Chapter 868 He Didn't Hear
Brent looked deeply at Sophia and said, "Do I need anyone else to tell me? I've seen how Trevor has treated you over the years! Why do you put up with it?"
Sophia lowered her head and continued washing the ingredients. "Dad, you don't need to worry about my affairs! I know very well what I want!"
Brent was somewhat dissatisfied. "You say you don't need me to worry now? If I hadn't intervened back then, would you have kept Trevor by your side? If Trevor had any memory, he would have left long ago! Can't you have a little dignity? Face reality and find a man who truly loves you?"
"Enough!" Sophia angrily threw the ingredients she was washing onto the ground. "Stop talking! Trevor and I are fine, and we love each other very much! I won't leave him, and I won't allow him to leave me. If Trevor ever leaves my side, I'd rather die than live without him!"
"You!" Brent was at a loss for words, unsure how to get through to the stubborn Sophia.
He had considered the suggestions of Nora and Linda. If possible, he would let Trevor return to the Melville family.
Not for anything else, but because Katherine had saved Nora back then, and he valued repaying kindness.
But Sophia was the biggest obstacle!
Brent didn't want to say more now. "You're not calm right now. Think carefully about what I said when you calm down! You all eat without me, I'm leaving!"
After saying that, Brent waved his hand and left, afraid that staying here would further agitate Sophia and lead her to do something drastic.
Sophia was in the kitchen, surrounded by sharp objects. If anything happened, the consequences could be dire.
Sophia angrily watched her father leave. Only then did her emotions calm down. She bent down to pick up the ingredients she had just thrown on the ground, but at that moment, she noticed that Trevor's room door was open!
She quickly raised her head and saw Trevor sitting in his wheelchair at the door, looking at her expressionlessly.
When did Trevor come out, and what did he hear?
Sophia felt a bit guilty. "Trevor, you're awake."
Trevor responded with a hum. "Are you cooking?"
Sophia forced a smile. "Yeah, while you and Julian were sleeping, I went out to buy a lot of ingredients to make something delicious for you!"
Trevor nodded lightly. "Thanks."
Hearing Trevor thank her, Sophia felt a bit flattered. Maybe he wasn't angry anymore?
"It's no trouble. I enjoy cooking for you two. I think this kind of life is really nice."
"Mm."
Trevor's attitude was very indifferent, showing no obvious emotions. He maneuvered his wheelchair out of the room and into the living room.
Julian, looking like he had just woken up, rubbed his eyes and followed him, going to the sofa to play with his toys.
Seeing the two of them acting normally, and thinking about the argument she just had with Brent, Sophia couldn't feel at ease.
"Trevor, were you woken up by my dad's voice just now?"
Hearing this, Trevor turned his head to look at her. "Your dad was here?"
Trevor's face was calm, showing no signs of pretense.
Sophia hesitated. "He was here just now. He talked to me for a while and then left. I thought he woke you and Julian up!"
Trevor shook his head. "I didn't hear anyone talking, but I did hear a loud door slam, which woke me up. Julian was also startled by the sound."
Sophia remembered that Brent had slammed the door heavily when he left.
So Trevor was woken up by Brent's door slam, not by hearing what Brent said!
That put her at ease!
Sophia smiled. "Brent is just like that, always making big movements. Sorry for scaring you and Julian!"
Trevor shook his head lightly. "It's okay. Why didn't you ask your dad to stay for dinner?"
Thinking about the unpleasantness between her and Brent just now, Sophia's face showed a bit of awkwardness. "My dad said he had something to do, so he didn't stay to eat with us!"
Trevor responded with a hum and didn't ask further. He wasn't really concerned about whether Brent stayed for dinner; he just wanted to dispel Sophia's suspicions!
Sophia breathed a slight sigh of relief. "Trevor, you and Julian watch some TV for a while. I'll finish cooking soon."
Fiona hurriedly got out of the car driven by her driver and ran into a dessert shop.
Nathan had already been waiting for her in the dessert shop for an hour, and his coffee had been refilled twice.
"Nathan, I'm sorry! I'm late again!" Fiona explained breathlessly.
Nathan looked up at the well-dressed Fiona and smiled. "It's okay. I ordered you a juice. Get whatever else you want."
Fiona looked at Nathan's gentle face and nodded. Sometimes, she really felt inferior.
Nathan's emotions were so stable, almost the most stable of anyone she had ever met. No matter what happened, he never seemed to get angry.
Thinking about herself, she had a bad temper.
"Your juice is here. Take a few sips to calm down."
Nathan placed the juice in front of her.
Fiona took the juice, sipped it lightly, and apologized. "Thank you, Nathan. You never get mad even though I take so long."
Nathan smiled. "You need time to dress up when you go out, so it's understandable. Besides, didn't you help Katherine with her children for a while? It's not intentional."
Fiona's face turned red. "How can someone like you even exist? I feel so lucky to be your girlfriend."
Nathan reached out and ruffled her hair. "Well, if we didn't like each other, we wouldn't be together, right? You're adorable, and I'm the lucky one to be your boyfriend!"
Fiona's cheeks turned an even deeper shade of red. Nathan's sweet words made her fall for him even more!
Nathan said indulgently, "Alright, order some more if you want. After dessert, let's go see a movie! There's a well-reviewed mystery film out, and I've already bought the tickets."
Fiona nodded, took the menu, and ordered a few more desserts she wanted to try.
