Chapter 135 Talk About Our Relationship

Katherine spoke in a sharp tone, clearly not in a good mood.

What was going on?

Alex's brow furrowed slightly. "What's the matter with you? Why are you throwing a tantrum at me?"

Katherine shrugged. "Alex, I'm not! I just think that when no one else is around, we don't need to act like a couple or develop feelings. You are a man and I am a woman; we should consciously keep our distance!"

It seemed like Alex's first love was about to return, and he hadn't let go of that first love either.

So, she had no interest in getting involved in someone else's relationship. She couldn't stand even a fleeting moment of being mistaken as the other woman!

For example, Sunny and Sophie saw her as the other woman, which was why they kept giving her trouble!

As for that night a few days ago, it only happened because Alex was poisoned, and there was no other choice. She would erase that memory and seal it away forever as if it never happened.

After that, when they didn't need to act, she needed to keep her distance from Alex to maintain her integrity and a clear conscience!

'Acting like a couple, , keeping a distance.'

These words made Alex's already dark eyes even more gloomy! At this point, Katherine still thought he was acting with her?

If she used her brain a little, she would see what he really felt about her!

"Keep a distance?" The man sneered coldly. "Fine, then, Ms. Galatea, please get out and don't sleep in my room. After all, we should keep our distance, right?"

"Fine! I'll leave!" Katherine nodded decisively.

Then she forcefully removed the arm he had around her waist and quickly walked out of the room to sleep in the guest room!

She really left?

The veins on Alex's forehead bulged. He stubbed out his cigarette, picked up the glass of water on the table, and drank it all in one go.

Lighting another cigarette, he took a deep drag, exhaling thick smoke, feeling irritated. He thought, ‘Katherine, what are you throwing a tantrum for!’

Suddenly, the sound of a vibrating phone caught Alex's attention. Alex exhaled a puff of smoke, squinting as he looked over.

It was his phone vibrating on the bedside table, which he had given to Katherine a few days ago.

Alex stubbed out his cigarette, got up, picked up the phone, and answered the call.

It was Teresa calling.

"Alex, have you and Katherine gotten home?" she asked.

"Yeah," Alex answered.

"Is Katherine next to you now?" Teresa inquired.

Thinking of Katherine's annoying behavior just now, Alex's face darkened. "She's already asleep. What do you need?"

Relieved that Katherine wouldn't hear, Teresa raised her voice a bit. "Nothing important! I just want to ask if you and Katherine fought? You two didn't talk to each other in the car. What happened?"

Alex frowned slightly, coldly saying, "Adult matters. Kids shouldn't get involved."

Teresa huffed indignantly. "Alex! I'm half a year older than Katherine, okay? I've been married once, and even though it didn't work out, I definitely have more experience in relationships than you! Alex, tell me what's going on. Maybe I can help you figure it out!"

Alex pinched the bridge of his nose, impatiently saying, "It's nothing. She's throwing a tantrum for no reason."

Teresa immediately disagreed. "That's not true! Girls never get angry for no reason! Especially someone as wise and intelligent as Katherine. There must be a reason!"

Alex squinted. "What do you think the reason is?"

Teresa thought for a moment. "Let me guess... Alex, have you ever confessed your feelings to Katherine?"

Alex was silent.

Teresa sighed helplessly. "I knew it! Alex, you're so clueless in a relationship. Of course, you wouldn't formally confess! But if you don't confess, how would Katherine know you like her?"

Like her?

Alex's thoughts were laid bare by Teresa's words. He cleared his throat. "If even you can easily see it, do I still need to say it formally?"

Teresa affirmed, "Of course, it's necessary! We hate ambiguous relationships the most! If you don't express your feelings clearly and still act intimately, the girl will think you're just toying with her feelings. She'll feel disrespected and, of course, get angry!"

Alex paused slightly. "Katherine is already angry. What should I do?"

Teresa was stunned. Was Alex asking her for a solution?

For the first time, the usually formidable Alex consulted her for a solution. Teresa suddenly felt quite proud.

"You need to make amends as much as possible! Please choose an appropriate time to express your feelings formally, let her know she is the one you have firmly chosen, and give her enough security! Remember! It must be romantic and genuine! Genuineness is the key! No girl can refuse a heartfelt confession from a handsome guy! Alex, trust me, it will work! Also, I think you should..." Teresa stated.

Teresa was still chattering on the other end of the phone when Alex hung up.

Feeling irritated, he took off his shirt and walked into the bathroom to take a cold shower.

When Alex came out of the bedroom, he asked a maid who happened to be passing by, "Which room is she in?"

The maid respectfully replied, "Mr. Melville, Mrs. Melville went to the guest room on the south side of the third floor. She just asked us to bring her some food, so she should be done eating and asleep by now."

Alex went up to the third floor and found the guest room the maid had mentioned. He twisted the doorknob, but it didn't turn. She had locked the door.

It was obvious who Katherine was guarding against.

With a stern face, Alex ordered, "Go get the key."

"Yes, Mr. Melville," the staff answered.

When Alex opened the door and entered the guest room, Katherine was indeed asleep.

She was frowning slightly in her sleep as if she was dreaming about something unpleasant. He sat down by the bed, his long fingers gently smoothing out the furrow between her brows.

Perhaps sensing someone nearby, Katherine opened her eyes and woke up.

Seeing Alex by the bed, Katherine was startled. Just as she was about to ask why he was there, Alex bent down and scooped her up, blanket and all, saying as he carried her out, "I have to go on a business trip early tomorrow. I'll be back next weekend."

Katherine blinked. Was Alex here just to tell her that? If he wanted to say it, why did he scoop her up?

Alex carried her back to his bedroom, gently placed her on the bed, and then said, "When I get back, we need to have a good talk about our relationship."

Katherine was actually very sleepy, but his words made her a bit more awake out of surprise.

"Go back to sleep. Sweet dreams." He didn't let her speak, tucked her in, and then turned to leave the room.

Katherine lay there in a daze for a long time before falling asleep again.

In the following days, Alex indeed went on his business trip and didn't come home.

Katherine took the opportunity to do some of her things, shaking off the bodyguards Alex had assigned to her, and spent a few days at The Crescent Group with Ambrosia and Frank, handling some work that only she could complete.

Just like that, a week quickly passed.

At 2 PM on the weekend, Teresa called her, "Katherine, where are you?"

"I'm at home," she answered.

"Today is Alex's birthday. What gift did you prepare for him?" Teresa asked.

Katherine, who was watching TV, was taken aback. "I forgot. I didn't prepare anything."

"What? That's not okay! There's still time. Come on! Let's go shopping now to buy a gift for Alex!" Teresa said.
