Chapter 738 The Son Has Changed
"Katherine, could it be that recently at the kindergarten, the teacher mixed up the clothes and put another baby's clothes on George, and we didn't notice? And today, he wore them again!" Fiona speculated.
Katherine thought for a moment; it was indeed possible.
"Forget it, let's go down and eat first. Don't keep the grandparents waiting."
"Okay!" Fiona nodded and reached out to Edith, who was still sitting obediently by the bed. "Come on, Edith, let's go eat!"
Edith seemed to be lost in thought. Hearing Fiona call her, she snapped out of it, obediently jumped off the bed, and walked towards Fiona.
During dinner, Katherine squinted at Julian sitting with Charles and noticed something unusual.
He didn't know how to use a fork?
Her three children had always been smarter than their peers. They had learned to use a fork early on without much teaching.
But at this moment, Julian couldn't seem to pick up any food with his fork.
This made Katherine feel very strange.
Seeing him getting frustrated and putting down the fork to grab the food with his hands, Katherine finally spoke up. "George! How can you use your hands directly?"
Julian seemed not to hear her, focusing only on getting the delicious steak into his mouth. It tasted so good!
Seeing him ignoring her, Katherine was a bit displeased and knocked on his plate. "I'm talking to you!"
Julian finally noticed Katherine talking to him and looked at her with a confused expression. "Mommy, this meat is sweet and delicious."
Seeing his adorable face, Katherine's displeasure dissipated instantly. She chided gently, "No matter how good it tastes, you can't use your hands. Look at Charles and Edith; they're using forks!"
Julian glanced at Charles beside him and then at Edith sitting next to her. They were indeed using forks skillfully.
But he couldn't!
He had tried using the fork just now but couldn't pick up anything.
Would the pretty lady find out he wasn't her son?
No, he really liked it here and didn't want to leave.
The food here was so good; he wanted to eat such warm food every day!
"Mommy, I was too hungry and got a bit anxious, so I used my hands."
Seeing Julian's cute and pitiful look, Fiona couldn't help but speak up for the little guy, "Let it go, Katherine! I think George was just too hungry. When we were out, he was too busy watching the kites and didn't eat much! Since his hands were already dirty, let him eat like that this time! We can correct it next time!"
Hearing Fiona say this, Katherine also remembered that he hadn't eaten much outside and was indeed very hungry.
Seeing Julian's hands covered in sauce, she sighed, "Alright, just eat like this this time! But don't do it again!"
Julian immediately nodded obediently, "Okay! Thank you, Mommy! Thank you, Aunt Fiona!"
Katherine felt that the child was a bit off, but after staring at him for a while, she couldn't find anything unusual on his face.
He looked exactly like George.
It was just his behavior that had changed a bit, but children's preferences often changed, so it seemed reasonable.
Maybe that unfamiliar piece of clothing was really a mix-up at the kindergarten, just as Fiona had speculated.
Katherine lowered her head and absentmindedly ate a few bites of food when her phone suddenly buzzed twice.
She picked up her phone and saw a message from Bernard: [Katherine, I'm at the gate of the Melville mansion. If you have time, come out; I have something to discuss.]
Katherine hadn't reunited with the Mitchell family yet and only maintained a not-so-close relationship with Bernard.
But he usually wouldn't come to the Melville mansion to find her directly, so it must be something important.
Katherine put down her fork and stood up. "Grandparents, a friend is here to see me. You go ahead and eat; I'll step out for a bit."
Jackie nodded without asking much, "Okay, go ahead."
Sandra warmly suggested, "Katherine, since your friend is already at the door, why not invite them in for dinner?"
Katherine waved her hand, "No need, he probably doesn't have much time. He'll leave after talking to me for a bit. You go ahead and eat; don't wait for me."
Hearing Katherine say this, Sandra didn't insist and nodded.
Katherine walked out of the Melville Manor alone and saw a black business car parked not far away.
She walked over, and the driver immediately got out and respectfully opened the car door for her. "Ms. Galatea, please get in."
Katherine didn't stand on ceremony and got into the car.
"Mr. Mitchell, what do you need from me?"
Bernard look at Katherine, his eyes glancing at the quiet gate of Melville Manor. With a hint of disappointment, he sighed, "I was hoping you'd bring the kids out so I could see them."
Katherine said, "They're having dinner right now! It's important not to interrupt kids while they're eating, or they might not finish their meal. And I bet you brought them gifts and snacks again, didn't you? If that's the case, they definitely won't want to eat their dinner properly!"
Bernard smiled, appreciating Katherine's wisdom. "Yes, I just got back from a trip and brought some gifts for the kids. There are quite a few, so you might want to have the servants come out and get them."
Katherine frowned slightly, "Don't buy so many gifts next time; they don't lack anything."
Bernard replied, "It's true they don't lack anything, but I can't not buy them gifts. I rarely get to see the three kids. If I don't bring some gifts, they might not recognize me in the future!"
Katherine rubbed her forehead, feeling quite helpless. "Alright! If you want to buy, go ahead. I can't stop you anyway! Mr. Mitchell, let's get to the point. Why did you come to see me? Even if you wanted to see the kids, you wouldn't come to the Melville Manor yourself; you'd arrange to meet me elsewhere. So, it must be something important?"
Bernard's expression turned serious. "Yes, it is quite important! I just got back from Markovia, and there, I happened to acquire a painting by Lotus!"
Hearing the name Lotus, Katherine was taken aback and immediately asked seriously, "Which one?"
Bernard replied, "It's a painting we've never heard of before, called 'Whispers of the Forgotten Night.'"
