Chapter 850 Can't You Stay?
Seeing Sunny's reaction, Ambrosia was almost certain of her suspicion.
"Alright, I won't call the doctor." She moved to the bedside as Sunny had indicated. "Let me help you take off the bandage and see how the wound is doing?"
Sunny's expression stiffened. "Ambrosia, I'm really fine. There's no need to look."
Ambrosia adjusted her gold-rimmed glasses, her expression extremely serious. "You won't let the doctor see, and you won't let me see. Could it be that you're not injured at all?"
Sunny blinked and immediately averted his gaze. "I-I am injured! How else would I be lying in a hospital bed?"
Ambrosia stared at him coldly. "Fine. Then I'll go check the hospital records to see if you're a patient here!"
With that, Ambrosia stood up and turned to leave.
Seeing that he couldn't keep up the act, Sunny quickly sat up in bed. "Ambrosia, don't go. I admit it. I'm not injured. You guessed right."
Ambrosia stopped and turned back, glaring at him unhappily. "Why lie?"
Sunny got out of bed, his head hanging low, but his height still allowed his eyes to be seen, looking like a child who had done something wrong. "I have to stay in the hospital to be with my dad and couldn't leave, so I wanted you to come to the hospital to keep me company."
Ambrosia's face remained stern. "You could have told the truth. No need for the drama!"
Sunny looked aggrieved. "Would you have come if I told the truth? You'd definitely say, 'Then just stay in the hospital and take care of your father!' and then ignore me!"
Indeed, if Sunny hadn't said he was injured, she probably wouldn't have come.
Seeing her silence, Sunny mumbled, "See? If I hadn't pretended to be injured, you definitely wouldn't have come to see me! But you came when you heard I was hurt, and that makes me really happy. I was afraid you wouldn't care even if I was injured, Ambrosia."
With that, Sunny lunged at Ambrosia and hugged her. "Thank you for coming!"
Ambrosia frowned awkwardly. "Let go!"
Sunny, unconcerned, hugged Ambrosia tighter. "Why? Ambrosia, we're in a proper relationship. Isn't it natural to hug?"
Ambrosia, helpless, patted his back. "Did you forget? Your father is still in this room."
Sunny froze and then turned his head to look.
Edwin was sitting on the sofa, looking at them with a kind smile and eyes full of amusement.
Sunny's face turned slightly red, but he didn't feel too embarrassed. He pulled Ambrosia over. "Dad, since you're here, let me introduce you. This is my girlfriend, Ambrosia Hawthorne!"
The sudden introduction caught Ambrosia off guard.
Edwin looked up at Ambrosia and nodded with a smile. "Nice to meet you, Ms. Hawthorne. I apologize for the informal setting of our first meeting. Next time, please let Sunny bring you to our home so we can host you properly."
Ambrosia sighed helplessly. "Mr. Edwin Mitchell, please take good care of yourself. I hope I'm not disturbing you."
Edwin shook his head with a smile. "Not at all. Seeing Sunny with a girlfriend has really brightened my day."
Ambrosia nodded slightly and said, "I'll be going now. I'll visit you again soon."
With that, she turned and walked towards the door.
Seeing Ambrosia leaving, Sunny quickly said to Edwin, "Dad, I'll go see Ambrosia off."
Edwin nodded with an understanding smile. "Alright, go ahead!"
Sunny still seemed a bit worried about Edwin. "Dad, you..."
Edwin knew what Sunny was thinking and shook his head. "Go ahead, I promise I won't do anything foolish."
Only then did Sunny feel a bit more at ease and quickly went out to catch up with Ambrosia.
In the hospital corridor.
Sunny caught up with Ambrosia and grabbed her hand. "Ambrosia, you're already here. Why leave so soon? Can't you stay with me for a while?"
Ambrosia said, "I haven't even settled the matter of you lying to me, and you dare ask me to stay?"
Sunny chuckled awkwardly, lowering his head and fiddling with his fingers. "Ambrosia, didn't I already explain? I just really wanted to see you."
Ambrosia stared at him coldly. "A lie is a lie. Don't try to twist it."
Sunny pouted. "There are different kinds of lies! I won't lie to you about important things in the future. Don't be mad."
"So, you won't lie about important things, but you'll lie about other things?"
"Yeah, like if I want to surprise you after we get married! Sometimes a little lie can add some fun to our relationship!"
Ambrosia was momentarily stunned, then said disdainfully, "Who said I would marry you? You're already thinking about married life? Mr. Mitchell, aren't you getting ahead of yourself?"
"To be honest, I've even thought of names for our kids!"
"Don't you have anything else on your mind?"
"Of course! I'm working hard now because I need to support you in the future! And I need to figure out how to marry you!"
Ambrosia rubbed her forehead. "Alright! Stop wasting time here. Go back and take care of your father! He just went through a rough emotional patch and needs close attention!"
"Ambrosia, can't you really stay with me? I'm so bored in the hospital, and my dad keeps asking me to tell him about Katherine. My mouth is getting sore!"
Ambrosia's eyes suddenly tightened. "Your father knows Katherine is your sister?"
Sunny nodded honestly. "Yeah, he knows! Katherine just visited Edwin and even fed him oatmeal! That's why you saw Edwin so calm earlier; it's all thanks to Katherine!"
Ambrosia frowned, recalling the scene when she ran into Sophia upstairs.
