Chapter 412 Will Katherine Think He's Being Biased?
Katherine followed Scarlett into a big, bright room with elegant decor and a unique artistic vibe.
Everything looked pricey but not tacky.
This was the nicest room Katherine had seen so far. She had her suspicions and asked Scarlett, "Whose room is this?"
Scarlett smiled, but there was a hint of contempt in her eyes. "This room? It belonged to a woman who had an affair. Everyone thought it was unlucky, so it's been empty."
Katherine's suspicions were confirmed.
This used to be Claire's room. An amateur painter, Claire had decor that matched her style.
Katherine narrowed her eyes at Scarlett. "This room is centrally located with great lighting. It should be the main bedroom, better than your parents'. Only someone important in your family could live here, right?"
Scarlett was annoyed that Katherine pointed this out and her tone turned sharp.
"Katherine, it's not appropriate to discuss family matters with an outsider. I brought you here because the decor is beautiful. Just take a look! Now, let me show you another room that's even more beautiful!"
Katherine took one last look at her mother's old room, feeling sentimental.
Besides the tasteful decor, there were a few abstract paintings in her mother's style.
But no photos.
Someone must have put them away.
Scarlett then led Katherine to a pink children's room.
Everything was cute.
Katherine first thought it was Charles's room.
But then she remembered Charles was a boy, and this pink princess-themed room didn't fit.
She asked. "Whose room is this?"
A hint of malice flashed in Scarlett's eyes as she smiled. "Katherine, this was my room when I was a child. Isn't it pretty?"
Katherine nodded lightly. "Yes, it's nice."
Scarlett checked her watch and smiled. "Katherine, take your time looking around! Since you're pregnant, you can get some ideas for your future child's room!"
Katherine glanced around the pink room and shook her head. "No need. My child probably won't like this style."
She lost interest and turned to leave.
But Scarlett blocked her way and grabbed a pink music box from a cabinet, shoving it into Katherine's hands. "Katherine, look, isn't this pink music box beautiful?"
Katherine didn't care for pink things. She took the music box and tried to put it back without looking at it. But she accidentally touched the switch, and the music box started playing.
Two little bears holding hands spun around in the music box, and the clear music was particularly pleasant.
Hearing the familiar tune, Katherine's pupils contracted, and fragmented images flashed in her mind, causing her head to ache. She frowned deeply.
"Katherine, what's wrong?"
Scarlett suddenly slapped the music box, knocking it to the ground!
The music box fell, and the two spinning glass bears shattered. The music stopped.
Katherine snapped back to reality and looked at the broken music box, feeling inexplicably sad. She squatted down to pick it up.
Scarlett, in a sweet and self-blaming tone, said, "Oh no! I accidentally knocked it over. What a pity!"
Katherine ignored her and fiddled with the broken music box. It wouldn't play anymore.
Scarlett added, "Katherine, be careful with the broken glass! Wait here, I'll get a servant to clean it up!"
She quickly ran out.
Katherine still didn't pay attention to Scarlett. She stared at the broken music box, the music having awakened a sense of familiarity with the room.
Scarlett checked her watch again after leaving the room, a confident smile on her lips, and then went downstairs.
She reached the bottom of the stairs just as Bernard was coming in.
Scarlett walked up to him. "Bernard, you're back!"
Bernard took off his suit jacket and handed it to a servant. "What's going on? You sent me an urgent message. Is something wrong?"
Scarlett wore an innocent smile. "We have a very important guest today-Grandpa's lifesaver. I thought you should come back to entertain her properly,soI messaged you!"
"Grandpa's saviour?" Bernard's eyes tightened, realizing something.
Scarlett nodded. "Yes! She's here! Bernard, do you know who it is? It turns out the person who saved Grandpa is Katherine! What a coincidence, right?"
Scarlett emphasized "coincidence," hinting it was no accident!
Bernard didn't show any special reaction; he just looked around. "Where is she?"
Scarlett blinked. "She is upstairs! I was just showing her my room! Let's find her! We really need to thank her for saving Grandpa!"
Bernard didn't ask more questions and followed Scarlett upstairs.
As Scarlett led Bernard towards her room, she chatted, "Bernard, I let Katherine sit in my room. She just complimented the room you had specially designed for me!"
Hearing this, Bernard's eyes flickered, feeling a bit complicated.
Would Katherine think he was biased as a brother?
Just then, Scarlett suddenly screamed, "Oh my God! Katherine! Why did you go into that room? Didn't I say it was off-limits?"
