Chapter 393 Alex is Charles's Dad!
Alex came downstairs and saw Jonathan offering Katherine a bunch of desserts.
Alex frowned and stopped.
"Come here."
Everyone went silent when Alex spoke.
Katherine was enjoying her food. She looked up at Alex's stern face but kept eating.
Alex's frown deepened. "Aren't you coming over?"
Katherine finally got up, dessert in hand. "What's up? You come back and start being so harsh!"
He wrapped his arm around her waist, pulled her close, and took her dessert. "Didn't I tell you not to eat too many sweets?"
Katherine pouted. "You took forever. I was bored, couldn't drink, and just wanted some desserts. Is that not allowed?"
Alex's heart softened. "Yeah, my bad. I made you wait too long. You can punish me, but no more desserts."
Katherine pouted and huffed.
Hilton, holding a glass of wine and leaning against Issac, teased, "Alex, never thought I'd see the day!"
Alex shot him a look but didn't respond.
Hilton continued, "Katherine, Alex said you could punish him. Go for it! Make him remember not to leave you alone!"
Issac just drank his wine, staying out of it.
Jonathan laughed, "Katherine, how will you punish Alex?"
Katherine touched her chin. "Should he sleep on the couch or be in the doghouse?"
Teresa raised her hand. "How about kneeling on a pineapple? Katherine can eat the fruit while Alex deals with the spiky part! Perfect!"
Hilton clapped. "Great! I'll sponsor the pineapple! I'll have it delivered to the Melville family!"
Alex gave them a cold look. "It's late. I'll take her home. You guys continue, it's on me."
Hilton protested. "Alex, it's still early. Are you rushing home to kneel on the pineapple?"
Alex took off his coat and draped it over Katherine. "I could stay and drink all night, but she needs to sleep early. I'll arrange something another day."
Hilton shook his head, holding his wine glass. "You've really forgotten your friends after getting married!"
He walked over and teased, "No snacks, keeping her warm, worrying about her sleep! Alex, it's like you married a daughter, not a wife!"
Alex glared at him. "Get lost!"
Issac, tired of Hilton's antics, pushed him aside. "Alex, ignore him. He's had too much to drink and is just causing trouble."
Alex nodded, not bothered by his childhood friend.
Issac asked, "You drank too. Do you have a driver? If not, I can drive you."
Alex shook his head. "No need, you stay and drink with them."
Issac asked, "Then who's driving?"
Alex looked at his niece, Teresa. "Teresa."
"Here!" Teresa eagerly came over.
Alex tossed her the car keys. "Go start the car."
Teresa, who had only had juice and soft drinks, took the keys and rolled her eyes. "Alex, you only think of me for this kind of thing!"
Alex retorted, "Stop talking, it's windy outside. Go bring the car to the front entrance!"
"Okay!" Teresa obediently went outside to start the car.
She understood Alex's concern, worried that her aunt would catch a cold in the night wind.
It's so heartwarming! Who would have thought that Alex, this tough guy, would become so gentle and considerate when he found true love!
She used to worry that Alex, being so dull, would end up alone for life!
Teresa drove the car to the front entrance and honked to signal that they could come out.
After nodding to Issac and the others, Alex turned and walked out with Katherine.
"Alex!"
Scarlett's voice came along with the sound of her hurried footsteps down the stairs.
Alex stopped and turned to look, expressionless.
Scarlett, out of breath, ran down. "Alex, are you leaving?"
Alex, holding Katherine, nodded slightly. "It's getting late."
Scarlett looked reluctant. "Aren't you going back upstairs to check on Charles? After you left, his fever went up again."
Alex's brow furrowed deeply. "Isn't Bernard there? Have him call the doctor. If it doesn't work, take him to the hospital."
Scarlett nodded. "Bernard is with Charles, but what Charles needs more is his dad, not his uncle."
Everyone present knew about Scarlett's feelings for Alex and Alex's inability to completely cut ties with her.
This was a dilemma, so even the usually talkative Hilton remained silent, feeling troubled for Alex.
Alex's face was serious, but before he could say anything, Katherine smiled and spoke first, "Scarlett, you know Charles needs a dad? Then you should quickly find him one!"
Scarlett looked at Katherine weakly. "Katherine, what do you mean? Alex is Charles's dad!"
Katherine leaned lazily against Alex, smiling but speaking with strength, "Sorry, Alex is the father of my children. Other than that, he hasn't had children with any other woman.
Didn't you understand what I just said?
Let me explain it clearly!
I mean you should spend your time finding a man who loves you and your child to be his dad, instead of making someone else’s husband feel guilty for not being your child's dad. That's very unethical, don't you think?"
Scarlett's face turned very ugly, her heart fuming, but she still pretended to be weak and innocent. "Katherine, but Charles was adopted by Alex and me."
