Chapter 93 Alex, She's Your Wife
At 8 PM in Lunar Haven.
When Alex arrived, the receptionist handed him the key card for room 808, saying that the female guest in room 808 had instructed her to do so in advance.
Upon reaching room 808, he swiped the card and entered directly.
The luxurious suite was empty, with only the sound of running water coming from the bathroom.
Alex walked past the bathroom, his dark eyes glancing indifferently at it. Through the intricately patterned glass, the faint silhouette of a curvy woman taking a shower could be seen.
His pupils contracted slightly, and he pursed his lips, instinctively looking away.
On the dining table, there were six dishes and a soup, still steaming hot.
Did Katherine cook this meal for him herself?
He had heard the butler at home mention that Katherine occasionally made some snacks for herself.
Could she really cook?
Alex squinted slightly, noticing a note placed next to the tableware on the dining table. The note clearly read, “Dear Mr. Melville, please start eating without me. The food won't taste good if it gets cold. I got a lot of unpleasant cooking smells while making the meal, so I need to take a shower before joining you.”
Alex raised an eyebrow, a slight and unconscious smile forming at the corner of his lips.
It was rare for that usually unkempt and careless wild girl to pay attention to details like body fragrance when having a meal with him.
Alex thought, ‘Katherine chose a hotel as the place. What is she planning?’
A hint of mocking amusement flashed in Alex's eyes as he pulled out a chair and sat down elegantly, trying a few dishes on the table. The taste was decent, nothing extraordinary.
It couldn't compare to the meals prepared by his chef. However, it was Katherine's heartfelt effort, which still had a unique flavor.
After tasting a few bites, Alex put down his utensils, massaging his temples with a tired and complex expression, revealing a deep and unfathomable sense of conflict.
Alex had spent the first half of his life busy with family business, having no time for romance and never showing much interest in any woman.
Katherine had only been around for a little over twenty days, yet she could easily disrupt his rhythm and unsettle his emotions.
She was supposed to be a temporary solution to appease Jackie, but Alex often found his heartwarming at the thought of her various annoying, laughable, and adorable antics.
Alex wiped his mouth with a napkin, recalling the passionate kiss at noon and Katherine's angry outburst, ‘But to me, you're a man!’
Alex admitted that he was momentarily lost in the moment, unable to control himself.
Perhaps he should reconsider his relationship with Katherine.
At that moment, the sound of the bathroom door opening echoed.
Sherry walked out wrapped in a towel, pretending to be surprised and shy even though she knew the man had arrived. She bashfully tightened the towel around her.
"Oh my! Mr. Melville, you're here! I didn't know! I forgot to bring my clothes before taking a shower." Sherry called out.
Alex furrowed his brow, then asked, "Why are you here?"
Sherry was taken aback and then answered, "I'm the one who invited you here for dinner! Who else could it be?"
Alex narrowed his eyes coldly, a flicker of anger rising in them, saying, "Where is your assistant?"
"Oh, you mean Katherine... Mr. Melville, I'm sorry. Katherine is a country girl with poor character and knowledge. I take full responsibility for what happened yesterday when she burned you. I shouldn't have hired such an incompetent person as an assistant. I sincerely apologize and will fire her immediately!" she then remarked.
As Sherry spoke, she coyly walked towards the man, suddenly twisting her ankle and falling. The towel around her came loose, and she landed on the floor in a graceful S-shape, feigning a tearful voice. "Oh... Mr. Melville, could you help me up? My leg hurts so much."
Alex stood up and walked towards the exposed Sherry.
Hearing Alex's approaching footsteps, Sherry began to race her heart. He was coming. The man she wanted, the benefactor for the rest of her life, was about to hold her!
However, to Sherry's flushed anticipation, Alex merely stepped over her without a glance, heading straight for the suite's door, not even lowering his eyebrows.
Sherry froze, reaching out weakly. "Mr. Melville? Where are you going? Don't leave, Mr. Melville. It hurts so much. Help me."
Alex remained indifferent and left.
Sherry tried to get up and chase after him, but being naked made it inconvenient. It was too late to find clothes now.
What was going on? This wasn't supposed to happen!
Lilian had added those two aphrodisiac ingredients to every dish. It was said that just a little bit would be effective for any man!
The tableware had clearly been used. Mr. Melville must have eaten!
But why was Alex still so cold after seeing her body without any reaction at all?
Alex walked out of the elevator with a grim face, exuding a chilling aura.
A few minutes ago, Alex reconsidered his relationship with Katherine and was ready to have a serious talk with her.
And she, with sweet words, invited him to meet at a hotel, only to have him meet another woman clearly trying to seduce him!
Katherine was really generous, not caring at all whether her husband would succumb to another woman's temptation and cheat!
Had Katherine never taken him seriously?
Thinking of this, Alex clenched his fists in anger, the veins on the back of his hand bulging.
His phone suddenly vibrated with an incoming call from an unknown number.
Alex answered with a cold face, putting the phone to his ear.
"Alex, your wife hasn't come home so late. Are you not worried? Not even call her?" one guy wryly said.
Alex stopped abruptly, then asked, "Who is this?"
"Never mind who I am. Katherine is with me now!" he then sneered.
Alex darkened his eyes and laughed coldly, saying, "Is that so? You can have that woman for free. Do whatever you want with her."
The kidnapper on the other end almost choked, asking, "Alex! Are you out of your mind? She's your wife!"
Alex remained unfazed and said, "A wife can be replaced."
With that, he hung up without hesitation.
On the other end of the line.
In an abandoned field inside a dilapidated warehouse.
The kidnapper, having been hung up on, turned angrily to look at Katherine, who was tied to a chair, and mocked. "Damn, I thought you were important to Alex, but you're useless!"
The kidnapper had put the call on speaker, and Katherine had heard everything clearly.
Alex's tone and words were chillingly indifferent.
Katherine darkened her eyes. She wasn't too surprised by the outcome, but she was genuinely disappointed, with a sarcastic and self-mocking smile forming on her lips. She had thought Alex would spend a fortune to ransom her, given that he had once said he could give her anything but love.
How laughable! She had believed it!
She was just a tool. Her life or death meant nothing to Alex, not even worth a bit of his time or effort.
