Chapter 532 Katherine's Hidden Depths

Frank rubbed his forehead and sighed self-pityingly, "Katherine, but it's so hard! You know how charming I am! How can she give up without getting her heart broken a little?"

Katherine rolled her eyes at him in frustration and continued to lecture him, "Didn't I warn you from the start? Stop messing with those love-struck girls. They can't handle it and might do something drastic. You're just giving me a headache by causing trouble!"

Frank pouted, "Alright, I was wrong! I won't do it again!"

Katherine snorted in frustration, not wanting to deal with him anymore.

Frank looked around the hospital room curiously and asked, "Katherine, where's Mr. Melville? Why isn't he here with you?"

Katherine glanced at the blue sky outside the window while answering, "He left for a business trip early this morning."

Frank complained discontentedly, "You're in the hospital, and as your husband, he still has the heart to go on a business trip? Does he even care about you?"

Katherine's brow furrowed in annoyance, and she didn't respond to Frank.

Teresa splashed her face with cold water in the bathroom, then looked at her wet and dejected reflection.

She had previously experienced a failed relationship and almost married a jerk. Now, she had fallen for another unreliable man.

Teresa couldn't help but wonder if she was just attracted to jerks.

'It's really frustrating not being able to let go!' Teresa thought.

"I thought you had better taste! Turns out you like that kind of man!" Fiona said as she appeared in the mirror, arms crossed and chin raised arrogantly.

Teresa snapped out of her thoughts and rolled her eyes at Fiona, retorting, "You think you have good taste? I haven't seen you with a high-class boyfriend either!"

Fiona huffed unhappily, "The guy I like is very high-class. I just haven't caught him yet. Wait till I do, and I'll show you!"

Teresa scoffed disinterestedly, "A truly high-class guy wouldn't be interested in a shallow girl like you!"

"You..." Fiona fumed, hands on her hips. She knew she couldn't catch Nathan and felt unworthy of him, but Teresa's sarcasm still stung.

"Teresa, you're really ungrateful! I was just trying to warn you that guy isn't good news, and you turn on me!" Fiona remarked haughtily.

Teresa dried her face, and said mockingly,, "I may not be a love expert, but I don't need advice from someone with no dating experience."

With that, she tossed the paper towel into the trash and walked past Fiona out of the bathroom.

Fiona, unwilling to let it go, quickly followed, "Who are you calling? You should be calling me auntie, no respect at all!"

Teresa ignored her and quickened her pace.

Fiona sped up, cautiously asking, "By the way, who is that guy? How does he know Katherine so well?"

Teresa, worried Fiona might misunderstand Frank and Katherine's relationship and cause trouble, answered her question, "That's Mr. Perez, the vice president of the Crescent Group and a long-time friend of Katherine."

Fiona furrowed her brows in confusion and probed further, "What? Katherine is friends with the vice president of the Crescent Group? Isn't she from the countryside? How could she know someone like that?"

Teresa rolled her eyes at her, and said impatiently, "You're really shallow. Haven't you heard the saying 'You can't judge a book by its cover.'? So what if she's from the countryside? She still made Alex fall hopelessly in love with her. Why couldn't she know a high-ranking executive?"

Fiona felt conflicted. Katherine had known such a wealthy friend from the start but never flaunted it. She realized she didn't know Katherine as well as she thought she did. "I think that guy is pretty good-looking. Why doesn't Katherine just be with him instead of Alex?" she asked curiously.

Teresa rolled her eyes dramatically as she explained, "Just because he's good-looking doesn't mean they have chemistry. Didn't I just say they're like family? How could they have romantic feelings for each other? Stop thinking about nonsense, and don't go spreading rumors to your grandparents!"

Fiona pouted, "I was just asking, and who said I was going to spread rumors!"

Teresa spoke with impatience, "It's best if you don't! I'm done talking to you. I need to go back and take care of Katherine. If Alex finds out we both ran off, he'll fly back to deal with us!"

With that, Teresa jogged back to Katherine's hospital room.

When she returned, the room was no longer just Katherine and Frank. Ambrosia and Frank's girlfriend had also arrived.

Teresa saw Frank sitting on the sofa, holding a very pretty girl and affectionately smelling her hair. Teresa was stunned.

It wasn't the first time she had seen Frank being affectionate with other girls, but today's girl was exceptionally beautiful, clean, and well-behaved.

Before, Frank often brought girls to the company, and they were always dressed flamboyantly with bold makeup. They looked like they were only in a casual relationship.

Seeing Frank with those flashy girls, Teresa would feel jealous and upset but never threatened. She always thought Frank was just playing around and wouldn't take them seriously or consider them for a long-term relationship.

Like many women obsessed with love, she believed that a playboy would eventually settle down.

But seeing the girl Frank was gently caressing today, she suddenly realized that this girl might be someone Frank could spend his life with.

A playboy might indeed settle down, but it wouldn't be with her.

While Teresa was lost in thought, Fiona wandered in behind her. She saw a woman with gold-rimmed glasses sitting by the bed, peeling an apple for Katherine, while Frank was on the sofa, being affectionate with his girlfriend, completely ignoring the situation!

"Katherine, who is this?" Fiona walked over, eyeing Ambrosia, who was dressed in limited-edition designer clothes that looked exceptionally good on her and were not at all tacky.

Ambrosia, who looked so distinguished, was peeling an apple for Katherine.

Katherine lazily replied, "A friend."

Another friend? Fiona furrowed her brows in frustration. Katherine knew so many distinguished friends, yet how come she never showed it before?

At this moment, Teresa snapped out of her daze, forcibly shifting her gaze away from Frank and his girlfriend, and walked over to Ambrosia and offered, "Ms. Hawthorne, let me peel the apple for Katherine. Be careful not to hurt your hand!"
