Chapter 953 A Magnet for Trouble
Leander bowed his head, "Ms. Galatea, you flatter me! Without Mr. Melville, I wouldn't be where I am today. It's all my duty!"
Katherine appreciated Leander's abilities and qualities and didn't continue the topic. She asked, "Where's Alex? Why didn't he come?"
Leander answered truthfully, "Mr. Melville is on his way and should be here soon."
Katherine pouted, "He's always like this! Yesterday, he said he would quickly get us some food and then left. In the end, the food was delivered by his subordinates!"
Leander smiled, "Ms. Galatea, you misunderstood Mr. Melville! He didn't want to worry you, so he kept quiet about the details. Yesterday, our people caught Scarlett, the mastermind behind Charles's kidnapping. Mr. Melville was worried she wouldn't confess truthfully, so he personally oversaw the police interrogation and confronted her. Mr. Melville also dealt with Sophia in prison, ensuring they won't be able to cause trouble again anytime soon."
Scarlett has been caught!

Great! With Scarlett caught, she wouldn't have to worry about her causing trouble for Charles anymore!
Through this incident, Katherine could basically confirm that it was Scarlett who spread rumors at Charles's kindergarten before!
Scarlett, that malicious woman, was truly a psychopath, not even sparing Charles, whom she had once adopted.
Katherine carried Charles towards the ward, "He's such a ladies' man, always attracting trouble because women can't resist him! You better not follow his example!"
Leander almost couldn't hold back his laughter. Katherine was still the same, always so sharp-tongued.
Not long after returning to the ward, a nurse came in to check on Charles, change his bandages, and draw some blood, telling them to wait for the results.
If everything was fine, she could take Charles home soon.
While waiting for the results, the door suddenly creaked open. Katherine looked up, thinking it was the nurse bringing the test results!
However, it was Alex who came in.
Seeing Alex, Katherine's eyes lost their sparkle. She pouted and sat back down.
Seeing this, Alex raised an eyebrow, "What? Katherine, are you disappointed to see me?"
Katherine said, "I thought it was the nurse bringing Charles's test results!"
"Daddy!" Charles exclaimed as he saw Alex, happily opening his small arms for a hug.
Alex walked over, picked up Charles, and held him in his arms, "Were you a good boy and listened to Mommy while Daddy was away?"
Charles said, "I was very good, but Daddy, don't leave for so long next time. Mommy will miss you."
Hearing Charles sell her out like this, Katherine's cheeks turned red, and her eyes became unnatural.
But Alex's eyes were filled with joy, "Oh? Really? How much did Mommy miss me?"
His gaze fell on Katherine's face!
Charles answered very honestly, "A lot! She kept checking the time and wondering why Daddy hadn't come yet!"
Katherine couldn't stand Charles exposing her like this. She got up and took Charles from Alex's arms, "What nonsense are you talking about? When did I say I missed him? Charles, you're being naughty!"
Charles was a bit confused, not knowing what he did wrong. He was just trying to help convey the love between them.
Alex was amused by Katherine's shy and angry look. He reached out and patted her head, coaxing, "Why are you so angry with me? It's my fault for coming back late!"
Katherine gave him an unhappy sideways glance, "Hmph, at least you know to come back!"
Alex smiled and then turned his head to call out to the door, "Leander!"
Leander responded and came in, "Mr. Melville, what are your orders?"
Alex said, "Take Charles out for a walk and keep an eye on him. Come back in a while."
"Yes, Mr. Melville!" Leander walked up, took Charles from Katherine's arms, and turned to leave.
Katherine was initially reluctant to let go of Charles, but she knew Alex must have something to say to her, so she hesitated for a moment and then let go.
After Leander took Charles out, Katherine turned her gaze back to Alex, wanting to ask what he wanted to say.
But before she could ask, her vision went dark as Alex's lips fiercely claimed hers.
The kiss came so suddenly that Katherine instinctively punched him twice before giving in.
His kiss was too passionate, too deep, making her unable to resist.
She didn't know how long it lasted, but Katherine felt she could barely stand when Alex finally let her go.
She slightly opened her mouth to breathe, frowned, and glared at him, "Is this why you had Leander take Charles away?"
Alex held her and chuckled softly. "What else? If Charles saw, you'd be embarrassed again!"
Katherine snorted, "Yeah, I'm not as shameless as you!"
Alex held her, gently rubbing her soft hair, "Yes, I'm shameless! But only with you, okay?"
Katherine raised her head and glared at him, "Alright, enough joking around! Let's be serious. I heard from Leander that you went to the police station to oversee Scarlett's interrogation. How did it go? Did she confess?"
Mentioning Scarlett, Alex's expression darkened, and he became serious, "At first, she didn't confess anything. But since I was there, I had ways to make her confess."
Katherine trusted Alex's intelligence and didn't ask more about that. "What about Sophia?"
Alex's eyes darkened further, "Sophia was the one who manipulated things to get Scarlett out of prison early. She knew Scarlett hated you and deliberately let her out to cause you trouble. Now, neither of them will come out again!"
Katherine had already guessed that Scarlett's early release was no coincidence, so she wasn't very surprised.
"Hmph, I told you! You're like a magnet for trouble, always attracting women wherever you go!"
Alex frowned, "Is that how you see me?"
Katherine raised an eyebrow and looked at him, "What? Am I wrong? Alex, think about it. Over the years, all the hardships we've faced have been caused by women who couldn't have you. Do you still think you're not a troublemaker?"
Alex didn't say anything, just held her tightly, "I'm sorry, it's all my fault."
Katherine didn't really blame him, just teasing him to lighten the mood. She didn't expect him to take it to heart!
"Well, it's not your fault for being good-looking! Just make sure you don't flirt around anymore!"
Alex, feeling a bit wronged, rested his chin on her shoulder, "When have I ever flirted around?"
