Chapter 533 Don't Touch

Ambrosia kept peeling the apple, her fingers working like magic. She sliced off a piece and brought it to Katherine's lips. "Nah, it's cool. Before you showed up, I was the one looking after Katherine."

Teresa blinked, watching Ambrosia feed Katherine. Something felt off.

Even though she worked at Crescent Group, she barely interacted with Ms. Hawthorne. The woman was a total workaholic, barely spoke, and had this icy vibe that made people keep their distance.

But around Katherine, Ms. Hawthorne was like a whole different person—warm, even.

Teresa had never seen her act like this with anyone.

While Teresa was lost in thought, Fiona, who couldn't keep her mouth shut, sneered, "Man, Alex has a ton of competition. Even chicks wanna steal his wife!"

Teresa's face darkened, and she yanked Fiona to shut her up.

Ambrosia heard Fiona but didn't care. She sliced another piece of apple and fed it to Katherine. "Katherine, since Mr. Melville's on a business trip, why not crash with us after you're out? I don't feel good about you being alone at the Melville place."

Katherine munched on the apple, mulling over Ambrosia's offer.

Fiona jumped in, "No way! She's part of the Melville family now. She can't just go live with you! Everyone's got their eyes on Katherine!"

Katherine thought,' What is Fiona on about now?'

Ambrosia shot Fiona a look, her gold-rimmed glasses catching the light. "Ms. Harris, you're overthinking. I'm just worried the Melville family won't take good care of Katherine. If she'd let me let me take care of her, Alex wouldn't even be in the picture."

Katherine was speechless.

Ambrosia's words were even more loaded!

Fiona stepped up, pushing Ambrosia away like she was a ghost. "Katherine, did you hear that? This chick's got ulterior motives. Stay away from her! She might try something!"

Katherine's mouth twitched. "You're more paranoid than Alex! Chill out. This is my childhood friend; call her Ambrosia."

Fiona eyed Ambrosia suspiciously. "With Alex gone, I gotta keep an eye on his wife and make sure no one tries anything."

Katherine just sighed.

Ambrosia ignored Fiona, the little brat. She put down the knife and apple, adjusted her glasses, and stood up. "Katherine, I'm gonna wash my hands."

Katherine yawned and nodded, glancing at Teresa, who was staring off at Frank. She frowned and thought for a moment. "Teresa."

Teresa snapped back. "Huh? Katherine, what's up?"

Katherine said, "I'm good here. No need to hang around all day. Go do your thing, just drop by when you can."

Teresa shook her head, standing her ground. "No way, I promised Alex I'd take care of you. I'm not breaking that promise."

Katherine sighed. "I'll talk to Alex. You don't have to follow his every word. He's all about work. He even messed with your schedule to have you look after me. Why are you going along with it?"

Teresa shrugged. "Katherine, it's not a big deal. I took leave. Mr. Perez approved it and got others to cover my work."

Katherine shot a glare at Frank. He'd just claimed he didn't know Teresa was here, but he approved her leave? Yeah, right. The guy couldn't tell the truth to save his life.

Katherine sighed again, thinking Teresa watching Frank's act was just adding salt to the wound.

"Katherine, I've sorted out Ms. Harris's work. Since she wants to help, don't turn her down," Frank chimed in with a smile.

If his girlfriend wasn't around, Katherine would've decked Frank.

Seeing no one paying him any mind, Frank turned to Teresa. "Ms. Harris, you're on leave, so I shouldn't bother you. But I'm in a bit of a bind. Could you help me out?"

Teresa blushed as Frank spoke to her. She glanced at him and his girlfriend, feeling awkward, but nodded. "Mr. Perez, just tell me what you need. I'll help if I can."

Frank grinned. "I knew you were the best! Could you book a room at a nearby hotel? My girlfriend got up early to visit Katherine and now she's tired. I want to take her to rest."

He wanted her to book a room for his girlfriend? Seriously?

Even though Teresa had feelings for him, she wasn't stupid. She frowned. "Mr. Perez, if you need a hotel, why not book it online yourself? It's super easy."

Fiona muttered, "Exactly!"

Frank gave a helpless smile. "Yeah, I know online booking is easy, but my phone's dead. And as a guy, it's not right to ask my girlfriend to pay. Plus, she's too shy to book it herself."

Teresa went silent.

Fiona rolled her eyes. "Then 'rest' in the car! Asking someone else to book a room? I don't think your girlfriend's that shy! What kind of 'good girl' goes to a hotel with a guy in broad daylight? Stop pretending."

After Fiona's snarky comment, the girl in Frank's arms buried her face in his chest, looking like she was about to cry.

Frank hugged her, patting her back gently. "It's okay, don't listen to her. I'm just taking you to rest. I won't stay with you, so no one can say anything, alright?"

The girl nodded, feeling wronged.
