Chapter 779 I Won't Let Her Take You Away

Sophia was testing her. She wanted to confirm if Katherine knew about the mix-up with the two children.

She had just seen Katherine speaking softly to Julian but hadn't clearly heard their conversation.

Katherine feigned a bit of surprise, "Triplets? Ms. Coleman, you must be mistaken. I do have three children, but I only gave birth to twins. The eldest, Charles, was adopted due to special circumstances. Don't you remember?"

Sophia stared intently into her eyes, "Really? I heard you had triplets back then."

Katherine understood Sophia's intention and feigned shock, "You've heard that too? During one of my prenatal check-ups, a doctor told me I was carrying triplets. I remember it clearly, but I only gave birth to twins! I later convinced myself that I must have remembered wrong. I didn't expect you to have heard such rumors too! Ms. Coleman, who did you hear this from? Did they know something? Did they see someone steal one of my children?"

Sophia was startled by Katherine's reaction and pulled her hand away, "I can't remember who said it. I just heard that you had three children. Maybe they included the adopted one."

Katherine looked disappointed, "I thought you knew something that could prove I really was pregnant with triplets back then!"

Seeing Katherine's current state, Sophia was skeptical.

From this conversation, Sophia roughly understood the situation. It seemed Katherine didn't know she had given birth to triplets, and those around her were keeping it from her.

Katherine only vaguely remembered a doctor telling her she might be carrying triplets.

And now, she likely didn't know about the mix-up because she wasn't aware or sure she had another child.

Sophia thought about this and then looked at Julian, who was seriously picking out toys, and deliberately called out, "Julian!"

Julian's hand froze as he picked up a box of toys. Hearing Sophia's voice, he dropped the toy and fell to the ground.

Katherine rushed over to check on him. "George, are you okay? Let Mommy see."

Seeing Katherine rush over and call out George's name, Sophia's doubts were almost completely dispelled.

She also confirmed that the child with Katherine was Julian, and the one with them was George!

Katherine checked her son and, confirming he wasn't hurt, picked up the toy for him, "Is this what you wanted?"

Julian didn't look at the toy but turned his gaze to where Sophia's voice had come from, but there was no one there.

Katherine saw Julian's reaction and looked over, seeing that Sophia had already left.

She narrowed her eyes, knowing full well.

Meeting Sophia here was no coincidence; Sophia had come here to test her.

Earlier, when she was still at the Melville Manor, she received a text message from an anonymous source: [Sophia probably knows about the mix-up and that you have another child. Stay calm and don't let her know you are aware of my existence and the mix-up.]

The message wasn't signed, but Katherine immediately knew it was from Alex.

That was why she acted the way she did in front of Sophia, likely fooling her for now.

They couldn't let Sophia know they had figured everything out. Sophia needed to feel she was still in control, so she wouldn't be overly cautious.

Otherwise, Sophia might use the children's safety to threaten them.

"Mommy, was Sophia here to take me back?" Julian asked uneasily. Although he hadn't seen Sophia, he was sure he had heard her voice.

Katherine hugged Julian, "No, Mommy won't let her take you away again. Don't worry."

Seeing Julian's resistance to Sophia, Katherine couldn't help but worry about George. Was he okay over there? Was Sophia targeting him?

She couldn't bring George over now; that would attract unnecessary attention and complicate the situation.

Even though Alex had lost his memory, he knew about George and should protect him, right?

After buying toys for the three children, Katherine quickly took them home.

Once home, she immediately opened her computer and used her special skills to trace the source of the text message, trying to contact Alex.

S Music Restaurant.

Teresa sat by the window, sipping orange juice and looking at the street scene outside.

She had been waiting for forty minutes, and her blind date still hadn't shown up!

Her mother had assured her that he was a catch, someone who had studied abroad. But making her wait forty minutes on their first meeting? What kind of person does that?

She was already in a bad mood, and sitting here waiting for someone she didn't even want to meet was making her even more irritated.

She had just talked to her psychologist, Valentin, in the morning. He suggested she try dating again and not be afraid of getting hurt.

So she listened to her mother and went on the blind date! She thought a man introduced by her family would be more reliable than someone she met outside since she no longer trusted her own judgment!

But it turned out the family introduction wasn't much better!

She hated people with no sense of time!

While cursing her blind date in her mind, a man suddenly pulled out the chair and sat down in front of her.

Teresa looked up and almost spat out the orange juice she had just sipped!

The man in front of her wasn't just old; he was truly greasy and balding, with only a few strands of hair left.

Was this the high-quality talent her mother had found for her?

Whether this old man was high-quality or not, he certainly didn't look like someone who had just finished graduate school!

"You must be Ms. Harris! Sorry, there was some traffic, so I'm a bit late. You don't mind, do you?"
