Chapter 825 Don't Be Fooled
Linda was escorted back to their table by the waiter.
"Hello, your little girl couldn't find you and went upstairs! Luckily, she didn't leave the restaurant. It's very dangerous with all the traffic outside."
Nora was initially surprised to see Linda being led back by the waiter, then she felt a bit helpless and smiled apologetically at the waiter, "Thank you! Sorry for the trouble!"
The waiter bowed politely, "You're welcome, it's our duty."
After saying that, the waiter left, not wanting to disturb the customers any further.
Once the waiter left, Nora pulled Linda close to scold her, "Linda, what's wrong with you? Why did you go upstairs instead of eating properly?"
Linda pouted, "I was curious and wanted to check it out."
George, sitting next to Trevor, glanced nervously at Linda, afraid she might give him away.
Nora was a bit displeased, "Why are you curious about everything? You went upstairs without telling us. What if you encountered a bad person?"
Linda pouted, "Mom! I'm a big girl now. I can tell the difference between good and bad people! Besides, it's not that easy to run into bad people!"
Nora frowned, "Why are you becoming more disobedient?"
Brent put down his fork and joined in to lecture Linda, "Linda, your mom is right! Don't you know that bad people specifically target girls your age because you're the most innocent and easiest to deceive?"
Linda rolled her eyes at Brent, "I'm not stupid. I won't be easily deceived! Anyway, I didn't meet any bad people today. I met a really good person!"
A really good person?
Linda's mention of a really good person made Brent and Nora wary.
Usually, bad people with ulterior motives would first pretend to be good in front of children to lower their guard. Linda might have really encountered a bad person just now!
Brent and Nora asked in unison, "Who?"
Sophia, who didn't care about Linda's business, seized the opportunity to make a sarcastic comment, "Linda, were you tricked? You were only upstairs for a few minutes and already calling someone a really good person! Did they give you a few pieces of candy to win you over?"
Linda glared angrily at Sophia, "You're the one who would be tricked by a few pieces of candy! I'm not a three-year-old, and I don't even like candy!"
Sophia smiled slyly, "Really? Then tell us, what kind of person could make you label them as a really good person in just a few minutes?"
Linda replied, "Of course, it didn't take just a few minutes for me to think she's a good person! I've known her for a long time and I'm absolutely sure she's a really good person!"
Nora anxiously pulled Linda over and asked, "Linda, quickly tell us, who is this person you think is so good?"
Linda shifted her disdainful gaze from Sophia to her mother and explained, "Mom, do you remember a few years ago when you and Dad had a fight and took me away, and you had a car accident? And there was a lady who donated blood to save you? I just saw her upstairs! Isn't she a really good person?"
Nora was stunned and then shocked, "What? You really saw that kind lady? It's been years, are you sure it's her?"
Linda nodded firmly, "I'm very sure! And I've already talked to her. She also remembered that incident!"
Nora was overjoyed and excitedly turned to Brent, "Cole, the savior you've been looking for all these years, we actually met her here today! It must be fate!"
Brent nodded to Nora, "Of course, it's fate. I must thank that lady properly today!"
Sophia was a bit unhappy and secretly sneered, then pretended to be worried and poured cold water on the situation, "Don't you think it's a bit too coincidental? After searching for years without finding her, she suddenly appears in front of us! Linda was only a few years old back then. How could she recognize the savior after all these years? She must have mistaken her!"
Linda was annoyed with Sophia, "Are you doubting my memory? Even if you doubt my memory, didn't you hear me say that the kind person also remembered the incident? There's no mistake!"
Sophia shook her head in disagreement, "Anyone would want to claim the title of a savior. Linda, I bet you went up and called that kind person a savior and described the incident. Naturally, she would agree and take the credit! Whether she's really the savior needs to be confirmed!"
Linda glared at Sophia disdainfully, "You think that way because you're that kind of person! The savior is really simple. I just said I wanted Mom and Dad to thank her personally, and she didn't want to come down to meet them, afraid they would give her gifts!"
Sophia was indifferent, "Linda, I'm just looking out for you, afraid you, Dad, and Nora might be deceived! You said she didn't want to come down to meet Dad and Nora. Maybe she's playing hard to get because she knows you'll tell your family, and they'll go upstairs to find her!"
Linda was really fed up with Sophia, "That's not true! Stop talking. It's my mom who was saved, and it has nothing to do with you!"
Sophia pretended to be hurt and lowered her head, "Alright, I spoke out of turn! I thought Nora and you considered me family, but I guess I was wrong."
Nora looked embarrassed, "Sophia, don't misunderstand. I've always considered you family! Linda is just stubborn and said that out of anger. I'll talk to her properly when we get home!"
Sophia took a deep breath and pretended to wipe away tears, "It's okay, Nora. I understand Linda. It's fine if she doesn't want to see me as her sister. My mom passed away early, and I'm used to being alone."
Brent, seeing Sophia's grievance and mentioning his late ex-wife, couldn't help but feel a bit heartbroken, "Linda, how could you talk to Sophia like that? Apologize to her right now!"
