Chapter 870 Old Habits Die Hard

"Who said that? Do I not count?" Nathan said with a hint of playful annoyance.

Fiona shyly replied, "Alright, stop teasing me! I need to see what Scarlett is up to. I always feel like she's up to something!"

Nathan nodded and remained silent, quietly accompanying her as they observed.

They saw Scarlett talking to a man across from her with a serious expression, occasionally gritting her teeth as if discussing something important.

The man, who looked to be in his forties, kept nodding and bowing as he listened to Scarlett, clearly indicating an unequal master-servant relationship.

About fifteen minutes later, the man stood up and left.

Scarlett sat alone, sipping her coffee and staring into space, lost in thought before she, too, left.

Seeing Scarlett leave the café, Fiona wanted to follow her, but Nathan stopped her.

"If you follow her like this, you'll be discovered!"

Fiona said anxiously, "I want to see where she's going, whether it's back to the Mitchell mansion or to meet someone else!"

As an outsider, Nathan was more rational. "She's already out. For the Melville family, it shouldn't be difficult to have someone track her movements. Following her yourself like this is likely to alert her and could end up being counterproductive."

Fiona thought carefully and realized Nathan made a lot of sense. Following Scarlett in broad daylight would make her an easy target and alert Scarlett.

With this in mind, she immediately called Ambrosia to ask her to check when Scarlett had been released and what she had been up to recently.

Ambrosia was also surprised to hear that Fiona had seen Scarlett outside. Given the importance of Katherine, she agreed to investigate immediately.

After hanging up, Fiona was still worried.

Nathan gently rubbed her head. "Alright, someone is already looking into it. Don't worry, let's wait for the news."

Fiona looked up at Nathan. "I'm sorry, Nathan. Did I make you miss the start of the movie?"

Nathan smiled nonchalantly. "It's okay. I can guess the ending without watching the beginning. Let's go; we should still catch the second half."

Fiona nodded guiltily. "Okay, Nathan. Don't worry, we'll watch the first half next time, and I'll treat you to a second viewing!"

Nathan laughed. "Alright, I'll hold you to that!"

After this little episode, they chatted casually as they headed to the cinema.

The Crescent Group.

After receiving Fiona's call, Ambrosia took a while to calm down.

Like Fiona, she was worried that Scarlett would cause more trouble.

Just after instructing her subordinates to investigate Scarlett, Sunny walked into her office.

"Ambrosia!"

She had just returned from the hospital and came to the office for some peace, but here was Sunny again!

Ambrosia had never seen such a clingy man!

"What are you doing here again? Shouldn't you be at the hospital with your father?"

Sunny shrugged. "My dad is doing great now. You won't believe how much better he looks! Ever since my sister visited him this morning, he's been like a new person. He's taking his medication, eating on his own, and even saying he wants to get out of the hospital soon to make things right with her! Seeing him like that, I have nothing to worry about!"

Ambrosia frowned. She knew Sunny was talking about Katherine.

But she wondered if Sunny remembered he had another not-so-great sister, Scarlett.

"Ambrosia, why are you looking at me like that? Are you not happy to see me?" Sunny pouted.

Ambrosia gave him a disdainful look. "You're here just in time. I have something to ask you."

Sunny's eyes lit up. "What is it? Ambrosia, if you ask me anything, I'll tell you everything I know!"

Ambrosia's expression turned serious. "When did your sister get out? Do you know?"

Sunny was momentarily confused. "My sister? Get out from where? Ambrosia, didn't we just see my sister at the hospital this morning? What are you asking me?"

Ambrosia frowned. "I'm not asking about Katherine. I'm asking about Scarlett. She's out. Do you know?"

Sunny looked surprised. "What? Scarlett is out? Since when?"

Ambrosia replied, "I'm asking you, and you're turning it back on me?"

Sunny looked puzzled. "I'm asking because I don't know! I haven't heard anything about this. Ambrosia, how do you know Scarlett is out?"

Ambrosia didn't doubt Sunny's words. "Someone saw her on the street just now."

Sunny frowned. "That's strange. If Scarlett is out, why didn't she come home? My mom isn't in Janetrick; she's been sent to Summer Villa to recuperate. Scarlett didn't come home or look for my mom. What's she doing out there? Where is she staying?"

Ambrosia pinched the bridge of her nose. "I shouldn't have asked you! I ask you one question, and you bombard me with eight! How am I supposed to know more about your family's affairs than you do?"

Sunny was unfazed. "Our family's issues are your issues too, Ambrosia. Don't forget, we're about to get married and become a family!"

Ambrosia couldn't stand him bringing up irrelevant matters, so she turned away, lost in her own thoughts about Scarlett.

Sunny moved closer. "Ambrosia, are you worried that Scarlett will harm Katherine again now that she's out?"

Ambrosia raised an eyebrow coldly. "What do you think? Hasn't Scarlett harmed Katherine enough?"

Sunny looked troubled. "I know Scarlett has done a lot of wrong things, but I thought after all these years of reform, she wouldn't do it again!"

Ambrosia laughed. "Really? You still have such a rosy view of her? Ever heard the saying 'A leopard can't change its spots'? Or 'Old habits die hard'?"

Sunny didn't like hearing Ambrosia talk about Scarlett that way, but he couldn't argue given Scarlett's past actions.

"Alright, Ambrosia! I know what you're worried about. I'll go home and ask my family if they know anything about Scarlett being out. If I find out anything, I'll tell you right away! I'll also have my family bring Scarlett back and keep an eye on her. Will that do?"
