Chapter 678 Sophia Reveals Her True Form
Katherine dozed off in Alex's arms as he carried her to the car. She was so wiped out, she didn't even get to ask him what was happening.
Police Station.
Alex stood outside the interrogation room, waiting for the cops to sort things out.
Just then, the Melville family showed up at the station after hearing the news.
Fiona spotted Alex right away and ran over, throwing herself into his arms, tears streaming down her face. "Alex, you're okay! We thought you were..."
Alex gently patted her head. "Hey, it's alright. I'm here."
Fiona looked up at him, her face full of worry. "Alex, what happened? The police said you were blown up. We were scared to death."
Alex just shook his head, knowing it was too much to explain right now.
"Alex, you little brat. Why didn't you call us to let us know you were okay?" Sandra, leaning on the family's maid, walked over and scolded him with tears in her eyes..
"You rascal, you even kept it from me." Jackie, in a wheelchair, was pushed over by a servant. He tried to sound stern, but his eyes were red too.
Alex gently pushed Fiona aside and walked up to them, bowing deeply. "Grandparents, I'm sorry for making you worry."
Sandra grabbed his arm, feeling the warmth of his body, and finally relaxed. "Alright, as long as you're okay. Don't scare us like that again. We're too old for this."
Jackie still tried to sound tough. "If this happens again, I'll really consider you gone and won't care anymore."
Sandra shot him a look. "You were crying your eyes out at home."
Jackie frowned. "Who was crying?"
Sandra glared at him. "You."
Alex felt a wave of relief and turned to Fiona. "Help Grandparents sit over there and wait for a bit. I have some things to handle."
Fiona nodded quickly and led the grandparents to the waiting area in the lobby.
As Alex started down the hallway, a woman suddenly ran up and hugged him from behind. "Alex, thank goodness you're okay. I'm so relieved."
Sophia had rushed to the station as soon as she heard.
Alex's face turned cold as he pried her hands off him. "Thanks for your concern, but I'm fine."
Sophia didn't try to hold on again. She moved in front of him, looking him over from head to toe. Once she saw he wasn't hurt, she let out a sigh of relief. "Alex, they all said you were blown up, but I didn't believe it. I knew you wouldn't die that easily. It's so good to see you alive."
Alex replied indifferently, "Sorry to make you worry."
Sophia's face fell a bit. "Alex, Katherine, she..."
Alex said, "What do you want to say about her?"
"Alex, Katherine seems to be missing," Fiona said, suddenly realizing Katherine wasn't around after hearing Sophia mention her. She quickly came back to Alex.
Sophia put on a worried face. "Alex, Katherine's pregnant. Who knows where she might have gone? What if something happens to her?"
"Katherine's voice cut through the tension. "Sophia, you seem to really hope something happens to me?"
Both Sophia and Fiona turned towards the interrogation room door, startled. Katherine walked out, looking steady.
Seeing her, Alex immediately stepped forward and reached out to support her.
Fiona's face lit up. "Katherine!"
Sophia looked shocked, her expression turning awkward. "Katherine? So you came back too. That's great."
Katherine didn't push Alex away. She placed her hand on his forearm and looked straight at Sophia. "Do you really think so?"
Sophia nodded quickly. "Yes, now that both you and Alex are alright, we can all chill out."
Katherine sneered. "Why do I feel like you're not very happy? Your plan to lead me to the explosion site and have those thugs kidnap me failed, didn't it?"
"What?" Fiona frowned and looked at Sophia. "So it was you who led Katherine to the explosion site? When I called you, you pretended not to know where she went?"
Sophia's usually cheerful face turned stiff and unnatural. "Fiona, I really didn't know. I don't know why Katherine is saying this. I hadn't even seen her before this." She then glared at Katherine with some resentment. "Katherine, I'm really glad you came back safely. How can you use this opportunity to frame me? When did I take you to the explosion site? I didn't even dare to go there."
Katherine wasn't surprised by Sophia's lie and sneered. "Do you think I have any reason to frame you?"
Sophia frowned, her eyes showing a hint of grievance. "Katherine, I know you've always disliked me because of my marriage with Alex. But I've explained to you that Alex and I got married just to help each other as friends, nothing more. You misunderstood us. But you can't frame me out of jealousy for my marriage registration with Alex."
Katherine found it extremely amusing. "Sophia, let me ask you, were you the one who printed those flyers and had someone throw them into the Mitchell mansion yard, deliberately letting me see the news of Alex's death to shock me? And were you the one who spread the rumor that the Melville family had made a will overnight to pass all the Melville Group's assets to my unborn child, deliberately making me a new target for those thugs? You helped me escape from the hospital and led me to the explosion site, calculating that I would be kidnapped by those thugs. You intended to use them to get rid of the child in my belly and eliminate future troubles. You thought I couldn't escape unscathed, so now seeing me and my baby both safe, you're very unwilling, aren't you?"
