Chapter 336 Surgery
At the ER entrance, after over an hour, the door finally opened, and the medical staff wheeled out the unconscious woman.
The doctor said, "Ms. Galatea, thanks for your quick help. The patient is out of danger."
Katherine nodded. "Glad she's okay."
The little girl clung to the bed, worried. "Mom!"
A nurse bent down to comfort her. "Sweetie, don't cry. Your mom needs rest. When she wakes up, she'll talk to you. Be a good girl and let her rest, okay?"
The girl nodded. "Okay! Linda will be good!"
Katherine helped transfer Linda's mom to a hospital room.
The staff said they contacted the girl's family, who were on their way and would arrive in the afternoon.
Feeling relieved, Katherine quietly left the hospital.
Outside, she called her subordinate. "Ambrosia, book me a flight back to Janetrick."
Ambrosia was surprised. "Katherine, you're leaving today? Not waiting for me?"
Katherine replied, "No, I can't stay at the hotel; it might expose my identity. Erase any records of my stay!"
"Katherine, I checked with the hotel. The masked man already left. We used fake names to check in, so they can't disclose it," said Ambrosia.
"Good, book the ticket!"
"Yes, Katherine!"
Lion had sobered up and left; glad he's okay.
Who knows when they'll meet again?
In the hospital room,
the patient slowly woke up, still weak.
The little girl was excited. "Mom, you're awake!"
The woman smiled. "Linda, Mom's okay now. Were you scared?"
Linda shook her head. "As long as Mom's okay, I'm not scared! By the way, a sister donated a lot of blood for you!"
The woman nodded. "We met a kind person!"
A nurse came in to check on the patient.
While taking her temperature, the woman asked, "My daughter said a girl donated blood for me. Where is she? I want to thank her."
The nurse replied, "Yes, Ms. Galatea donated blood for you, but she already left. She was very kind. Our blood bank was low, and she insisted on donating even though she was pregnant.!"
The woman was shocked. "Pregnant... and she still donated blood? How can I ever repay her?"
After the nurse left, a man in his forties hurried in.
"Dad!"
Linda ran to him. "Dad, Mom got hurt!"
The man picked her up. Seeing his wife awake, he sighed in relief and walked over. "Honey, thank goodness you're okay. What would we do without you?"
The woman on the bed frowned. "Without me, you can just find someone young and pretty!"
The man looked helpless. "Don't say that now!"
The car accident happened after a big fight when his wife left with their daughter.
Now, with his wife injured, he didn't dare argue. He sat by the bed, holding their daughter, apologizing, and comforting his wife.
The hospital director came by to express his concern. "Mr. Spencer, so this is your wife!"
Cole Spencer stood up and shook his hand. "Thanks for your hospital's efforts in treating my wife."
"You're welcome, it's our duty!"
"My wife mentioned someone donated blood for her despite being pregnant. Where is this person?"
The director replied, "I wasn't there, but I heard about Ms. Galatea's heroic act. Her full name is Katherine Galatea."
"Katherine Galatea... Got it. I'll find her and thank her properly!"
The director nodded, admiring the kind girl. Good deeds are rewarded!
Cole Spencer, a big shot with connections in both the underworld and legitimate world, now had a benefactor in Katherine Galatea. She'd be blessed in the future!
A few days later, Katherine visited the Ayers family to see her grandparents, as promised. She also asked the older servants about her mother.
The servants said her mother had a few happy years after marrying into the Mitchell family, but later, constant arguments with her husband. She often took the kids back to her parents' home.
The arguments were caused by her mother's best friend, Alice Tate, who was Scarlett and Sunny's biological mother. After her mother disappeared, Alice married Edwin shortly after.
Katherine could guess the scheming her mother faced from Alice. Like mother, like daughter. Given Scarlett's behavior, Alice must be quite the character.
She declined the car arranged by Macus and Aria and walked out alone.
A black car was parked at the Ayers' entrance. Before Katherine could wonder who it was, Bernard's trusted subordinate, Billy Parker, got out and said, "Ms. Galatea, Mr. Mitchell asked me to take you to the hospital for the surgery we discussed."
Katherine raised an eyebrow and looked at him, silent for a long time.
Billy added, "Ms. Galatea, rest assured, everything is ready at the hospital. All the best conditions, including post-surgery supplements."
Katherine's lips curled into a sarcastic smile. "Bernard is really thoughtful! Let's go then."
She didn't hesitate and got into Billy's car.
Meanwhile, Leander was reporting in the president's office. "Mr. Melville, we still can't find any info about Rabbit at the hotel in Kryptonix City. She used a fake name, and any footage of her has been processed."
"Okay." The man took a sip of coffee.
If they can't find anything, so be it. They're in the same line of work, and he believed that even if she saw his true face, she wouldn't spread it around.
If she dared to spread it, her own identity would also be exposed, and then she couldn't blame him for being unkind.
Leander continued, "However, we did find traces of Ms. Galatea's activities at a hospital in Kryptonix City."
Hearing Katherine's name, Alex's face darkened, and his eyes narrowed. After a moment, he asked, "What was she doing at the hospital?"
