Chapter 1006 Someone is Behind Her
During this period, Christina and Billy had been in frequent contact, and she had asked him for help with many things.
Christina knew that Billy was very capable, and it wouldn't be difficult for him to teach Cheryl a lesson.
But Christina wanted to handle this matter herself.
She wanted to learn to fight back against those who had bullied her, otherwise, she would never grow!
"I can handle it myself, and besides, Billy has already helped me a lot recently. He's your secretary, not mine. I can't keep adding to his workload." Christina pressed her lips together and gave a faint smile.
For some reason, Bernard saw a hint of heartbreaking fragility in Christina's smile.
"I'll take you to dinner." Bernard stepped forward and naturally took her hand. "Let's go."
Before Christina could react, he was already pulling her outside. "Bernard, wait."
He seemed to completely ignore Christina's words, striding out with her in tow.
Christina didn't struggle anymore, looking down at their intertwined hands, her face turning red, lost in thought.
She didn't know when it started, but she seemed to no longer resist physical contact with Bernard.
Unknowingly, their relationship seemed to have changed from what it used to be.
Bernard led her to the car, opened the passenger door, and gestured for her to get in. "Get in."
"Where are we going?" Christina looked at her now-free hand, feeling a bit unsure of what to do with it.
Bernard sighed helplessly and pushed her into the car. "What else? Taking you to dinner."
He drove Christina to a nearby restaurant and, upon being seated, told the waiter, "The usual, please."
The waiter nodded in recognition and returned promptly with their order. "Mr. Mitchell, your usual dishes are ready."
After the waiter left, Christina looked at the table full of dishes and asked, "Bernard, are these dishes freshly made? How could they serve everything within five minutes of us sitting down?"
"This restaurant prepares a table of dishes I usually eat every day. If I come, they serve it. If I don't, it becomes their staff meal for the evening." Bernard picked up a bowl, filled it with soup, and handed it to Christina.
Once again, Christina felt the lifestyle of the wealthy. The ingredients for such a large table of dishes must be expensive, and they prepare it every day. "Do you come here often?"
"Occasionally." Bernard also filled a bowl of soup for himself and drank it elegantly.
Christina pouted and started drinking the soup.
The soup didn't seem to have any special ingredients, but one sip revealed its incredible flavor, something Christina had never tasted before. "What's in this soup? Why is it so delicious?"
"Why ask so many questions? Don't talk so much while eating!" Bernard warmed his stomach with the soup and then started eating.
To watch that rare performance, Bernard hadn't had time to eat.
"Mr. Mitchell, you seem to know a lot about food!" Christina muttered and began to eat seriously.
The dishes didn't look fancy, but the taste was unlike anything she had ever had before.
After a while, Bernard looked up at her. "What are your plans next?"
Christina frowned slightly, thinking for a moment. "With this video evidence, Cheryl shouldn't bother me for a while. I plan to keep looking for a job. The sooner I find one, the sooner I can start making money."
"I told you, you don't need to work." Bernard was a bit impatient. He had already told her she didn't need to repay the three million dollars, yet Christina was still determined to find a job.
Couldn't she just relax a bit?
Christina said, "Bernard, I may not need to work while I'm staying with the Mitchell family, but after we divorce in a year, I won't be part of the Mitchell family anymore. What will I do then? I'm not like you; I don't have endless money. I still need to work!"
This was something Bernard hadn't considered.
Their contract was only for a year. After a year, they would divorce amicably, and Christina would leave the Mitchell family.
She had already severed ties with the Russell family, so she couldn't go back there after the divorce.
She couldn't stay with the Mitchell family, and she couldn't return to the Russell family. How would Christina live then?
"I'll have Billy arrange a house and a car in your name, and I'll give you some money when we divorce. You won't have to worry about your future."
After a minute of silence, Bernard said this.
His arrangement was quite thorough. With a house, a car, and money, Christina wouldn't have to worry about her future.
But she shook her head and refused.
"I've already taken so much of your money as salary. We're not a real couple; I can't take more from you."
Originally, she had agreed to the contract marriage with Bernard to escape the Russell family. Bernard had given the Russell family three million dollars and provided her with a monthly allowance. He had already given enough.
Bernard didn't expect Christina to refuse. Such generous conditions would be tempting for any woman.
However, he didn't force Christina to accept. "So, what kind of job are you planning to look for?"
She couldn't go to the Rojas Group now, and she couldn't find a better job at the moment. She would have to see what opportunities came up.
"We'll see. I'm not sure which industry I want to work in yet," Christina said with a smile, glancing down at the dishes in front of her. "Right now, the most important thing is to eat and fill my stomach. Let's dig in!"
The Russell House.
Cheryl returned home with deep resentment after realizing she had been deceived and locked herself in her room.
She never expected that Christina, whom she had always looked down on, could set up such a big scheme.
It seemed that Christina had been hiding her cunning all along, making Cheryl lower her guard.
She had been hiding it since she was so young. A teenager couldn't have such a deep scheme; someone must have been secretly teaching and helping her!
In the Russell family, only one person could have done this, and that person must be Renee.
This Renee, who appeared to be obedient to her, was secretly instructing Christina to pretend to be weak and deceive her.
The more Cheryl thought about it, the angrier she became. She had been played like a fool by this mother and daughter.
Unable to contain her anger, Cheryl got up, went downstairs, and found Renee. Before Renee could say anything, Cheryl slapped her hard across the face. "Renee, you and your daughter are both bitches!"
