Chapter 1010 Virginia Called Again

Christina looked up at Bernard with a curious expression.

Bernard, sitting not far away, caught her gaze and nodded nonchalantly.

Unexpectedly, it turned out to be true.

Bernard was really going to take her to the movies.

"Alright, hurry up and eat, the movie will start soon," Hellen stood up, pulling Christina towards the dining room.

In the dining room, the servants had already prepared dinner. Hellen pulled her to sit down and served her some food.

Christina ate dinner with a heart full of doubts. After dinner, Bernard gestured for her to go out with the car keys.

Although Christina still felt very strange, she followed Bernard into the car under the joyful gazes of Hellen and Vincent.

"Bernard, are you really taking me to the movies?" Christina couldn't help but ask after getting in the car.

Bernard started the car and responded without looking back, "Why? You don't want to go?"

"Not really," Christina mumbled, looking down. She didn't mind watching a movie, but it felt strange to be going with Bernard.

Bernard didn't speak along the way, and Christina didn't initiate a conversation either. She turned to look out the window, watching the changing scenery.

Come to think of it, it had been a long time since she last watched a movie.

She used to think it was a bit expensive and was reluctant to go. She went a few times with her classmates in college.

After graduation, Renee started controlling her life. She lost her freedom and didn't have enough money, so she hadn't gone to the movies since.

At the cinema, Bernard got the tickets and looked at the movie title, "It's actually this one."

Christina, hearing his words, suddenly realized that this movie might not be the one he wanted to watch, so she leaned over.

"Who chose this movie?"

Bernard turned to look at her, almost bumping into her head, "Grandma chose it."

Now, Christina understood completely.

It turned out that this movie wasn't Bernard's idea, but Hellen's request.

Without Hellen, Bernard probably wouldn't have thought of taking her to the movies.

However, Christina didn't feel too upset. She wasn't Bernard's real wife, so he didn't need to spend much effort on her.

But this time, Hellen arranged the movie, and Bernard didn't refuse. He really took the time to bring her, which made her very happy.

"Want a drink?" Christina smiled and pointed to a nearby drink shop, "Since you're treating me to a movie, I'll treat you to a drink."

Bernard usually didn't drink such things, but seeing her expectant look, he didn't refuse.

"Do you have anything you want to drink? If not, I'll just get what I like." Christina asked for Bernard's opinion, then ran to the drink shop and bought two drinks, handing one to Bernard, "I've had drinks from this shop before, they're pretty good. Try it!"

Bernard took the drink and had a sip. It was indeed quite good.

There were still twenty minutes before the movie started, and the two of them sat in the cinema lobby, feeling a bit awkward.

Christina wanted to say something to Bernard several times but didn't know what would be appropriate, so she chose to remain silent.

"Let's go, we can go in now," Bernard stood up after checking the time.

They had their tickets checked and found their seats.

Hellen had chosen a regular screening to let them experience a normal couple's life, and the place was packed.

Bernard, in his black suit, looked a bit out of place among the casually dressed crowd.

Seeing his slightly uncomfortable expression, Christina couldn't help but smile and leaned in, "Do you regret not changing clothes? Regular people rarely wear suits for outings."

"Just watch the movie," Bernard said seriously, pushing her head back.

Christina touched her head and then quietly watched the movie.

The movie started; it was a romantic love story.

It seemed Hellen had carefully chosen the movie to help them bond.

Bernard's phone rang shortly after the movie started. He answered in a low voice, "Now?"

Christina turned her head, sensing who might be on the other end of the call.

After hanging up, Bernard looked a bit troubled and gave Christina a meaningful look.

Christina realized something and quickly smiled, leaning in to whisper, "It's okay; if you have something to do, go ahead. I'll watch the movie by myself. If Grandma asks later, I'll cover for you."

The call was from Virginia, saying she got injured on set and hoped he could come.

Bernard didn't know how to refuse her. But he had promised to watch the movie with Christina, and leaving for a call made him feel guilty.

Seeing Christina being so understanding, his guilt deepened.

"Go ahead, I'm really fine," Christina said, trying to keep her expression neutral, hiding her disappointment.

How could she not be disappointed?

Initially, Christina didn't mind missing the movie, but Bernard brought her, and they sat down together, waiting for it to start.

Christina's heart was filled with hope, only for it to be dashed at this moment.

Seeing her disappointed expression, Bernard hesitated, then grabbed her hand and led her out of the cinema.

"Bernard, what are you doing?" Christina hadn't reacted yet and was already being pulled out.

They got in the car, and Bernard opened the location Virginia sent, following the navigation.

"Bernard, I haven't finished the movie yet; why are you pulling me out?" Christina felt bad about the wasted tickets. Even if he had to see Virginia, she could still watch the movie.

Wasting one ticket was better than wasting both.

"A movie ticket costs thirty dollars, two tickets are over sixty dollars. We can't get a refund after checking in," Christina lamented the money, unable to stop herself from nagging, "And I really wanted to see that movie, now it's wasted."

Bernard, focused on driving, chose to ignore her nagging.

Seeing no reaction from him, Christina eventually stopped talking, feeling it was pointless.

After about half an hour, Bernard arrived at the set Virginia mentioned. He got out, and Christina stayed in the car.

Bernard walked to the passenger door and opened it, "Get out."
