Chapter 627 Not in the Mood
"Mr. Perez, cut the crap," Teresa snapped, genuinely pissed. He barely said anything, and already he was crossing the line again.
Frank's grin vanished, and he gave her a serious look. "I'm not messing around. I'm dead serious."
Teresa's heart was pounding like crazy. She didn't buy Frank's act; she felt like he was just toying with her. "Even if you are serious, it's too late. I got a boyfriend now."
Frank handed her his phone. "Call Anthony and dump him."
Teresa was floored for a second, then she shot up, fuming. "Mr. Perez, you think breaking up is a joke? You might not respect Anthony, but I do! He's a good guy, and I'm not dumping him!"
Frank asked, "Do you even like him?"
Teresa dodged his gaze. "If I didn't, why would I be with him?"
Frank chuckled. "Nah, you don't like him."
Teresa frowned as her secret was uncovered. "Don't tell me how I feel. If I don't like my boyfriend, who else would I like?"
Frank got up and moved closer. "You like me."
Teresa's eyes widened, and she glanced nervously at the window. "I... I... Yeah, I do like you! But you don't like me. Should I waste my life on you? Anthony's serious about me, and I want to see where it goes, okay?"
"No." Frank raised his arms, pinning her against the cabinet.
Trapped, Teresa had no choice but to look at him. "Why not? What gives you the right to control me? I'm not even working at Crescent Group anymore!"
Frank leaned in. "Because I realized I actually like you. We both have feelings for each other, so why are you trying to force something with someone else?"
Teresa was stunned, doubting her ears.
'Did Frank just say he likes me? Is this a confession? No way! Any woman would fall for him, right? He's got too much experience.' Thinking this, Teresa resisted even more. "Mr. Perez, your feelings are too much. I can't handle that."
Frank smiled, squinting his eyes, his voice low and almost pleading. "I've never told another woman I like her. This is the first time I'm serious. Are you really gonna turn me down?"
'I don't believe Frank at all! He used to bring different women into his office all the time, and they'd come out looking a mess. Now he's acting all pure and sincere?' she thought.
Teresa forced herself to stay calm. "Mr. Perez, are you just trying to win me over because I'm with someone else now? Testing your charm on me? If so, just stop. I can't play these emotional games with you."
Frank knew his past was a mess. He lowered his head, burying his face in her shoulder, pretending to be vulnerable. "I'm really serious."
Teresa's heart was doing somersaults. 'What kind of move is this? Even though I know better, I can't resist when the guy I like shows this kind of vulnerability.'
"Mr. Perez..."
"Hold up, don't shut me down yet. Let me finish," Frank's voice was rough. His hands were just propped on the cabinet, keeping Teresa from bolting.
He buried his face in her shoulder, guilt eating at him over his past. "At first, I thought you were just another girl crushing on me. No big deal. But when you weren't around, something felt off every day. Seeing you with Anthony made me crazy jealous. How can you treat him the same way you treat me? I can't stand it! I don't want you to be good to Anthony!"
Teresa was baffled, thinking, 'Is Frank seriously acting cute right now?'
"Mr. Perez..."
Frank rubbed his eyes on her shoulder. "Why not give us a shot? If we get together, I swear I'll cut off all other women. Just you and me! Please, give me a chance."
Teresa's breath quickened, but she thought it over and said, "I want a stable relationship and a simple life. Mr. Perez, even though I still have feelings for you, we're not a good match.
I used to think I could be the one to make a playboy settle down. But now I get it, I'm not special. Maybe you do like me a bit. But how long can you keep that up? I don't think it would last. You'd go back to your old ways, and I can't handle being ditched again. Let's just forget it."
After saying "forget it," Teresa felt Frank's body stiffen. He asked, "Are you really not gonna reconsider?"
Teresa wavered. After all, Frank was the guy she had once chased like crazy.
Two knocks on the door broke the tension.
Frank straightened up and went to open it.
Katherine stood there, looking indifferent and a bit hostile.
Frank put on his usual smile. "Katherine, what's up?"
Katherine glanced into the room and scolded Frank, "Don't mess with Teresa. Make sure she gets home later."
Frank nodded. "Okay."
Teresa snapped out of it and stepped forward. "Katherine, I don't want to leave."
Katherine's expression turned icy. "What did you call me?"
Teresa's back went cold, and she quickly corrected herself. "Ms. Galatea, can I stay here tonight? It's been ages since we last hung out, and I have so much to talk to you about."
Katherine knew exactly what Teresa wanted to discuss. "Whatever you have to say, save it for another time. I'm not in the mood today. You should head home early too."
