Chapter 463 The Galatea Family Arrives

Katherine gave a half-hearted smile. "Sure, I'll swing by the Melville Group to bug you sometime!"

Alex's rugged face softened a bit, and he leaned in closer. "How about I bug you right now?"

Before Katherine could figure out what he meant, Alex's lips were on hers, and all she could see was his perfect face.

He pinned her against the headboard, kissing her hard. Katherine snapped out of it and tried to push him away, but he was too strong.

Realizing she couldn't win, Katherine wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him back just as fiercely.

Alex paused, surprised by her response, then smiled and enjoyed the moment.

Their kiss was interrupted by a knock on the door.

Anton called out, "Mr. Alex Melville, Mrs. Sandra Melville asked me to call you down for dinner."

"Got it," Alex replied, trying to steady his breathing. Anton left without another word.

Katherine, a bit breathless, glared at him. "You ambushed me again!"

Alex wiped her lips with his fingers. "If I didn't, would you behave?"

Katherine pouted. "In broad daylight!"

Alex smirked. "If not now, then tonight. But for now, let's go have dinner with the grandparents."

Katherine's cheeks turned red as she gave him a look. She wasn't hungry, having eaten a lot at the Mitchell Group earlier, but she knew she couldn't skip dinner with the elders. So, she went downstairs with Alex.

The dining room smelled amazing.

Katherine saw Jackie and Fiona already at the table. She walked over, holding Alex's hand.

"Grandpa," Alex greeted respectfully.

Katherine followed. "Grandpa."

Jackie looked sternly at Alex, then at Katherine with a mysterious expression.

Sandra came out of the kitchen. "Katherine, you're here! Sit down; dinner's almost ready! I made Chicken Corn Soup to nourish you!"

Katherine smiled politely. "Thank you, Grandma."

Alex led her to the table, pulled out a chair, and helped her sit.

"Grandma, remember how your last batch of soup affected her?"

Sandra's soups had given Katherine nosebleeds before.

Feeling a bit guilty, Sandra looked at Alex reproachfully, then smiled at Katherine with a mix of self-blame and affection.

"Katherine, I didn't mean to overdo it last time. This time, I won't make you drink so much soup every day! I just thought you were too thin and wanted to nourish you. Drinking it occasionally won't hurt."

Katherine nodded and smiled. "I know you mean well."

Katherine was adorable, well-behaved, and sensible, making her very likable. Sandra now liked her more and more, but she was somewhat dissatisfied with her eldest grandson.

She frowned and said, "Alex, I'm not blaming you, but how have you been taking care of Katherine? Look at how thin she's become!"

Alex pulled out a chair and sat next to Katherine. He looked at her closely, then gently patted her head. "She is too thin. Grandma's right; I need to fatten her up a bit!"

Alex's touch was gentle, like he was caring for a beloved pet.

He leaned close to her ear and whispered, "Later, try the soup Grandma made. If you don't want to drink it, give it to me. Don't force yourself."

Katherine nodded, feeling reassured. She wasn't hungry and was worried about Sandra's soup.

Seeing the young couple whispering brought a motherly smile to Sandra's face. She nudged Jackie. "Jackie, look at that. Our cold and aloof Alex has learned to be caring!"

Jackie, a man of few words, watched Alex's gentle interaction with Katherine. He furrowed his thick brows but said nothing.

Katherine sensed that Jackie always looked at her with a complex, inscrutable gaze, clearly not as fond of her as Sandra was.

During dinner, Sandra kept adding food to Katherine's plate, urging her to eat more.

Katherine was overwhelmed, but Alex discreetly took the food Sandra added to her plate and ate it himself, solving the problem for her.

As dinner was ending, a servant came in and said, "There's a family outside saying they're here to see Mrs. Katherine Melville."

Katherine raised an eyebrow. "Here to see me?"

The servant nodded. "Yes, ma'am. Three of them have been here before. Last time, they said they were your family from your side!"

Family from her side?

Katherine first thought of the Mitchell family but immediately dismissed the idea. If it were them, the servants would recognize them. Plus, Bernard had promised her at noon that he wouldn't reveal her identity to the Mitchell family. She believed he wouldn't break his promise easily.

The only people the Melville family's servants could mistake for her family would be the Galatea family. If it were them, that would be even stranger! She had severed ties with them and hadn't been in contact. Why would they come to see her today?

Something unusual must be going on!

Sandra, unaware of the complexities, assumed it was her in-laws and cheerfully said, "Is it Katherine's family? Perfect, invite them in for dinner! Have the kitchen prepare a few more dishes!"

The servant was about to respond when Katherine stood up and said, "No need, Grandma. I'll go out and confirm if they're really here for me. It might be a mistake."
