Chapter 691 The Great Savior

Sophia just breezed past the woman and the little girl, her attendant trailing behind.

The woman felt a bit helpless about Sophia's attitude and squatted down to talk to Linda. "Linda, what's up with you today? Sophia just got home, why were you so rude to her?"

Linda looked upset. "But she called you a homewrecker. She doesn't respect my mom, so why should I be nice to her?"

The woman was momentarily speechless. She had actually heard Sophia's insult but didn't want to make a big deal out of it.

Understanding Linda's feelings, the woman didn't say anything more and led Linda to find Brent.

When they got to the lotus pond, they saw Brent barking orders at his subordinates, looking all fierce.

The woman knew Brent well. Just one look at his face, and she knew he was in one of his murderous moods again. She hated that he was still so violent at his age.

After the subordinates left, the woman led Linda over and asked, "Cole, what were you just ordering them to do?"

Brent's real name was Cole Spencer, known only to those close to him, and only his wife dared to call him by his real name.

Brent's face softened the moment he saw his wife and daughter. "Nothing, just sent them to check on someone."

The woman frowned and kept asking, "Why are you investigating someone out of the blue?"

Brent didn't dare lie to his wife and replied with a sincere smile, "Nora, don't overthink it. I just had them check on the girl who's competing with Sophia for her boyfriend, nothing else."

The woman's name was Nora Adams.

Hearing Brent's explanation, Nora didn't relax her frown and said, "Why investigate her? Are you planning to get rid of her for Sophia?"

She knew Brent's ways and was sure he was planning to clear obstacles for Sophia again.

But she didn't agree with Brent's approach.

Brent admitted, "Sophia only likes Alex. If I don't help her, who will?"

Nora looked worried as she tried to reason with him, "Cole, I know you care about Sophia, but you can't force matters of the heart. Even if you get rid of that girl, will Mr. Melville accept Sophia?"

Brent replied, "Nora, you know I owe Sophia too much. Her mom died early, and I was busy making a name for myself, leaving Sophia to be cared for by her grandparents. Now I want to make up for it with fatherly love."

Nora understood Brent's feelings. "You can't make our daughter happy at the expense of someone else's suffering. Mr. Melville has someone he loves, and I heard that girl is already pregnant with his child. If you break them up now, it's a sin."

Brent loved Nora deeply, but Sophia's wishes were also important to him. "Alright, Nora, I know what I'm doing with Sophia's matter. Don't worry about it. By the way, have you decided on a school for Linda?"

Realizing Brent was deliberately changing the subject, Nora shook her head helplessly and sighed, "When will you let Linda and me feel secure with you?"

Brent pretended not to hear Nora's words and bent down to pick up Linda. "Linda, come here. Let me teach you how to fish."

Linda, clutching her teddy bear, turned away in a huff. "I don't want to play with you."

Seeing her like that, Brent put on a mock-hurt expression. "Why won't Linda play with me? What did I do to make Linda mad?"

Linda snapped, "Daddy's gonna bully innocent people again. Linda doesn't like Daddy anymore."

Linda was born when Brent was older, so he cherished her deeply.

Brent spoiled both his elder daughter Sophia and his younger daughter Linda, trying to be fair to both.

But Sophia never accepted her stepmom Nora and didn't acknowledge Linda as her sister. She always claimed to be an only child. Because he felt guilty about neglecting Sophia when she was younger, Brent never corrected her.

Luckily, Nora didn't mind. She cared more about Brent's attitude.

Brent picked up Linda and explained in a high-pitched voice, "Linda misunderstood me again. I'm dealing with bad people, those who bully Sophia. Not innocent people."

Linda had never liked Sophia and didn't care much about those who supposedly bullied her. After hearing Brent's explanation, she just pouted and then lay in Brent's arms without saying anything.

Brent's order to investigate Alex's girl suddenly reminded Nora of something. She asked, "By the way, Cole, have you found the girl who donated blood to me back home?"

Brent, holding Linda affectionately, replied, "Oh, not yet. The info and surveillance footage of the blood donation at the hospital were erased, and our people couldn't find any leads. It's weird; donating blood is a good deed, but that kind girl was so cautious and even erased all her traces."

Nora felt a bit emotional. "Maybe she just wanted to do a good deed without being known. I heard from the hospital nurse that the girl was pregnant when she donated blood to me, and she even found another donor. I'm really worried that she might have harmed her health by donating blood. I wonder if she and her baby are okay now?"

Brent comforted her, "Nora, don't worry. Such a good girl will be fine. Don't worry, I'll keep looking for her. She's my savior. Remember that day we argued, and you left with Linda? If she hadn't donated blood to save you in time, I would have regretted it for the rest of my life!"

Nora rolled her eyes at Brent and said, "Alright, it's getting dark. Think about what to have for dinner. Sophia is back today; let's have a nice family dinner."

Meanwhile, after hanging up Sophia's call, Katherine put her phone aside and continued eating breakfast.

But Bernard overheard and knew she was talking to Sophia.

He knew Sophia had a strong background, so he asked, feeling uneasy, "Katherine, what did Sophia say to you just now?"

Katherine replied casually, "Nothing much, just that she wants to compete with me for Alex."

Bernard frowned. "If she calls to harass you again, you don't need to respond. Let her come to me if she has any issues."
