Chapter 240 Ms. Galatea as a New Employee

Bernard happily signed the contract with the Arabian rep in the conference room. They both stood up, shook hands, and said their goodbyes.

Before leaving, the Arabian rep rattled off a bunch of stuff in Arabic.

Bernard, who didn't grasp a word, turned to Katherine, his translator. "What's he saying?"

With a professional smile, Katherine translated, "Mr. Mitchell, Ali said this has been the most pleasant collaboration for him. They hope to continue working with the Mitchell Group for the next decade. They appreciate working with a sincere and responsible company like yours, which isn't as rigid as others."

Bernard was surprised. It was rare for the usually tough Arabian state-owned enterprise to show such enthusiasm.

Could it be attributed to Katherine's stellar translation skills?

After a quick thought, Bernard smiled and nodded at the client. "Tell him we're also looking forward to the next decade."

Katherine relayed Bernard's message in Arabic, adding a touch of her humor.

The Arabian rep laughed heartily, gave Bernard and Katherine a farewell hug, and waved happily as he left with his entourage.

Bernard was pleased with the outcome. He glanced at Katherine with a hint of appreciation. "Ms. Galatea, please see the client off properly for me."

Ms. Galatea?

Katherine paused for a moment, then smiled. "Alright, Mr. Mitchell."

Great, her position with the Mitchell Group was now secure!
Katherine saw the Arabian client off downstairs. When she got back, Bernard was no longer in the office.

Billy led her to a spot outside the CEO's office. "From now on, this is your workstation. Mr. Mitchell will call you via the phone extension if he needs anything. When he doesn't call, you're not allowed to enter his office, got it?"

Katherine nodded. "Yes, understood."

After the successful negotiation, Billy's impression of Katherine had improved, acknowledging her skills.

But that didn't mean he liked her.

He wouldn't forget how Katherine had been rude to Mr. Mitchell before and how she had bullied Ms. Mitchell!

After issuing Katherine a few more work-related instructions, Billy turned to leave.

Katherine called out, "Mr. Parker!"

Billy stopped, his expression stern. "What's up?"

Katherine motioned for him to come closer, signaling it was confidential.

Billy frowned, concerned that Katherine might be causing trouble. But he still walked closer. "What is it?"

Katherine asked seriously, "I want to know if Alex often comes here to see Mr. Mitchell."

Hearing this, a hint of suspicion appeared in Billy's eyes. She was asking if Mr. Melville often came here? What was her intention? Was she still after Ms. Mitchell's man?

Billy replied, "Mr. Melville almost never comes here. Yesterday was a special case. Why are you asking?"

Katherine's face relaxed into a smile. "Nothing, as long as he doesn't come often, I'm relieved."
Billy found Katherine's behavior odd but was ready to leave again.

Katherine called out, "Wait! Mr. Parker, I have one more favor to ask."

Billy was getting impatient. "You'd better say everything at once!"

Katherine said, "I don't want anyone from the Melville family to know I'm working here. Can you keep my employment info under wraps? Don't let anyone find out I'm with the Mitchell Group, okay?"

Billy stared at her, puzzled, before saying, "Sure, that's easy."

"Thank you very much!" Katherine embraced Billy deeply.

Billy was surprised by her heartfelt hug.

He suddenly felt that Ms. Galatea was quite warm and genuine once she got into work mode, not as distant as before.

Billy stated, "Alright, just focus on your work and don't think about irrelevant things! Even if you've successfully joined, you could still be fired if you don't meet Mr. Mitchell's expectations! Get familiar with the work environment quickly. Mr. Mitchell could return at any moment and give you tasks. Be prepared!"

Katherine nodded. "Thank you for the advice, Billy. I will work hard!"

Billy was taken aback again. Did he give her advice?

After Billy left, Katherine sat at her workstation alone, resting for a while. Being two months pregnant caused her back to ache if she stood for too long. She deeply realized for the first time that being a mother was not easy!
Successfully joining the Mitchell Group today was a big step towards uncovering the truth from back then!

In addition, she had another task to complete that day. She needed to sneak into Bernard's office when he wasn't paying attention and take a photo of the picture on his desk.

For some reason, she always found it hard to remember what Mommy looked like. Even though she had looked at the photo clearly yesterday, by the evening, she couldn't remember Mommy's face again. It reverted to the vague outline in her memory, no matter how hard she tried to recall.

Considering she usually had a photographic memory for other things, this was very strange.

Therefore, she needed to keep a copy of Mommy's photo and look at it daily to remember her face. Maybe she was still alive, and if she ever ran into her on the street, she wouldn't miss her because she didn't recognize her.

Lost in thought about Mommy, she was suddenly interrupted by a familiar woman's voice. "Katherine, what are you doing here? How dare you sit in Bernard's secretary's seat!"

Katherine snapped out of her thoughts and looked up to see Sophie, someone she hadn't seen in a while.

Didn't the police arrest Sophie for hiring someone to commit a crime? She seemed to be still serving her sentence. When did she get out of prison?

Seeing Katherine's puzzled expression, Sophie smiled smugly. "What? Are you so surprised to see me? Did you think I should still be in prison?"
