Chapter 938 Successful Positioning
Katherine was so worried that she lost her composure until she saw Alex turn on the computer, and then she suddenly regained her calm and rational side!
Yes, through the computer, unconventional methods might be able to trace the number that just called to warn them not to call the police!
Realizing this, Katherine immediately went over to push Alex out of the seat, "Get up for a moment, I need to use the computer!"
Alex turned to look at her, his eyes calm but concerned. "Stay put and watch. I'll handle the rest."
Katherine didn't know that Alex also knew those unconventional methods. She was about to tell him that she could hack into the mobile system to check, but before she could speak, she saw Alex had already hacked into the underground network and logged into Lion's account.
Lion!
He was actually Lion!
Katherine was very surprised, but now she didn't have time to ask too many questions. Knowing that Alex was Lion, she quieted down and stood aside to let Alex trace the number's location!
If Alex was Lion, his skills would definitely be better than hers!
Sure enough, in less than a minute, Alex successfully located the number from which the kidnapper had called!
The two looked at the location on the computer screen, then glanced at each other, and almost simultaneously moved to head out.
Alex originally didn't want to take Katherine with him; he didn't want her to be in any danger. But he knew her well—she wouldn't just stay home obediently. Instead of letting her worry and potentially act recklessly, he decided to take her along and protect her by his side!
The two hurried downstairs, instructing Jackie, Sandra, and Fiona to take good care of the three kids at home, and not to do anything else or leave the house until they returned!
Jackie and Sandra wanted to ask something, but Alex and Katherine were already out the door, and the roar of the car engine faded away.
Fiona was very worried but could only try to comfort Jackie and Sandra, "Grandpa, Grandma, don't worry, Alex and Katherine are the smartest people I know. They will definitely find Charles!"
But honestly, how could they not worry?
They were going to find the kidnappers and get Charles back. Most of those kidnappers were desperados, what if...
As the car sped down the road, Alex said to Katherine, "We still need to call the police, but we can't use our phones—they're probably being monitored. Grab the laptop from the back seat and hack into the police system. Contact them that way and make sure they don't tip off the kidnappers!"
Katherine nodded, "Got it!"
She then turned around to get the laptop from the back seat.
Meanwhile.
In a cave in the wilderness, a child was locked in a 3-foot-high dog cage, sleeping groggily.
There was no light in the cave, only the faint glow of a campfire.
The burning fire brought a bit of warmth to the cold cave.
Charles woke up from the cold. He hadn't fallen asleep naturally; he had been drugged. Now that the drug had worn off, he felt cold and uncomfortable all over, and his head hurt a bit!
Rubbing his eyes and sitting up, Charles saw everything around him, feeling confused and dazed.
Where was this? Was he still dreaming?
"Awake, baby?"
Hearing someone speak, Charles was startled and then looked towards the source of the voice.
A man was sitting by the fire, smiling at him, but his smile didn't look friendly at all, it was very scary!
It took Charles a few seconds to remember, "You... you're the balloon seller!"
The man was about forty, unshaven, and dressed sloppily, making him somewhat recognizable, so Charles remembered him.
He still remembered that this sloppy man had talked to him a lot through the back door of the garden at home.
"Oh! You remember me! Unfortunately, I don't have any balloons to sell you now!"
Charles sensed danger and shrank into a corner of the dog cage, asking, "Why did you bring me here? What do you want?"
Seeing Charles's frightened look, the sloppy man found it even more amusing, "Don't be afraid! I won't hurt you. Your mom asked me to bring you here! She misses you!"
Charles didn't believe him and frowned, "Nonsense! If my mom missed me, she could see me at home. She wouldn't have you bring me to such a scary and secluded place! Who are you really, and what do you want?"
The sloppy man smiled mysteriously, "I'm not lying. You'll know when your mom comes!"
Seeing the sloppy man speak so confidently, Charles hesitated. Could it really be Katherine who had this man bring him here?
But why? This place was so eerie, it didn't look like a place for people to live, and he was locked in a dog cage!
Could it be that Katherine was planning to surprise him by scaring him first?
While Charles was pondering the situation, he heard some noise outside.
Charles immediately perked up, hoping it was Katherine coming to get him!
However, the person who walked in after pushing aside the weeds at the cave entrance was not Katherine, but Scarlett, who Charles considered a nightmare!
It was her.
How could it be her?
Seeing Scarlett come in, the sloppy man quickly got up to help, but Scarlett disdainfully slapped his hand away!
"Get away, don't touch me!"
The sloppy man wasn't angry, instead, he smiled flatteringly, "Miss Mitchell, I brought the person you wanted! I risked my life to help you, you can't shortchange me on the money you promised!"
Scarlett glanced at him, "Don't worry, you'll get your money! Go stand guard outside, and let me know immediately if there's any movement!"
"Got it!" The sloppy man responded and obediently went out.
After the sloppy man left, the narrow cave was left with only Scarlett and Charles.
At this moment, Charles had curled up into a small ball. He was even more scared than when he was alone with the sloppy man, trembling all over.
Scarlett walked to the dog cage, squatted down, and looked at Charles inside, smiling, "Charles, do you remember me? I'm your mother."
Hearing Scarlett ask this, Charles's small body stiffened, and then he trembled even more.
"Charles, lift your head and look at me! I've missed you so much these years!"
Not only did Charles not lift his head, but he also buried his head deeper into his knees, clearly unwilling to face Scarlett.
(I highly recommend a captivating book that I couldn't put down for three days and nights. It's incredibly engaging and a must-read. The title of the book is "Revenge of the Entertainment Queen" You can find it by searching for it in the search bar.)
