's arms. "Bernard, Charles has been fussing all day, wanting to see Alex. I called Alex, and he said he was at Moonlight Manor, so I brought Charles over."

Bernard didn't hug her back as usual. Instead, he frowned. "You brought Charles too?"

Scarlett, a bit intimidated, explained, "Charles really wanted to see Alex. I had no choice."

"Charles was badly injured yesterday, and it's late. Why did you bring him here?"

"Bernard, he wouldn't listen no matter how I tried to comfort him."

Bernard now understood why Katherine was alone while Alex was upstairs. It was all because of Scarlett!

He rubbed his temples in frustration. "Where's Alex?"

Scarlett replied, "Alex is still upstairs with Charles. I came down to get him a drink."

She picked up an unopened soda from the table. "Bernard, I'll go bring Alex his drink."

As she headed upstairs, she said, "Katherine, I'm going up. You all chat and make yourselves at home!"

Her words were polite, but her attitude as the hostess was clear.

Katherine smiled but didn't respond before Teresa rolled her eyes and said sarcastically, "Don't worry. We won't be shy!

Moonlight Manor may be your family's, but today, we're the hosts, renting your place!

To your family, we're customers, and the customer is king! As the big shots here, why should we be shy?"

Scarlett's face soured, and her usual smile faltered. "…Right, I was just overthinking."

Since Teresa was Alex's only niece and highly valued by him, Scarlett didn't want to argue, so she kept quiet and turned to leave.

"Wait," Katherine called out.

Scarlett stopped. "Katherine, did you call me?"

Katherine raised an eyebrow. "If he's thirsty, bring him water. Soda doesn't quench thirst, and he doesn't like it."

Scarlett's eyes flashed with hidden resentment. "Really? But Alex told me he wanted soda! Katherine, it seems you don't know Alex very well!"

Katherine smirked and took a sip of her juice. "Alright, do as you please."

No matter how Scarlett tried to provoke Katherine, she always remained indifferent, which was very frustrating for Scarlett.

Scarlett snorted quietly and went upstairs with the soda.

Watching his troublesome sister leave, Bernard glanced at Katherine with concern, then got up to follow Scarlett upstairs.

With Bernard's seat now empty, Jonathan immediately sat next to Katherine.

He picked up a peeled orange segment from the table and smiled as he handed it to her. "Katherine, have some orange to cheer you up!"

Katherine glanced at him disdainfully. "Jonathan, don't you know? Oranges are sour, and eating them when you're in a bad mood only makes it worse."

"Really?" Jonathan's smile deepened. "Then have some water. Water always helps to calm down, right?"

Katherine curled her lips. "Thanks for your concern. I'm not angry and don't need to calm down. But you should drink more water to wash away your naughty thoughts!"

Jonathan shrugged, popped the orange segment into his mouth, and kept his flirtatious gaze fixed on her, his eyes full of affection.

Katherine was annoyed by Jonathan's stare. She glanced at him and met his suggestive eyes. It was the first time she had seen someone eat an orange so seductively!

He was something else!

Meanwhile, Scarlett returned to the room with the soda. "Alex, are you thirsty? Have some soda!"

Alex was sitting on a chair by the bed, looking at Charles, who was still semi-conscious with a low fever. Hearing this, he glanced at the soda Scarlett handed over and said coldly, "No, I don't drink soda. You have it."

Scarlett's hand holding the soda froze. Remembering Katherine's earlier advice downstairs, she felt a twinge of displeasure.

Since Alex refused, she had no choice but to set the soda aside.

"Alex, with you by Charles's side, he's much calmer," Scarlett said gently, looking at Charles lying quietly on the bed.

Alex asked her, "Did you give him medicine before you came? Why hasn't his fever gone down?"

Scarlett nodded. "He took the fever medicine. The doctor said Charles is worried about something that's causing his fever. I guess he really wanted to see you, so he got anxious and feverish."

A one-year-old child worried about something? Alex frowned and didn't say anything, checking his watch.

It was getting late, and Katherine was probably tired.

"Alex, go downstairs and keep Katherine company. I'll stay here with Scarlett to look after Charles," Bernard said softly as he walked in.
